Malnourished starving children in Gaza

babyproblems · 26/07/2025 06:42

The photos that appeared this morning on my news updates of mothers holding their children, dying of starvation and extreme malnutrition in Gaza have absolutely broken my heart. I am not particularly news focused, of course I’ve followed it all but this morning it has stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. As a mother of a 3yo DS who is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, whilst we have a fridge full of food downstairs and a life of peace, I feel so sorry that those poor mothers and children are living this hell so undeserved and also so so lucky we have the peace we do…
I don’t really know what the point of my post is; I suppose I’m screaming When Will This End inside and want to tell everyone to not take the freedom and peace we have for granted; use your right to vote and use your privilege to make informed choices that steer the world away from conflict towards peace…

Sending a handhold to all the mothers’ whose lives are not being lived in peace and whose children are suffering 🕊️💔

I understand exactly how you feel.

Whatshesaid96 · 26/07/2025 07:35

It absolutely breaks my heart. How it must feel to be that powerless as a mother to not be able to do the most natural thing for us of feeding and nuturing our children. Honestly I wish there was a way I could get these mothers and children out.

Standardpain · 26/07/2025 07:37

The senseless cruelty of it just beggars belief.

Those poor poor children and their mothers.

Morgenrot25 · 26/07/2025 07:42

It's absolutely horrific, but I force myself to detach myself from it because I do feel powerless to actually do anything.
There's also so much misinformation out there, regarding who is doing what or who isn't doing what. Does anyone actually know any genuine way of actually helping?

Heynonnynonny · 26/07/2025 07:51

It is absolutely heartbreaking
Bad enough when it is a 'natural' famine but a man made one is utterly despicable. That -'country' should be sanctioned and leaders sent to the Hague

It's a man made famine. If it's made by people then people can stop it. The food is there outside Gaza. Whether it more the fault of Hamas or Israel doesn't matter to those starving children and their mothers at this point. We need to keep the pressure on our governments who should/ will be applying pressure behind the scenes.

So, what actual ways of guaranteeing help are there?

Letstheriveranswer · 26/07/2025 08:44

The food is actually sitting inside Gaza but the problem seems to be in distributing it...people are desperate and start looting, it's not safe for lorry drivers to drive it in, Hamas attacks people trying to get aid and if anyone gets shot in the violent chaos Israel get blamed, so they want the UN to take responsibility for getting it to distribution centres but the UN are refusing.

Hamas are obstructing everything because they want to deliver it but then they steal it and sell it at high prices.

There are plenty of videos from inside Gaza of people clearly stating that Hamas are fully responsible for their misery.

It's very complex and the situation is catastrophic.

Having said that, there has been so much use of AI imaging and pictures from other conflicts and attributed to being pics from Gaza, that it's hard to know what is and isn't truth. Plus all the previous times we were told there was famine, and there wasn't, and even the UN finally admitted there wasn't. When the hostages were released every single man (not many women were out) in the Gazan crowds looked very well fed, clean and with fresh haircuts - and that was after we were previously told there was famine.

I hope it all ends soon.

Meanwhile I will wait for this thread to go down the inevitable route....

Blueyshift · 26/07/2025 08:45

It's horrific. Feel so helpless.

custardlover · 26/07/2025 08:48

It is disgusting. I read a lot of ‘Hamas’ in a PP and sure that is a factor but the most significant one is surely the country blocking aid and then murdering children and families who then try to access the little that is allowed. It’s a shocking, despicable war crime.

RainSoakedNights · 26/07/2025 08:49

It’s just mind blowing. And the fact that posters will still come on here and try to justify it is incomprehensible

yes, that countries are Egypt and Iran.

Mewling · 26/07/2025 08:56

There have been so many images out of Gaza that have taken my breath away with their sheer awfulness. Some will shout that there are other wars and why are we focused on this one, and claim there’s sinister intent. Perhaps, as parents, this war reflects all war and its impact on women and children in particular. I also felt the same about Ukraine, and about the kidnapped girls in Chibok. Sheer helplessness and a kind of grief.

Tfmrhelpafterwards · 26/07/2025 08:57

Apparently we will be sending aid drops from Friday - but why wait another few days why not Immediately

Sadly they will not be enough - and like someone said on Sky last night, it’s just prolonging their suffering.

I'm sorry but, in relation to the current starvation crisis, Israel's primary culpability is really beyond all reasonable doubt. USAID have found no evidence to support the notion that Hamas are to blame.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/usaid-analysis-found-no-evidence-massive-hamas-theft-gaza-aid-2025-07-25/

When the head of GHF resigned in protest at the end of May, he heavily implied Israel's blameworthiness and his word - from one of Israel's biggest partners and allies nonetheless, were gravely concerning:

"it is clear that it is not possible to implement this plan while also strictly adhering to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, which I will not abandon"

https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/26/middleeast/gaza-humanitarian-foundation-aid-resigns-intl-hnk

And even if you feel like you're probably right, the catastrophe that might follow is not worth the risk of being wrong. Relief needs to happen urgently.

Head of controversial US-backed Gaza aid group resigns, citing concerns over independence and impartiality | CNN

The head of a new aid distribution program for Gaza, backed by the US and Israel, has resigned after weeks of controversy, citing concerns over impartiality and urging Israel to allow more aid into the blockaded enclave.

Lettheriveranswer your post sickens me.
How can you waste your breath trying to explain this away.
There are children starving to death.
Do you think those 3 year olds kidnapped people from a rock concert?
I'm ashamed to be human sometimes.

The only thing that will help is action being taken against Israel. Ending arms sales, sanctions, and enacting the international warrants for the lesders’ arrests.

Lots more aid got in during the ceasefire. So we need to keep up the pressure for that. Unfortunately there are vested interests on both sides who don't want it.

Thsts been the one of worst parts of it for me. The fact that members of this forum (many of whom will be parents themselves), actually support what is being done to this helpless victims. They will justify it until the cows come home. Chilling and depressing 🙁

Incorrect, many members of this forum, are able to keep their emotions in check and debate without getting personal. They are also able to separate fact from fiction, and not take everything at face value.

Every single post about Gaza you’re there, saying it’s all fake.

feetlikeahobbit · 26/07/2025 09:16

There is no justification for starving a population.
