Many years ago Marks & Spencer sold a cheese and apple sandwich. It was grated cheese mixed with some kind of mayonnaise and with chunks of apple. It was amazing. Then it stopped and it never returned.

Would I be unreasonable to email their head office to ask for them to reintroduce it?

It was very good and very convenient. Just disappeared from the shelves.

You can still get bearnaise sauce in a jar in French supermarkets, but not Maille. Get a friend to bring you some back from France!

Original Sosmix. Disappeared when we banned GM products. We used to take it camping, with the kids, it made really tasty veggie sausages.

You can buy Sosmix from one online retailer but it isn’t at all the same.

It's Bendicks white chocolate mints for me!

shallwethree · 04/08/2025 09:04

I'm a chocolate fiend and dislike all other forms of sweets. Except Joosters! They definitely need to reappear. :-)

Sara Lee used to have a frozen pecan pie, it was amazing and we could get it in our local Asda. I think they still have it in the US but not here sadly 😢

I remember those, they were lush. DD had a Saturday job in a Coop and they were incorrectly priced as (say) 20p instead of £2, and were also on a BOGOF. We were eating them for weeks.

Strawberry Callipo - available elsewhere just not in uk

tandoori flavour crisps, came in a purple packet but cannot remember which brand.

M and S smoked ham and chicken sandwich, loved that

Lux soap flakes for hand washing woollens. Flyte bars, like a diet milky way! That brunette shampoo with conkers / horse chestnuts on the bottle, body shop 2 in 1 foundation and powder compact. I feel full of regrets now!

I used to love Lux soap flakes!

Surprisegifts · 04/08/2025 09:08

I Also loved the M&S cheese and celery sandwich. I don't often buy prepackaged sandwiches but when I do, it's that that I want.

TempyBrennan · 04/08/2025 09:08

I hrtft but nestle clusters were my all time favourite, they discontinued around 2021 and they got me through two hyperemesis pregnancies and I miss them.

also yes to Spira’s, elite chocolate bar

Worstershie sauce crisps with a pint of the original caffreys strong beer ( before they changed the recipe).

Worcestershire sauce Walker's are back! Can't help with the beer though.

TempyBrennan · 04/08/2025 09:09

Oh and solero shots, now I have to settle for a callipo and it’s not the same!

Aqua Manda oatmeal soap. It was basically gritty soap, but it worked a treat on teenage skin. No idea why that popped into my head.

Dolce and Gabana perfume with the light blue lid. Does anyone know a perfume that’s similar?

I’m sure this is still on the go but pricey.
Lidl does a pretty good dupe called Suddenly Cotton Blue for about £5.99

Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia Ice Cream.

Creamola Foam. Small tin of some kind of crystals. You added a teaspoonful to a glass of water to make a drink.

M&S Potato Deltas. Triangular shaped cross between a crisp and a cheesy biscuit. No other similar biscuit comes close.

I didn't realise Cherry Garcia had gone. Maybe it's just a UK thing. My favourite ice cream in the world is Ben and Jerry's Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz which you used to be able to get here bit now only overseas. We always make a beeline for B&J when in the US

Findus crispy pancakes

Yes bars

I have these in my freezer, the crispy pancake is still very much a thing!

M&S did a cheese and celery sandwich, that was so tasty.

They still do!

PistachioTiramisu · 04/08/2025 09:24

M&S Sandwiches again! Loved their poached salmon and watercress ones and also the fresh crab - haven't seen these for years. Also loved their Duchesse potatoes - lovely and such a pain to make yourself - chicken cordon bleu before they messed about with it and added smoky bacon!

Nivea soap - used it for years and it has suddenly disappeared. You used to be able to buy Nivea shampoo and conditioner in Spain but that has sadly gone too.

Lyons Lemon and Orange cup cakes - delicious - and McVitie's Mallows - so much nicer than today's version.

Nobody has said Cadbury's Milk Tray bar - my favourite ever choc bar - guess it would be very expensive to produce these days!

M and S chicken no mayo sandwich. It had a yogurt based dressing with black pepper in. Instead they bring us strawberry sandwiches, for shame.

Yes! I used to really like this one!

Morethanthis71 · 04/08/2025 09:31

Entemann's carrot cake was divine.

InCollaboration · 04/08/2025 09:33

Does anyone remember a tarragon mayonnaise? I can’t recall who made it but I used to buy it in Tescos in the early 2000’s. It was amazing!

CalzoneOnLegs · 04/08/2025 09:35

Andrew’s Liver Salts was great for indigestion and mildly laxative

Wyksis · 04/08/2025 09:35

The original yellow metanium cream

its the only cream that worked on really sore bottoms

rosalynd34 · 04/08/2025 09:36

Weight watchers tinned spaghetti. Its the only tinned spaghetti I would eat but it was lovely, discontinued a couple years ago.
That and Haywards strong pickled onions, haven't found one comparable since, farmers markets can get close but they often put chillies in which changes the flavour. Even tried making my own and they just aren't the same.
