Personally I dont want to look younger, I just want to look the best version of myself.

So how does that work exactly ? Genuinely give me examples of things that make you look the 'best' that are not indicators of youth?

Love Pamela and her new look is so much more than that. It’s shedding that plastic sex doll look. She was very beautiful anyway but in the end looked bloody awful.
Her new clothes are gorgeous - oh to wear such beauties.
Her new shorter hair is great but I’m not a fan of the fringe. And I wish she’d have filler eyebrows. Not huge, comedy brows, just a little more defined.
She has definitely had something done with her jawline. If I could, I would. But it’s not gonna happen.
Nature gifted her an outstandingly beautiful face and fantastic, natural teeth. You can’t buy it. You either have it or you don’t.
Her smile lights up her face. It’s great to see her back, and out of those awful rubber dresses she was wearing.

FunnyDays · 10/08/2025 15:36

She needs a bit of make up I think

sciaticafanatica · 10/08/2025 15:36

Only on Mumsnet is it unacceptable to look your age or even age!!
this place is toxic as fuck at times!!

MichelleCancelled · 10/08/2025 15:37

I'm 54 and have been rocking a Bob and no make up for about 30 years. It's so easy takes me 5 mins to get ready for work in the morning.

BeardofHagrid · 10/08/2025 15:39

I know ladies who are older than her and look much better tbh. If she’s happy then good for her.

Its not toxic to want a hairstyle thats flattering - if you don't care then thats fine as well

I think she looks amazing, and it really suits her. I'm a fan of the haircut too, I love that style 😊 Not everyone could carry it off, but she does. The lack of makeup also works well for her 👍

MissFancyDay · 10/08/2025 15:40

I think that she looks glorious and, more importantly interesting.

Celebrity after celebrity with long hair, same look, same make up. I'm only interested in looking at pictures of people that look a little different these days.

I'm a mid 60 yr old woman who looks fairly young for my age. Longer or even shoulder length hair makes me look droopy and like a mad cat lady. A shorter bob makes me look bright and alive.

Mistyglade · 10/08/2025 15:42

What in the fuck is wrong with ageing. It s a privilege. Please explain your thinking.

hazelowens · 10/08/2025 15:42

I am 47, I have a bob, my hair is all grey as I have grown it out. I don't wear make-up unless it's a special occasion and I've been told I look younger than my years. My mum always looked younger because she had great skin. She died at 63 and didn't have a wrinkle on her face. I hope I look like my mum at that age.

Picture of my mum a couple of months before she died.

clean skin, dental care and a hair style that suits your facial structure. None of those are indicators of youth.

Hilarious that half of the commenters haven't read the actual body of my post, but hey ho. I don't think I said anywhere that it's awful to look "old," but I'm not sure that many of you virtue-wagers would intentionally choose hairstyles that make you look older. I could be wrong.

The bob and how it's styled could be very 80s nan if you do not have PA's bone structure, and style is mostly what I was thinking.

I don't choose anything about my appearance that deliberately makes me look older or younger. Or have any idea whether I do look older or younger or my actual age.

Maybe Pam is the same and whether her haircut and make-up choices are just as irrelevant to how she feels about her age as mine are

She's 58, not 28. Maybe she gives not a single fuck about that and doesn't want to look the same as she did 30 years ago.

Ponoka7 · 10/08/2025 15:34

Frankie Bridge, the 36 year old Frankie Bridge? Is 36 now aged? She's twenty one years younger than PA.
I'm the same age as PM and my greys are coming through more quickly. If I go down the hairdresser dye route, rather than my home dye, then I'll have to go shorter to counteract the damage. It's possibly what PA has done. I started home dye kits because I can't be bothered to sit in the hairdressers for two hours, again PM might be minimising that. She can style at home, now it's the cut it is.

Omg no! I meant that

Short hair can really suit some woman, such as frankie bridge

But imo, long hair looks best as I find that short hair ages the face, ime

There is nothing wrong with ageing or looking your age.

But its unfair to pretend that we don't want to look older than we are

She needs a bit of make up I think

For what, though? What does she ‘need’ it for?

Nobody needs make up. Some people choose to wear it for a variety of reasons - the pursuit of conventional attractiveness, creative expression, habit. However, if she’s not fussed about those things, why would she wear it?

Catsandcannedbeans · 10/08/2025 15:46

Her age is aging her - one thing I will say though is I wish she would darken her eyebrows a little bit, but I guess that goes against the point. I am an eyebrow dye advocate for both sexes though. Once I convinced DH to let me dye his he’s never looked back.

Dunno why but I find it a bit annoying 😭

Like 'ooo look at how classy i am now that ive ditched the hair extensions and sexy clothes'

That's just me though 😅

I like sjp's look - long hair makes women look younger, imo, and make up can do wonders - i dont think shes had any facial surgery either x

Sjp has very unique facial features so I don’t think she’d suit Pam’s look. I like Pam’s look.

Do you get Botox/any other treatments?

ForZanyAquaViewer · 10/08/2025 15:50

I think people are fixated on women ‘looking their best’ or ‘making the most of themselves’ and/or clinging onto the vestiges of youth for as long as humanly possible. Like it’s something that we owe the world.

When a woman opts out - particularly a woman who is generally considered extremely attractive - some people get a bit weird about it. All this ‘if only she’d sort out her eyebrows’ and ‘it’s attention seeking’ nonsense.

Agree, make up is there to enhance us when and if we want to. It shouldn’t be a mask to hide behind, although it basically is for celebrities (and many others, especially social media “personalities”) who are wearing a tonne, even when it sometimes looks ‘natutal’.

siucra · 10/08/2025 15:52

Pamela is making a very valid point when she wears no make up. She’s done with not being natural. She’s showing her face/ real self to the world. She looks her age. So do we all, without make up, surgery etc. it’s an important feminist act and I applaud her. Also, she looks amazing. And perhaps the rest of us would too.

Jungiandungian · 10/08/2025 15:56

For gawdsake, can we just age without all the judgement?

Who do we need to look younger for exactly? Other women judging us?
