Immigration population up another 700k

1000 replies

Atallglassimdof · 30/07/2025 23:35

I understand that this country needs immigration but if you import 100,000s of low skilled workers, in their 30s and 40s, how are they going to fund their retirement or pay for their housing?

It just seems counterintuitive to bring loads of people into this country who will need considerable financial support ( housing benefits, pension credits) when they are no longer able to work, and don’t have the means to support themselves.

Why are you asking me when if you want to know the answer it's very easy to find out.

73, 847 in the army
125,000 illegal boat crossings since 2021.(20,000 since January)
76% male

Incorrect

I want you to find out for yourself

The total UK Armed Forces, including Royal Navy/Royal Marines, British Army, and Royal Air Force, was around 147,000 personnel as of April 1, 2025. The breakdown is roughly 82,000 Army, 33,000 Royal Navy/Royal Marines, and 32,000 Royal Air Force

Regarding asylum seekers

In 2024, the UK received 84,200 asylum applications, relating to 108,100 individuals, which was a record high.

The asylum backlog, or the number of cases awaiting an initial decision, was around 91,000 at the end of 2024, a 31% decrease from the peak in 2022.

In 2024, 53% of asylum applications were refused at the initial decision stage (excluding withdrawals).

So over half of them are sent home

And finally, less than 10% of the UK's land is covered by buildings and infrastructure

So your dramatic imagery of us being squeezed onto a tiny island where every blade of grass is being paved over isn't quite true.

Your concerns are legitimate but your information is wildly off

P.s. I didn't ask you the figures. I asked you to clarify where you'd got the information from.

But you didnt understand that.

That’s not correct. You’ve quoted the initial stage without appeals.

So its your feelings on the subject, rather than any evidence.

Unlike my DD who has RL experience of this....

I guess all the stuff about 10s of 1000s of Carers being asked to repay monies owed was a dream and never happened..... and no one ever checks.

Like i said "Garbage and Daily Mail rubbish"

Your DD’s anecdotal experience doesn’t trump anyone else’s on this thread. So yeah it’s naive.

Yes true. Around half of the appeals are successful

This doesn't yet equate to asylum seekers outnumbering our military forces yet

Your figures re the armed forces v illegal immigrants are absolutely terrifying. Particularly if they get deployed in a war.

I don't think I dramatically said every tiny blade of grass is being built on? I said I love the countryside and hate the fact it's being built on to house our increasing population which is true. It's horrible. If you can't see that then you don't care, which is of course your prerogative.

I don't know why you've given me some figures that you yourself asked for. I love wasting peoples time as much as the next person but that was just annoying behaviour.

Oh the irony of accusing other people of having information that’s off.

So obviously either misunderstanding or misquoting. Being refuse at initial stage does not mean you get sent home.

Nearly 80% of applications are approved.

And those which are refused hardly ever end in deportation, because the applicants abscond or the country of origin refuses to take them back.

Once illegals migrants get here, there is near zero chance of them ever leaving.

returning Brits not receiving benefits isn’t rubbish

ive watched their faces as they’ve been told and it’s incredible unpleasant, certainly happens as they’ve been gone far to long. Also comes as a very big surprise

Ive no idea on nhs and how that works on payment, so can’t comment

Right, so are you saying there are homeless British pensioners living on the streets in the UK, having returned to live here after 40 years abroad because they have zero access to public funds. Because that is absolutely not what I have seen in the only two cases I know. Both were able to claim benefits immediately (well, one immediately one after a few months) and one was prioritised for council housing because of the cancer and put up in a B&B in the meantime. All paid for by the state. The other rented privately, then claimed benefits after a few months when his money ran out.
I also know one British passport holder (Syrian with a British dad) who didn't speak English or had ever been to the UK in her 40s who arrived here during the Syrian War. The council didn't know what to do with her as she didn't fit into any brackets so they put her in B&B/on council waiting list and helped her claim benefits.

Capitalism needs cheap unregulated labour. The Labour Party has no interest in working class people anymore - they ditched clause 4 and became a party that panders to big business.
The Labour Party stamp on any small business initiatives or an aspirations working class people may have whilst totally enabling tax dodging globalist multinationals. They are committed to bringing in the feudalistic vision of the WEF and this mass immigration is one of the mechanisms they are using to bring about their vision.

You might be right about racists wanting me out of the country as well but it doesn’t mean I’m wrong about the state of the country after importing millions of Muslims into the country- the kind that are so extremist that they’re not welcome in the Emirate that they come from.

Agree with your posts.
my area is unrecognisable in last 5 to 10 years….so many more people predominantly men and all from Middle East /Africa/India …no English being spoken …Persian restaurant just opened …men hanging about in groups at all hours …it’s a complete landscape change.

I read yesterday that the Red Cross are flying in the wives and children and family members of those getting settled status….they waive the need to speak any English, no requirement to show they can support a big family …numbers increased to 20,000 in year to March 2025. Used to be about 4,000 per year. Council officer responsible for housing them said 99% of them don’t work , don’t speak English or have any intentions of working.

It beggars belief…they bring big families was quoted as 4 to 6 kids each…

every day it gets worse and worse …

You're still not getting it

I didnt ask you for figures, I already have them

I was asking you where you got your wrong information from

The reason housing estates are being built is not because of immigration its because our housing system is broken, and building new homes is seen as a sticking plaster to avoid rent inflation from greedy landlords, dilapidated preexisting housing stock, and because its a huge money maker for investors.

We have 700k uninhabited homes in the UK

The numbers are not terrifying. They're miniscule compared to other nations as well.

The point is I asked you to give your sources and you can't

So it only leaves us to assume its some hysteria from a tabloid you've fixated on and you're now scaring yourself stupid about things that simply aren't true

If you like the countryside, more further into it?? Or campaign against new housing developments like many of us do in my village, with some successes to be proud of.

Yes half do not get sent back. And even adjusted for appeals we don’t send everyone outside that back.

@awkwardasfuckdo you think that every person that fails asylum gets sent somewhere?

On googling Being refused asylum doesn't automatically lead to deportation. Many factors can prevent a person from being removed, including lack of travel documents, the need for appeal processes, and challenges in securing cooperation with the individual's country of origin.

Kendodd · 03/08/2025 10:10

As I understand it you have to be 'ordinarily resident'. So you move back to the UK, this is where you now live, so you are now ordinarily resident.

One of the two men I knew (the one with cancer) had been a bit of a hippy his whole life, doing jobs like scuba instructor so never earned a lot of money, just enough to get by. The other had worked as an engineer but had lived a real champagne lifestyle so didn't have much savings and no pension.
Anyway, what else are we supposed to do with elderly people like this? Leave them destitute to die on the streets?

Thank you for querying it - yes I am revising my thinking and have discovered that nobody is taking into account the large amount of voluntary returns alongside enforced and assisted returns in their deportation argument

The actual figures it seems are unavailable from the current period so we can only go on the ones provided on gov website- which dont account for volutary returns (these appear to make up the largest amount within asylum applicants leaving the UK)

I’m all for voluntary returns. In fact the most effective part of the deterrent that was scrapped by Labour was people heading to ROI on their own accord. No money from taxpayers to do that.

I don’t think everyone leaves though, and probably fewer as there’s less need to. Labour tried to get headlines with ‘deportations’ but if you can influence the movement of people without that high cost it’s better.

When I was working with 'failed' asylum seekers, none of them were going to be deported ever. Eventually, they've been in Uk so long that they are given leave to remain. 95% of the men on the boats won't be sent back. They minimal number that come with children have their kids in school already
