I don't think for a moment it's not real. In my brief foray into online dating about ten years ago I saw some fucking sights, let me tell you. This guy is trying to be funny and massively missing the mark while outing himself as a creepy bastard - but there were a lot, lot worse than that.

It got so I just blocked on spec without a moment's hesitation if they seemed at all ick, and came off the dating apps about four months in never to return. To be fair, I did go on a few dates with some nice enough fellows as well.

I was very lucky after that and met my husband purely by accident while out for lunch with a bunch of women I barely knew. The key is just to keep getting out there and mingling in the real world. Plus a good solid dose of luck!
