To be annoyed at people thinking I’ve use weight loss jabs

Smith354 · 30/07/2025 23:01

Long story short I’ve just had baby and lost 3 stone in 3 months, weights dropped off through breast feeding / barely getting time to eat 3 meals a day / walking toddler to nursery and back on a buggy board which is uphill one way everyday (heavyyy)
Because of this hype about weight loss jabs lately, I’ve had several people now ask and accuse me of using them. To the point people think I’m lying by saying it’s fine if you have please don’t feel embarrassed you look amazing. It’s really peeing me off now, I don’t know why it’s grinding my gears so much. I’d never go near them and really don’t agree with them personally so maybe that’s why. But it feels the more I say how much I dislike them, people think I’m covering up a secret. I even got called a secret jabber by a friend. Anyone else go through similar ?

You’ve lost it too quick and it’s bound to pile back on

so don’t worry too much

Don’t be daft. Some women find it drops off rapidly after birth and it won’t go back on as it didn’t go on randomly but due to pregnancy ages not pregnant now.

Yes don't you look down on people who take injections for weight loss ? It's not diabetes

No

You have zero right to make such rude comments about people using weight jabs. There. How does that feel?

ohsososo · 03/08/2025 18:14

Smith354 · 30/07/2025 23:42

Wasn’t feeling superior at all, did I hit a nerve with some on here? Lol
I just could never imagine seeing someone lose weight and be so personal to accuse them of using these jabs. I think it’s way to personal and rude

You can’t backtrack as we can all read your OP. You 100% sound judgemental in just about everything you said

ohsososo · 03/08/2025 18:16

ChirpyFox · 30/07/2025 23:50

You wouldn't touch heroin either

No you wouldn’t touch heroin because you think heroin is a bad thing. And possibly judge people who use it. Therefore if you are applying it to WLI you must think they are a bad thing.

GanninHyem · 03/08/2025 18:20

Reframe it as a good thing? You've lost a significant amount of weight so much that people think you're using WLI, is a bad thing? It's not diminishing your hard work as you've not really put in hard work to achieve it, just had a kid and don't have the appropriate support to eat which is quite sad tbh.

ohsososo · 03/08/2025 18:20

Smith354 · 02/08/2025 07:22

I wasn’t slagging people off who take them. I’ve been over weight for a long time , 4 years since having my first dc , we’re talking 16 stone at 5’9 so carried it well but still in the obese BMI range. You always hear eat less move more and low and behold I ate less and moved more and weight dropped off. I don’t believe you need 3 meals a day, I’ve been perfectly fine and kept it off now for a month without ‘trying’ it’s just become a part of my daily life. I was never showing off in my post I was just trying to get across the point that I didn’t go out of my way or deliberately lose it fast. To be be fair is don’t know much about the jabs.

Well if you admittedly don’t know much about them why are you making such a point that you would never use them?

amberisola · 03/08/2025 18:31

Much less rapid or impressive baby weight loss here (2 stone in 6 months) But I've had people suggest the same thing to me. I try really hard to prioritise eating proper food and do a lot of walking ,so it does grate a bit when people assume.

Honestly I wouldn't touch these jabs either for this reason (needing to lose a couple of stone). Nothing against them for people prescribed it due to a serious medical condition.

MagnificentBastard · 03/08/2025 18:33

Sanctimony aside, people shouldn’t really comment. But with every other person on Mounjaro, it’s fairly predictable that some will make the assumption.

People on weight loss medications have to do that and more. For a lot of people, diet and exercise just doesn’t work unless paired with jabs.

Corrag · 03/08/2025 18:09

To be be fair is don’t know much about the jabs.

If you don't know much about them why do you not agree with them? Maybe learn a bit about them before deciding they're a bad thing.

People like that never do!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 03/08/2025 19:23

I have had similar comments and I’m sure more people think I’m on injections but don’t want to say. It doesn’t worry me, I am really fortunate to have managed to lose 3 stone in 6 months without them and that’s all I feel, lucky that something clicked and I was able to stick at a diet.

If this time had been unsuccessful, I absolutely would have used the injections. As it is the money I would have spent goes on gym membership at a lovely gym so I feel very fortunate.

Don’t let it bother you but don’t be too quick to judge others, losing weight is not easy!

xsquared · 03/08/2025 20:04

I guess that as more people know about them and are using them now, people will assume you're using WLI whether you're telling the truth or not. WLI is seems to be such a hot news topic atm.

It's a shame op has been jumped on and called smug and judgemental for being annoyed about being asked whether she's using WLI. It could have been a good opportunity to share about the benefits instead.

Smith354 · 03/08/2025 20:13

I’m not backtracking at all.
I was stating how much I weighed so people understand I’ve been on the really heavier side, and I know how it feels to not be able to shift the weight. And maybe it’s outdated when you hear eat less move more? But it seemed to work for me. I was eating way more than I was burning without realising. I actually appreciate the people who have commented with actual facts about the WLI

Do you “accuse” other people of taking medication for their health?

SilenceInside · 03/08/2025 20:19

Of course "eat less and move more" works. It's the actual sticking to the "eat less" part that many people can't manage, which is where the WLI can help for those that meet the criteria.

I knew fine well that I was eating way more than I was burning, but sticking to long term lifestyle changes to reduce calories was proving to be impossible for me until I started Mounjaro. It's brilliant for people like the OP who are able to manage losing weight without medical assistance, cheaper for them and none of the possible risks of taking a prescription-only medication. But it's also brilliant that these medications now exist for anyone who needs them, who qualifies for them.

Well she’s clearly being something if not smug or judgemental. If she were truly not judgemental she would have no negative response to people assuming she was on WLI

if someone asked if I flew Qatar and I had flown BA I would not start a thread about it because it would be a non issue for me. I would feel no emotional response to being asked if I flew Qatar.

the fact that OP started a post indicates the level of negative feelings she has towards WLI

Well, I think lots of people seem to have an opinion about WLI but it's case of don't knock them until you've tried them.

OP isn't wrong to be wary of something she knows very little of. Who knows, maybe this thread will revise her opinion of them!

FlowersFawb · 03/08/2025 21:06

@IsThisLifeNow agree 100% I think OP sounds quite rude about the jabs! All weightloss however achieved is good if it makes you happier and healthier.

i've lost over 5 stone since January with the dreaded jabs 🤣🤣 and feel and look fab!

i think the 5 stone I was lugging around was doing me much more harm!!!

It’s incredibly rude that you use the word “accuse” (twice!) which implies you think someone using the jabs is doing something wrong. And what do you mean by “you don’t agree with them?” What’s there to agree with or not agree with? Having an opinion on medication that someone else is taking is not really any of your business or anything you should be forming an opinion of. You sound ignorant and judgemental.

And before you jump to conclusions, I’ve never taken the jabs. I wouldn’t however dream of judging anyone else for taking a decision to take a medication to improve their physical health.
