My parents still have, and use, real Tupperware that is older than me and still in tiptop condition! It was the real deal.

rainbowunicorn22 · 10/08/2025 14:49

I agree that if you say the brand name of something, people know what you are doing or using.
If you said 'plastic food containers,' that is one heck of a mouthful, so it's easier to say Tupperware.
A lot of people say hoovering but rarely have I heard vacuuming

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 10/08/2025 14:51

And ‘pritt stick’ for the Tesco glue stick

DS listed 'Tupperware' amongst his uni essentials, further questioning revealed he wanted a couple of plastic bowls to store food.

What was so great about it?

louderthan · 10/08/2025 15:13

Sellotape! Always sellotape no matter where it’s from.

It came in nice colours, there was a container for everything, it lasted ages( still have some) it’s unbreakable , it stacks and stores.
Plus there were nice nibbles at parties, in Tupperware, obviously!
It needs to come back.

We did have some tupperware, only the small bowls because it was expensive. Working class south London family, not much money for pastel pink and green food storage options

I wasnt allowed to use the Tupperware for school sandwiches, they were transported in ice cream tubs.
