To be annoyed at people thinking I’ve use weight loss jabs

Smith354 · 30/07/2025 23:01

Long story short I’ve just had baby and lost 3 stone in 3 months, weights dropped off through breast feeding / barely getting time to eat 3 meals a day / walking toddler to nursery and back on a buggy board which is uphill one way everyday (heavyyy)
Because of this hype about weight loss jabs lately, I’ve had several people now ask and accuse me of using them. To the point people think I’m lying by saying it’s fine if you have please don’t feel embarrassed you look amazing. It’s really peeing me off now, I don’t know why it’s grinding my gears so much. I’d never go near them and really don’t agree with them personally so maybe that’s why. But it feels the more I say how much I dislike them, people think I’m covering up a secret. I even got called a secret jabber by a friend. Anyone else go through similar ?

What’s your beef with weight loss injections? Really not agreeing with them seems like an odd take. What is there to not agree with?

So many people are on them these days that anyone losing weight is assumed to be using them. I wouldn’t take it personally, it’s not an attack.

autienotnaughty · 31/07/2025 06:45

Just say it’s a combination of exercise , breastfeeding and being busy. If they push it I’d be direct “did you mean to be so rude?”

EmeraldShamrock000 · 30/07/2025 23:46

I think it happens when there is a new trend, long hair, people assume hair extension.
Firm round bottom, people assume BBL lift.
Long natural nails, assumed acrylic.
It doesn't really matter what they think, they should keep their thoughts in their heads.

Actually that's true, I've been asked if my nails are acrylics when they're long. I don't take offence though, just say no. I know I'm lucky to have strong nails.

WLI are in people's minds at the moment OP, I must admit I assume everyone who loses weight at the moment is using them because so many people are. And good on them... I think I probably will too!

🤣🤣🤣

I can’t tell if you’re laughing at that comment because you think it’s funny or you’ve put laughing faces because the comment was so ridiculously stupid?

CommissarySushi · 31/07/2025 06:56

Seems like you've hit quite a few nerves here, op 😂

lljkk · 31/07/2025 06:56

What's probably so annoying is that they think you are lying, not whether you used the jabs or not. I suppose I'd shrug and say "It's too bad you think I'm a liar. I guess you shouldn't ask me any questions in future since you don't think I can tell the truth."

verycloakanddaggers · 31/07/2025 06:57

Smith354 · 30/07/2025 23:42

Wasn’t feeling superior at all, did I hit a nerve with some on here? Lol
I just could never imagine seeing someone lose weight and be so personal to accuse them of using these jabs. I think it’s way to personal and rude

But it feels the more I say how much I dislike them they're making judgemental remarks, you're making judgemental remarks in reply.

Just focus on something else.

ExtraOnions · 31/07/2025 06:59

i’ve lost 5.5 stone on the Jabs now … not a single person has asked me if I’m using the injections. I’m very open with my use, so I’m happy to tell them if they ask how I’ve done or.

Pricelessadvice · 31/07/2025 07:00

It would annoy me too OP. Just tell them no, you’ve done it ‘old school’.

BogRollBOGOF · 31/07/2025 07:02

Being asked something repeatedly can be mildly irritating.
People not accepting the answer and insinuating that you're lying is infuriating.

Zanatdy · 31/07/2025 07:02

People are rude. Is it really accusing though? Surely it’s a question, and you have an easy answer as you’re BF and you can’t take WLI whilst BF. Just ignore, people should stick to saying you look great, or did you follow a specific diet plan like slimming world. And end it there. People have been successfully losing weight long before WLI came about.

I have a question about WLI, don’t know much about them but hear they are the same meds as give to diabetics. Why aren’t all diabetics very slim? A few I know with type 2 are pretty overweight. Is it given in lower doses for diabetes / regulation of blood sugar. Just something i’ve been wondering, not a dig at anyone.

PutThe · 31/07/2025 07:03

Your use of language is telling, but the issue shouldn't arise because it is indeed rude of them to ask.

JMSA · 31/07/2025 07:04

Who cares. I’m on Mounjaro but what people have to remember is, it doesn’t miraculously melt the fat away! It still takes work, dedication, a big calorie deficit, healthy eating including the right amount of protein … and contrary to reports, I still feel hunger!
So I’d feel for you more if it was a really quick and easy fix.
Congrats on your baby and amazing weight loss though.

JMSA · 31/07/2025 07:05

Also, my losses aren’t crazy at all. But I’d rather it was sustainable.

Ademasstudio · 31/07/2025 07:05

Who are these “people” OP?

Were you overweight before pregnancy?

Slimtoddy · 31/07/2025 07:06

I was talking to someone recently who is on the jabs and has lost weight. I found it fascinating and uplifting conversation. To hear about the health improvements was so positive. Yes, there were side effects but manageable and they wore off. This person had a few health issues which have been significantly reduced thanks to the jabs.

I think your friends are probably trying to wind you up cos it amused them. And your views about the jabs is why they are trying to wind you up.

Ademasstudio · 31/07/2025 07:06

did I hit a nerve with some on here? Lol

let me guess Op, you throw around such words as “triggered” “narcissist” and “hun” liberally? 😆

Aout25 · 31/07/2025 07:09

HansHolbein · 30/07/2025 23:31

4/10

That's generous!

Ademasstudio · 31/07/2025 07:10

long story cut short

Really? A “long story” how so? What are you missing out? You lost 3 stone post pregnancy. There’s more to this?

Aout25 · 31/07/2025 07:11

ChirpyFox · 30/07/2025 23:41

Yes don't you look down on people who take injections for weight loss ? It's not diabetes

What do you mean 'it's not diabetes'?

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 31/07/2025 07:13

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 30/07/2025 23:30

You’ve lost it too quick and it’s bound to pile back on

so don’t worry too much

I lost weight extremely quickly after both my babies due to a mixture of breastfeeding and not having time to eat properly. It did not go back on at all. I’d gained quite a lot in pregnancy, then went back down to my pre pregnant size very quickly afterwards.

I think it’s the rudeness of being accused of lying that would really piss me off. I’d find it hard to get past that and would be viewing these friendships very differently moving forwards.

Notbridezilla · 31/07/2025 07:17

To answer your question - most T2DM aren’t on the injections. There are very strict NHS criteria around who qualifies to
hsve them and who doesn’t, the same as there is for weight loss. Because they’re expensive. So most people you know with T2DM are probably on other treatments, many of which DO cause weight gain.

MidnightMusing5 · 31/07/2025 00:09

How are you producing breast milk if you hardly eat?

From the three stone of body resources. Women put on brown fat whilst pregnant for this very purpose, its easily converted by the body into milk - that what the mw told me, anyway. But if op gets underweight the milk production will start being affected.

AmusedLilacBalonz · 31/07/2025 07:20

Pricelessadvice · 31/07/2025 07:00

It would annoy me too OP. Just tell them no, you’ve done it ‘old school’.

She hasn’t though. ‘Old school’ weight loss involves a concerted effort to eat differently and exercise more - it’s usually a major lifestyle change that results in maybe losing 1-2lb a week so that losing 3 stone could take 6-7 months of daily effort. Having the weight drop off very quickly in the course of normal life is the type of weight loss that most people could only achieve through a GLP1. Hence the ‘accusations’. I think OP should consider that even without WLI she could be considered to have skipped some of the ‘process’ so there is no reason to take a purist view on how people achieve weight loss. These jabs can be life-saving.

No. Just shown herself up as smug and judgemental.
