to think my colleague should just admit she is on weight loss injections?

At work we have all noticed Sally has lost a lot of weight in the past few months. She is always talking about diets and what she eats and does not eat anymore and makes a big deal about avoiding the biscuit tin in the kitchen. She keeps saying it is just willpower and cutting out snacks.

Last week I walked past her desk, her bag was open, and there was one of those weight loss injection pens in plain sight.

Now I cannot unsee it and every time she goes on about her self control it feels performative.

I am not saying she has to announce it to the whole office, but when she is preaching about anyone can do it if they just try it feels a bit dishonest.

AIBU to think she should either be upfront or just stop making a song and dance about how she has done it all naturally?

You haven’t answered why you can’t use your big girl words though, and ask her to stop commenting on your diet?

And as I have said twice (at least) upthread, what would she do with it she had to go home from work? Where would she store it at evenings and weekends? And why would she keep it visible at the top of her bag, rather than hid away at the bottom/in a pocket of the bag?

I haven't thought about it that much.

You clearly have though.

She MUST be hiding it. From her family, her neighbours, the government! Yes super-sleuth OP (who is definitely not jealous at all) has it all worked out.

HRTQueen · 11/08/2025 22:23

She doesn’t have to admit to anything and it makes no difference to you

and I don’t blame her because as soon as I told people the negativity wrapped up in concern 🙄 was tedious

it’s odd that people would prefer you be fat

Have you applied for MJ yet?

It is fine if she wants to keep it to herself but then she keeps boring everybody with amazing stories of her willpower. Telling us to stop having snacks while she has them herself.

It only needs to be kept in the fridge until the first injection, then it can be stored outside the fridge. I’ve taken mine to work before as well, I need to inject at 10am lol 😂

Well your thread would have been a right damp squib if no one had engaged with it!
Anyway, you still haven’t answered why you can’t just do what the vast majority of actual adults would do, and ask the woman to stop commenting on your diet. Have you got nothing better to do than seethe and start threads about it, when you could have nipped it in the bud ages ago?

SomeOfTheTrouble · 11/08/2025 22:31

Plus it’s half past 10 on a Monday night, my kids are in bed and my husband is away. No, I’ve got nothing better to do 😂

Then tell her you will eat what you like and not concerned about your weight

I wouldn't have cared if this was a damp squib. I have other threads 😂

I am not seething. This thread has been a lot funnier than I expected 😂

JUST ASK HER TO STOP COMMENTING ON YOUR SNACKS!
It's that easy. No need for your weird snippy replies to people here, no need to use antagonistic words like 'admit' to medications she may or may not use, just ask her not to do the thing that's actually annoying you.

Sadly, it appears the OP is unable to string a sentence together in real life.

I'd take Sally to the HIgh Court over this all OP. The DISHONESTY! The biscuit shenanigans are clear evidence of shady intentions. It's a cunning plot she has going on in that office. Who knows what she might do next? Bring in low fat crisps? Ryvita? The sheer deception of it all. I reckon she is GUILTY!

I don’t know much at all about AI and how mock threads are generated… but if the nonsensical nature of the responses to comments on this thread is AI generated, then I am certainly not as worried as i have been about AI taking over the world! A lot of work needed for it to sound like a real human being.

Why should you care? It reminds me of the friend who kept badgering me as to whether my pearls were real of not.
If someone feels it necessary to lie - and this is only a co-worker, not your best friend, after all - let her lie.

I saw that Sally in the 'Count on Us' aisle in M&S.

I KNEW IT!
