Supply Teacher giggling at name of child in class

Is it very unprofessional for a supply teacher to start giggling when taking the register in a class which they have not taught in before, because one of the children's names is "Bourbon"? Supply teacher in question is normally very professional but couldn't help themselves when hearing the name of the child.

No teacher should react to a child's name in that way. It was extremely unprofessional and I hope it has been reported. The teacher needs to be told her reaction was inappropriate. School should not request her back. There are thousands of kids with unfortunate names, but every child deserves to feel proud of who they are and their name is part of that.

Eh? OP is obviously the teacher (if this isn't a WUT).

Nope, they could either be a whiny parent, a whiny staff member, or the teacher who did nothing wrong.

What a whiny post.

OP if you are the Supply teacher it might not be great, but you are only human.

I remember being pregnant during when footballers wives with Chardonnay was on. We had great fun deciding to name future DC Shiraz or Bud.

I have a relative called Tudor BTW.

VeryQuaintIrene · 11/08/2025 14:23

I guess it's no worse than Chardonnay or Brandy...

I mean, it’s not my favourite name, but to find it that amusing you’d have to think it was a biscuit rather than a Franco-Spanish royal house. I mean, it’s no odder than using Windsor or Tudor as a first name.

which would be very odd, if not downright funny
