Many years ago Marks & Spencer sold a cheese and apple sandwich. It was grated cheese mixed with some kind of mayonnaise and with chunks of apple. It was amazing. Then it stopped and it never returned.

Would I be unreasonable to email their head office to ask for them to reintroduce it?

Right [cracks knuckles]

Puffa Puffa Rice cereal (showing my age there)
Brannigans crisps and peanuts. Particularly the ham and mustard crisps
Findus beef crispy pancakes
Boboli pizzas (think were Sainsbury's?)
Chocolate bars at early 90s sizes, not these miserable little things you get now
Phileas Fogg snacks, particularly the tortillas and the mignons morceaux
M&S smoked chicken and bacon sub roll. I could live off those
Mint Clubs with plain chocolate

CalzoneOnLegs · 04/08/2025 09:40

@rosalynd34 Garners Pickled Onions are pretty epic, ever so expensive though, have you tried them ?

CalzoneOnLegs · 04/08/2025 09:41

Also M&S did a ready meal asparagus and mushroom lasagne it was so good, now gone forever

Janie143 · 04/08/2025 09:41

Washing tablets. Hate pods and washing liquid and the boxes of powder are too big to store. Only ones available are persil non-bio and they are really difficult to find.

Oooh I thought of more things!!

Potters cleansing herbs - a herb tea thing that you drink to sort your gut out. I didn't need it very often but it was great (and tasted good).

Black by Bulgari (nice perfume from the late 90's).
Addiction perfume by (I think!) faberge. Two different types...not that pricey but they were nice.

Ben and Jerry's frozen yogurt style icecreams. They were lovely.

My Dad had an ancient bottle of "tooth tincture". Must have been decades old (he died 6yrs ago in his 80s) and it contained chloroform amongst other things (no doubt why it was discontinued/probably banned decades ago!), but it worked a treat on toothache!!

@PistachioTiramisu I remember the Nivea shampoo and conditioner. It was lovely. I used to use it when I was a teenager in Germany and Switzerland.

Coconut Boost bars
Hot crunch puddings
Schwartz recipe mixes for Szechuan Chicken and Mojito Chicken

Murfmeister · 04/08/2025 09:45

Walls did a lemon vienetta as a special edition in the late 90's. It was bloody delicious. Now we just have the shit mint....

Flamingoknees · 04/08/2025 09:46

In the 80's M&S did very tasty "sausage rolls" which were filled with a herby sausage meat (not a sausage) and had a gorgeous tomato flavour pastry. I hate sausage rolls but these were devine.

M&S Manchester Tart.
It disappeared sometime in the early 2000s I think.
It tasted exactly like I remember the school dinner one tasting from the 70s.

I remember the cheese & celery sandwich too.
I really wish they’d bring things back, even if just as specials.

If you live anywhere near Bolton there's a stall on the indoor market that sell,s cooked meat,s bread cheese etc
They also sell home made portions of desserts Manchester Tart being one of them ,it's delicious and a huge portion!

I too hate the pods and liquid.
“Which” the consumer magazine has said pods are not as good as washing powder/tablets and they leave a residue yet they are foisted upon us consumers by the manufacturers and we can’t buy the tablets that we do want.
I have gone back to buying a box of detergent powder but would rather the tablets.
Why do the big manufacturers Lever Bros and P&G not give us a choice ☹️ ?

CravingPotNoodle · 04/08/2025 09:49

M&S Poached Salmon and Watercress sandwiches. They were delicious, I had forgotten all about these until you mentioned them. Sad that they stop quality sandwiches to make way for strawberry and cream sandwiches 🤮 and New York Deli sandwiches which taste vile as they are mostly made up of mustard or some other rank creamy sauce 🤢 🤮 🤢

CrossPurposes · 04/08/2025 09:53

Caramac bars. Aldi did a big bar special edition of something very similar last year and that is no longer. I don't think I'll cope if their milk and white chocolate bar goes too.

I remember those, they were lush. DD had a Saturday job in a Coop and they were incorrectly priced as (say) 20p instead of £2, and were also on a BOGOF. We were eating them for weeks.

Ah so glad it’s not just me who remembers them. They used to taste amazing after being baked with some cream.

Wow the 20p deal is epic!!

brannigans crisps. Absolute travesty they were ever discontinued…

Paticularly the roast Beef and Mustard 😪

rockysnout · 04/08/2025 10:00

@Couldyounot Tesco sell big bags of beef and horseradish crisps which are quite a good dupe for Brannigans I think. Obviously they're not mustard but because they tickle your nose the effect is quite similar :)

LadyAsnowt · 04/08/2025 10:00

Marmite special edition truffle flavour. I stockpiled but it's all gone now.😥

Spiras! The best chocolate bar ever made, and nothing has matched it since. I know I’m not the only one who thinks this 😊.

Came here to say this

fairislecable · 04/08/2025 10:00

I have read through the whole thread hoping someone would mention M&S Cheese Toasties, it was a cheesy bread bun shaped roll with a little grated cheese on the top.
They were really nice on their own or with bacon, but my absolute favourite with burgers.

I hate the current fad of sweetened brioche with burgers.

Ooh, good shout. I'll have a look for those. Thanks!

I've always preferred washing powder as I can control how much to use for small washes.

However, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find colour washing powder.

Tesco have just discontinued their and I haven't seen Persil colour powder in the supermarkets for years. Asda don't have any, the only place that still does it seems to be Sainsbury's, which is not as near to me.

Was coming on to say coconut boost.
glad someone else remembers them!

also dolce and gabana feminine perfume, the one with the clear bottle and silver lid

Plain chocolate Bounty in the red wrapper! Can't find them anywhere!!

Yes! These seemed to vanish overnight, and have left me bereft.

l agree with a previous poster about the Bodyshop Japanese washing grains, they were made with some sort of ground up beans and exfoliated really nicely. I also miss their ginger & lemongrass shower gel, although their prices have gone so wild I probably couldn’t afford if these days.

BumpyWinds · 04/08/2025 10:13

Caramac... The Cadbury caramilk is not the same!

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 04/08/2025 10:14

M&S own brand cola. Most own brand coke is disgusting but this was amazing. It had something in it that gave it a rooty taste then they cancelled it for zero sugar zero taste rubbish.

And from the 90s, Wella Shockwaves shampoo and conditioner. So good, smelt amazing and my hair loved them.

Entemann's carrot cake was divine.

Was that ever available in the UK, we loved it in the States?

I miss M & S Singapore noodles, used to be out Saturday treat, they may still do them but they're not the same.

Ritter Sport Mocha, I'll never forgive them for dropping that!

Not one to 'bring back' but one to bring to the UK is Schweppes Bitter Orange, we've bought it in Germany but never seen it here.
