Those of us in the UK are safe. The people responsible for keeping us safe are already spending way too much time talking about Gaza (as opposed to Syria and other appalling conflicts). There’s famine and starving children all over the world and there has been for generations. There’s little we can do to solve the problems.

The UN has now been shamed in to actually delivering the aid they had already in Gaza and Israel has granted a humanitarian ceasefire (while getting nothing in return) so hopefully some of the suffering can be eased.

Rizzz · 27/07/2025 00:36

Are you not safe OP?

Dancingintherainxxx · 27/07/2025 01:06

Counties like the UK that remain ignorant are letting it happen.

Here in Ireland we're actually helping.

I am going over with 3 work colleagues in 11 days. I am a trauma consultant.

Israel are apparently blocking distribution of aid
More needs to be done

To Gaza? I’ve heard it’s impossible to get the aid through
please publicise what you see

I'm going over to Palestine in 11 days.

This is well known information. If you're in the UK look up European news outlets instead

girljulian · 27/07/2025 01:13

It's because nobody dares to say anything which will get them accused of antisemitism.

It makes no sense. I am Jewish. Many, many holocaust survivors and other Jewish people have criticised the behaviour of Israel. But...

Yes, please make what you see public as people don’t believe what’s going on

what is well known information? That Israel won’t let the aid through? Why on earth won’t they and why are our leaders letting this happen

Israel has power. They have money. Germany won't speak up out of WW2 guilt.

I am a trauma surgeon and I am going with 3 of my Irish colleagues to Palestine in 11 days. 17 others are German. 1 Brit. 7 Austrain.

A lot of it is Propaganda. Israel think this is their land. It does not matter. They are murdering starving children.

I was only on a video call yesterday asking if I should bring baby formula. I was told not too as the survival rate is too low. I need to concentrate on over children over 10 years old. I'm a doctor and can't so anything when I'm there for BABIES.

EllytheNelephant · 27/07/2025 01:49

Hasn't it been all over the press today that Israel are now allowing UN convoys in?

Long overdue, but it seems to be happening.

Huge respect for what you are doing!

Decisionsdecisions1 · 28/07/2025 09:33

It's happening because Israel decided not to play by international rules anymore - and have created a man made famine as a consequence.

I say Israel because although conceivably it could be Netanyahu and his cronies who are to blame, its hard to believe if there were mass protests by the majority of Israeli citizens, he'd continue in this vein.

America will eventually get beyond Trump (hopefully) but Israel will be reviled for generations. It's simply unforgivable.

CommissarySushi · 28/07/2025 09:40

It's sickening. I just can't think about it anymore, I've seen too many awful images and I can't take hearing anymore about it.

The people who try to defend Israel's actions make me so angry. There is no justification for starving babies to death. There just isn't.

Good for you, but there’s not need for the criticism. The U.K. is one of the most generous countries globally when it comes to aid, charitable donations and volunteering. There are already British medics there.

Kendodd · 28/07/2025 09:50

Firstly, NOT defending Israeli actions. I just don't know what Israel was supposed to do after Oct 6th though. I bet Hamas are loving this and celebrate the death of every Palestinian child as a propaganda win. Its clear to me Hamas are never going to surrender and would rather every single child in Gaza was dead than they give up.
What is Israel to do?
And as I said, I'm absolutely not defending Israeli actions, I think their leaders belong in the dock in the Hague for what they've done. How do you fight an enemy who just wants to kill you though regardless of how many of their own children are killed in the process?

Absolutely true. There is no excuse for deliberately starving children. Both Israeli AND Hamas are responsible for this though. Hamas could have just surrendered and released the hostages ages ago .

The longer Hamas hang on, the worse publicity Israel gets. That’s their game. It’s a long game, at the cost of civilian life in Gaza.
A cost they seem happy to accept.

So it’s Hamas that are MAKING Israel commit genocide - they have no autonomy and had no part in the decision to murder 60,000+ people.

I really hope you don’t have children because here we teach children that you can’t blame other people for your actions and decisions. Children are taught to be accountable from the age of 3, if not younger. We tell them that if one child pushes them they can’t push another child, if a child snatches from them they can’t snatch from someone else. We should perhaps send some nursery school teachers to Israel to educate the government there.

LadyCankleOfGrantham · 02/08/2025 10:44

There is aid in Gaza, the UN haven’t been collecting it for distribution. Do you ever wonder why Egypt won’t open its borders to aid? It’s disgraceful - the UN are worse than useless in this conflict, neighbouring countries refuse to help, Hamas steal aid and won’t do the one thing could help them even though they’d get 100 POW back per 1 hostage. A total shitshow, but I’m not sure it makes sense to demonise Israel and lay the blame entirely at their door. It’s so much more nuanced than that.

Bravo to the PP going to help - amazing! You should do an AMA

Lots of people sadly have been very antisemitic when talking about the conflict and using ancient antisemitic tropes about Jews whilst sitting in wide eyed faux innocence when told not to do that

I don’t think anyone is pro-killing children. But this is what happens in conflict sadly. Goodness know this wry country were responsible for the deaths of Iraqi children not so long ago.

AnnaBalfour · 02/08/2025 10:50

“It’s complicated” dontcha know. Or so Netanyahu and his powerful allies would have you believe.

There have been plenty of protests by Israelis. I know a number of Israelis myself who are very anti-Netenyahu and doing so much to support their Gazan neighbours. I’d have hated someone to tar me with the same brush a Boris Johnson during the Tory reign or Iraq war just because I’m British. Israel is an extremely liberal country and there are a lot of pro-Gazan voices as well as politicians.

Netenyahu’s time will come.
