To judge people who still use Twitter/X?

Okay, so if your job involves having to use Twitter/X regularly, I get it. But I generally don't understand why so many people still use that platform?

It's very well known what an utterly toxic cesspool it has become under Musk's ownership, being virtually unrecognisable now from the site's heyday in the early 2010s. Only a few weeks ago, there was the story about the same thing spewing out anti-semitic bile uncontrolled. That's before we even cover all the disinformation being spread on there, often by Musk himself!

Full disclosure, I deleted my account after Musk's Hitler salutes earlier this year, and now when I hear of someone I know who still uses the site, I can't help but judge them for it. I think either they're tacitly supporting Musk, or care more about their number of followers to have no qualms about still being on such an awful, vile platform.

None of your business really, is it? People make their own decisions. I've heard that bluesky isn't great for freedom of speech. There seem to be big problems with all forms of social media.

I'm on it mostly for the gender critical discussions. It's one of the few spaces on the internet where you can call a spade a spade without being censored.

Deleted it cos of fucking Elon making it crap. Bluesky isn’t as good but then twitter now isn’t as good either so it’s just sad in general. No judgement for anyone still there unless they’re Elon fans in which case yeah, I’m judging

I too am on there for the feminist content. Really interesting posts generally by well informed women. I don’t see much toxic stuff (in contrast to the old days). I don’t use Bluesky but I’ve seen posts of death and rape threats to women on there. I suppose I should judge you for supporting a site that does that. I don’t think I could approve of those sort of posts.

I definitely don’t understand black people who use Musk’s platform but I don’t “judge” them per se.

For me it’s a toxic wasteland and given it’s owner is constantly amplifying posts from racist / white nationalist accounts (this charm being his latest: ca.news.yahoo.com/elon-musk-shares-shockingly-sexist-100036602.html).

I prefer not to use it. I do judge those who keep complaining it’s toxic but continue to use it though.

Isn't it like all other social media platforms though - if you see people posting toxic things, you stop following them, and then you don't see the toxic things?
I follow a few authors, some folks who take part in my sports of choice, a handful of friends and a couple of wildlife/animal accounts. I haven't been bothered by anything unpleasant so far.
