I got an email from myself with my full name written on and my email address. It said “hello pervert….” And said it’s downloaded a spyware called Pegasus and will send a video of me to all my contacts! I kind of know it’s fake as I’m very boring and do nothing dodgy but I’m a little worried as I carry my phone everywhere with me such as in the bathroom, in bed etc. is this real? I’m doubting as it went into my VIP list and had my full name on it! Shall I start deleting my contacts?

as others have said, it is a scam. Delete, ignore and try and forget about it.

It's a scam, it will end in blackmail for money. Delete it and block.

Beaupepys · 17/07/2025 20:31

I had this once, it's a scam designed to frighten you. Delete and don't give it a further thought.

NewbieYou · 17/07/2025 20:44

It’s a scam. Obviously. They use a site to make it look like it’s from you.

Gardener246 · 17/07/2025 21:02

I had that too, its a horrible email. Ignore it.

SherbertLemons · 17/07/2025 21:23

I got the same email a few weeks ago. It was jarring to read but I just deleted it and all is fine. No idea how they got both my email addresses but there’s scammers are very smart these days. Delete and ignor

summerday25 · 17/07/2025 21:27

Just had another one 😂

WittonVilla · 17/07/2025 23:23

I have had this email twice. First time was a shock like yourself, second time was " not again". Total spam. Look on it as a bit of a laugh. Try reading it out loud to some friends using silly voices and it really does seem quite absurd. Not sure how, as a woman, I would be able to do what it suggested I did whilst I was watching porn.

rainbowlou · 18/07/2025 00:14

I’ve had a few of these, I’m far too old, fat, hot and hormonal to be that pervert…I delete and block!!

Mastercom · 18/07/2025 00:16

I love the way so many women get these and just think, yeah, no. They’re more likely to get me pulling a WTF is going on in this world menopausal face than anything else. I mean, knock yourself out scammers, I don’t care 😂

Stiffnewknee · 18/07/2025 01:30

I just have my initial in my email address and not my first name so they must have wrongly assumed I was male. I had one a few years ago that told me that my penis was visible in the video and that it was definitely me. I laughed for a while before deleting and ignoring. 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂

yellowdress34 · 18/07/2025 10:09

Don't worry. I had one about a week ago. Clearly a scam, a fishing exercise, obviously targeting people who actually are doing the things they're accusing them of.

Lookingatabookshelf · 18/07/2025 11:02

I know you have the right advice. The reason they have your name and email is because a company somewhere who had those details had been breached. This an old fashioned phishing scam. Reset all your passwords and delete the email. Never think about it again.

DisabledDemon · 18/07/2025 16:23

It's drivel. Drivel, drivel, drivel and as the Cybermen say, 'Delete, Delete, DELETE!'

Don't respond to it - you'll give them more information and don't worry about it. It's absolute rubbish. These scammers work on the basis that most people will delete the email but there will be the odd one who will fall for it. That's their money day. Don't be that person - delete that email and don't give it another thought. Starve them.

ohyesido · 18/07/2025 16:26

They’ve got it through data mining. It’s a scam and I’ve received the exact same. I read it out to my colleagues with much glee

abracadabra1980 · 18/07/2025 16:31

I’ve had these on and off for years. I’ve also just had one (not that subject) with my name in the ‘from’ box. No idea how they do it but just delete and forget about it, or report to Action Fraud-they are the police side of tech scams.

dh280125 · 18/07/2025 22:12

It's rubbish. Just ignore it. Scam.

HevenlyMeS · 19/07/2025 11:03

Brilliant advice

Are you quite sure you’re not one of these women who has a penis? Apparently it’s quite common these days…

OneCalmFish · 19/07/2025 14:30

I got it too just laughed hardly think any of my friends will care about me being on Mn or my shopping emails and I defo do not have any revealing photos or videos. Block and delete. I also recently got sent a group text about unpaid parking. I don’t have a licence never mind car!
