To be annoyed at people thinking I’ve use weight loss jabs

Smith354 · 30/07/2025 23:01

Long story short I’ve just had baby and lost 3 stone in 3 months, weights dropped off through breast feeding / barely getting time to eat 3 meals a day / walking toddler to nursery and back on a buggy board which is uphill one way everyday (heavyyy)
Because of this hype about weight loss jabs lately, I’ve had several people now ask and accuse me of using them. To the point people think I’m lying by saying it’s fine if you have please don’t feel embarrassed you look amazing. It’s really peeing me off now, I don’t know why it’s grinding my gears so much. I’d never go near them and really don’t agree with them personally so maybe that’s why. But it feels the more I say how much I dislike them, people think I’m covering up a secret. I even got called a secret jabber by a friend. Anyone else go through similar ?

I think the best response is that old mumsnet favourite, "Did you mean to be so rude?" said with a tinkly laugh.

IsThisLifeNow · 30/07/2025 23:11

I think everyone is being rude here tbh. It's rude of them to ask, but it's also rude of you to be acting superior because you've lost weight 'properly'

You sound like you look down on people who do take them

SilenceInside · 30/07/2025 23:15

It’s interesting you call it an accusation of using injections, rather than a question.

Surely if you just say, blimey no, it’s the constant breastfeeding that’s sucking all the energy out of me, plus running round after a toddler, people will take that at face value?

Also you could just point out that you can’t breastfeed and take WLI as it’s not proven safe for babies so you couldn’t take them even if you wanted to.

ShesTheAlbatross · 30/07/2025 23:15

I think it’s weird that you don’t agree with the jabs in general.

But yes, I’d be annoyed if people thought I was lying about something when I wasn’t, whatever the situation.

Andbegin · 30/07/2025 23:17

Literally they stop you eating. Just like you’ve done through being too busy to eat. Like others do by low carbs/ slimming world/ divorce.

Just say you’ve saved £150 if you want to feel superior. People are impressed you have lost weight. You don’t get a medal for eating the calories you should.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 30/07/2025 23:26

Superiority complex aside @Smith354 , just tell people you can’t BF and take WLI at the same time. It’s not a big deal- it’s in the papers and that’s why they’re on people’s minds. It’s likely you’re the only person giving it more than a moment’s thought.

And for the record, WLI don’t mean you can’t eat a bucket of KFC with no consequence- it suppresses your appetite by regulating your blood sugar. I have a strong familial history of T2DM in my family, so it makes sense that I might need a bit of help in that area.

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 30/07/2025 23:30

You’ve lost it too quick and it’s bound to pile back on

so don’t worry too much

Woah! Jealous much. If it is baby weight that she lost, then she might be fine. Irritating as that clearly is to you

Are breastfeeding women allowed these medicines?

Yes don't you look down on people who take injections for weight loss ? It's not diabetes

Smith354 · 30/07/2025 23:42

Wasn’t feeling superior at all, did I hit a nerve with some on here? Lol
I just could never imagine seeing someone lose weight and be so personal to accuse them of using these jabs. I think it’s way to personal and rude

I think it happens when there is a new trend, long hair, people assume hair extension.
Firm round bottom, people assume BBL lift.
Long natural nails, assumed acrylic.
It doesn't really matter what they think, they should keep their thoughts in their heads.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 30/07/2025 23:49

Well, “I wouldn’t touch them” sounds a bit superior, wouldn’t you say?

Anyway, nobody cares. It’s tomorrows fish and chip paper. You’ve got two small
children, so probably focus your energies there.

You wouldn't touch heroin either

Mistyglade · 30/07/2025 23:50

Yeh I’d be annoyed, what gives these people the right to accuse you of anything about your weight, it’s just bitchy. Surely it’s ‘how’s the baby doing’ etc for anyone normal.

SilenceInside · 30/07/2025 23:51

“accuse” again, rather than just “ask”….

I’ve lost a shit ton of weight and I get asked if it’s via WLI pretty often. No one has been rude enough to persist and insist that I must be a “secret jabber”. Even though I am!

I don’t know why it’s triggering such annoyance for you, other than it being intrusive and odd for people to insist on something when you’ve told them it’s not the case.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 30/07/2025 23:53

@ChirpyFox love it! Never away from the stuff 🥰🥰🥰

HedwigIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/07/2025 23:55

Why is it ok for you to be so smug about the fact you haven’t used them? Weird.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 31/07/2025 00:03

It's very normal to drop a lot of weight while breastfeeding a small baby, looking after a toddler too, no time for eating or sleeping, the people who you know are a bit bonkers.

Rizzz · 31/07/2025 00:06

Your reaction is so weird.

When I gave up smoking, a lot of people asked or assumed I'd used nicotine patches or Champix, whereas I actually went cold turkey and felt it was the hardest thing I'd ever done.

But still, it didn't occur to me to be offended that some people thought I might've had help 😳

MidnightMusing5 · 31/07/2025 00:09

How are you producing breast milk if you hardly eat?

KiteFlight · 31/07/2025 00:20

It’s the same when you are naturally slim. I get accused of starving myself or dieting, I’ve never dieted in my life!
I think the green eyed monster comes out In some people so they have to find a way to take you down a peg or 2.
Everyone has an unsolicited opinion on everything these days. Just ignore them.
