DP’s new football flag has given me the ick!

HollyUpNorth · 25/07/2025 12:55

DP is a big football fan and they have been promoted so he is excited for the new season to start. He goes with a group of 5/6 mates and they always have a flag to take to away matches. To mark their promotion, they’ve ordered a new one.

DP took delivery of it yesterday. It is an England flag with the club badge on it. They have added the text ‘On the charge with Farage’ 😩

Instant ick…am I overreacting!?

Do you know what the second world war was about?

Do you mean that your father fought against fascism but sided with Hitler?

What are you talking about?

Edit: I’m going to assume you have misunderstood something I posted. My dad was in the RAF in the war. He abhorred fascism. He would abhor Farage ( in fact did abhor him in his previous Brexity incarnation). This is because Farage espouses views Hitler would have quite liked.

Do you know what fascism, socialism, leftism, rightism, communism, despotism actually are?

I haven’t posted to upset you - what do you think I’ve said? If I’ve said something you misinterpreted, please tell me so I can straighten it out. I was a bit upset when I first read you thought my dad might be a fascist, but I assumed I’d misunderstood and asked for clarification and tried to explain what I’d meant.
you’ve just attacked me further. I’m very confused.

Yes. Half my degree was about social policy and political positions.
But I don’t know how you arrived at my dad being a supporter of Hitler. Could you explain?

It is the same group of trolls on several threads and I am fed up with it. It seems to me that you and your friends are involved in continual baiting of me and others on mumsnet. I was foolish enough not to realise what was happening, because I had never heard of trolling until now, and that is illegal and the groups of people on here are committing an offence by arguing the toss with one poster.

It seems some posters have nothing better to do than to find fault, argue and never be satisfied with the response they get.

You had my post declined, and I don't care, but I have had you and the other posters up to my eyes following me from thread to thread. I hope the site managers read the post you didn't like.

I am dealing with a massive escape of water in the house and I am finished.

ForeveraBluebird · 29/07/2025 14:34

@llizzie , sorry to read that you’re having water issues in the house, it must be a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Because Farage and Reform are not far right. If your father would have hated them, and you say he would have hated Farage and Reform I took it to mean that he must have been fighting on the wrong side.

Freedom of speech is being eroded in Britain and we can see Britain turning into a closed country, because anyone who does not agree with the new Act is accused of being on the side of the likes of Saville!

What is the meaning of all those 'isms' I quoted? Are they 'lost in translation'? Why are so many people not understanding what fascism is? Far Right?

The Britain your father fought for was all about Nationalism and the British Empire. If Hitler had not been defeated, he would have owned half the world, the British Empire as well as the French and his German colonies. Hitler would not have given those countries self rule after the war. It was a world war because all the other countries in the world would have lost their freedom had they not joined in.

The civil war in Spain was basically between fascism and communism. Both were fairly new to the world of politics. They were considered direct opposites. When Hitler made himself Chancellor and made laws that no one could depose him, he created the SS and the Nazi party took off with a vengeance.

Stalin was a communist, yet he joined forces with Hitler for a while, until Russia was starving and needed the support of British ships laden with food, then he changed sides and joined with capitalism and the west - and freedom. After the war he showed his true colours, and millions in the USSR starved to death, and even though the UN had set out rules for war and peace, they were powerless against Stalin and did nothing to help the people of East Europe.

If you studied social history, I would have thought you would know that during the war Britain could have been described as being far right, because it was all about fighting for freedom, for free speech, for freedom people now do not seem to understand, all the things that Reform and Farage are standing for now. They are not far right, not National Front. They want to keep Britain a credit to the world in tolerance and stability. Socialism, it seems is influencing people to their side, so that Britain will end up completely controlled, a new USSR? God forbid.

Egypt keeps quiet over Gaza, because the Muslim Brotherhood might rise up again, with connections with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. That is why the crossings are not open much to let trucks in. The Egyptians, Jordanias are terrified Hamas might stay in Gaza. If there is a state for Palestine, there will be more trouble than anyone can imagine. Why do you think Iran is financing them? Iran is desperate for a port on the Med. They failed in Syria and Lebanon.

They effectively control world shipping because they are funding the Houthis who are bombing ships in the Red Sea. effectively closing off the Suez Canal and causing shipping to take the longer route, adding to the cost of living.

To oppose the Israelis is to support fascism, because it is Hamas military forces who are keeping the war going. They don't care about the Palestinians. They just want a port on the Med for Iran.

Can you disseminate between who is fascist and who is not? Who is socialist, who communist? Are we now between a rock and a hard place, between terrorism, military coups, and those who are loyal to their ancestry?

But hey! Why take notice of me? What do I know?

It is. It is what happens when you are disabled. Whether using my wheelchair or a stick, I look where I am going in the adapted house, haven't lived upstairs for a long time. The few occasions someone has stayed over, no one noticed. The loss adjuster has just told me the floor upstairs might fall in any time because it had been leaking forever until it reached saturation point and soaked up the ceiling.

The house is 1900 sq feet and detached. There is a lot to spoil.

cardibach · 29/07/2025 15:20

@llizzie I’m not going to respond to you anymore because you keep accusing me (and my late father, bizarrely and quite upsettingly) of all sorts of unpleasant things. I did alert MN to your post, but it wouldn’t be declined if it didn’t break rules. FWIW I told them I wasn’t bothered about the troll hunting, I wanted an impartial eye on whether I had inadvertently said something which could be said to be upsetting or an attack. Neither you nor they have got back to me with an example, so I’m going to assume I haven’t said anything that’s upset you and let’s leave it at that.

That's the best news I have had today. Please don't, You have done this to me on other threads and I don't like it.

Stop calling Reform and those you don't agree with facist or a dacist party. Pause a minute. Go to Budapest. Stand at the side of the Danube where the shoes of children and parents shot in the head and thrown into the river by facists are replicated in Brass, down to the size of each child's shoe. Come back to the UK with an understanding of what facisim is and stop labeling people that have different political views to you as comparable to regimes that kill children and throw them into a river.
Then carry on the debate.

Farage thinks the RNLI shouldn't rescue drowning refugees. Morally, frankly he's not a lot better than the Fascists you are talking about.

True elites would not consider his education “public school”, nor did he attend Uni. Nothing about his pedigree is elite.

He has done well for himself despite not having elite education,

Sorry to disappoint.

That's going to come as a bit of a surprise to alumni of public school Dulwich College.

How on earth can you claim that @cardibach is following you when she was on this thread well before you turned up?

Thanks. I’ve been concerned about whether I’ve said something that was misconstrued by the poster and the idea I’ve been following her around to be unpleasant so I’ve just had a look back at over a month of her posts. I can’t find a single interaction between us other than this thread. I haven’t even been on the vast majority of threads she has. I assume it’s a case of mistaken identity, but I’m still bemused as to what it is I’ve said on this thread that’s so upsetting.
