Many years ago Marks & Spencer sold a cheese and apple sandwich. It was grated cheese mixed with some kind of mayonnaise and with chunks of apple. It was amazing. Then it stopped and it never returned.

Would I be unreasonable to email their head office to ask for them to reintroduce it?

M&S Pecan Pie slices.

Blank1234 · 04/08/2025 07:32

Illégale by Alyssa Ashley … found it … now to see if I can actually find it to buy 🤔

Perplexed20 · 04/08/2025 07:33

Gio perfume. Not Aqua di Gio which is just bleugh, actual Gio.

MagpieCastle · 04/08/2025 07:35

Waitrose Keralan chicken fry in their ready meals. It was a favourite of the whole family. Recently stopped appearing and is much missed in our house.

bipbopdo · 04/08/2025 07:36

Apple and plum cordial by Bottlegreen. It was so refreshing with sparkling water

Original ribena. All current stuff is full of shitty sweeteners.

Yes agree. In fact it's almost impossible to find any squash not tainted by bloody sweetners these days.

Birds Eye Potato Fritters
Potato Rosti’s (I remember buying them at Tescos in the 90’s)
Sayers wholemeal pastry vegetable pasty (90’s)
Wheelz Nibbits - from Kwik Save, Mexican spice and onion & vinegar flavour (80’s)
Quorn family sized quorn and mushroom pies (90’s)
Bitsa Pizza crisps (80’s)

sandgrown · 04/08/2025 07:37

Chesswood creamed mushrooms . “Real” Lucozade with sugar not grim sweeteners . Birds Eye cod portions in sauce which were an easy healthy (ish) tea for me .

itsnotagameshow · 04/08/2025 07:38

Food related: Burger King Mushroom Double Swiss burger and Wimpy did a quarterpounder with cheese in a wholemeal bun with an amazing pink sauce (!). The original Crispy Pancakes (modern ones are rubbish). Also, not sure who made them, but you used to be able to get (early 80s) a selection of frozen choc ices the size of chocolates you'd get in a box. And now I've remembered frozen Super Mousse!

Other things: Body Shop as it used to be, gel hair spray being easy to find and clothing made of natural fabrics. I was shopping the other day and so much felt horrible and synthetic.

Burger King mushroom double Swiss. It was truly divine.

@itsnotagameshow Woo! What are the odds of us both posting about the exact same item from 20+ years ago at the exact same time???

M&S did a cheese and celery sandwich, that was so tasty.

Jamie Oliver black dhal with fennel seeds. Healthy, filling, delicious. I had it every day for lunch for months and then one day it was just gone! 💔

tinytemper66 · 04/08/2025 07:41

Spangles!

Monsoon perfume in a blue pyramid walnut whip bottle with maroony pointy lid.

The only one I’ve found is Belvoir blackcurrant which just has fruit and sugar in it, no sweeteners. It tastes quite like the old Ribena.

HideousKinky · 04/08/2025 07:43

M&S used to do a banoffee cheesecake that was SO good - haven't seen it on the shelves for years

Nugg · 04/08/2025 07:43

M&S chocolate Swiss roll with the thick white buttercream. It was a weekly treat in the 70s and 80s and I can’t recall the last time I saw one. It was in cellophane not a box and the outside of the cake used to stick to it.

Forgottenmyphone · 04/08/2025 07:44

The old cylindrical Smarties tubes with the collectible plastic lids with letters

Chocolate garibaldis
Bodyshop leave in conditioner
Boots hair gel from the 1980s (can't remember it's name, it was green and in a tub)

Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia Ice Cream.

Creamola Foam. Small tin of some kind of crystals. You added a teaspoonful to a glass of water to make a drink.

M&S Potato Deltas. Triangular shaped cross between a crisp and a cheesy biscuit. No other similar biscuit comes close.

Cremola foam! Core memory unlocked! 💜

Enko · 04/08/2025 07:48

Waitrose uses to sell little icequbes for pims with frozen cucmber and strawbweey. I used to love them.

Im aware I could make them but its not the same.

M&S did a green make up base layer it was a powder. Never found one better to cover red on the face. Its been discontinued likely 20 years or so.

Mains-powered upright vacuum cleaners with disposable dust bags.

Do Henry not do upright version?
