I sweat, so badly. I've tried all the deodorants suggested on here, I wash with bar soap, I've tried the (can't remember what it's called) something 500/600.
I shower at night and put deodorant on, them wake up smelly and shower again!
Honestly, I smell so bad!
Please help!

What do you smell of?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/07/2025 00:03

You need anti perspirant not deodorant. Sure Max stick is excellent.

TappyGilmore · 13/07/2025 00:04

Do you wear natural fabrics? If not, do so. I live in a warmer climate than the UK and cannot stand anymore to have any unnatural fabrics on, I get overheated as well as finding them itchy. (I’m sure partly due to peri as well as the climate!)

BO, just disgusting sweat! And it starts as soon as I leave the house in heat or walk in somewhere warm! And my armpits, upper lip, back of knees, anywhere really, pours with sweat

are you referring to Bev? If so smell can be normal as bodies change with hormones and do not put deodorant or any spray down there

Since being in peri I sometimes get whiffier more quickly. Now I wash with bar soap first, and then use Hibiwash and leave it on my skin for 5 mins before rinsing, and it’s helped alot. Might be worth a try in case it helps a bit?

Devilsmommy · 13/07/2025 00:20

What's your blood pressure like?

CraftyNavySeal · 13/07/2025 00:22

Are you stressed/ hormonal/ dehydrated/ potentially in ketosis?

I’m a sweaty Betty but when it’s really bad I’m pretty sure it’s a hormonal issue

Opine · 13/07/2025 00:24

Try washing sweaty areas with hibiscrub or dettol bar soap. Avoid shower gel.
Ineos spray antiperspirant is very good. Looks like water in a pump action bottle and can be bought on Amazon.

WorkerBee83 · 13/07/2025 00:25

Have a look at a product by the ordinary glycolic acid 7% some YouTube videos on how to use it x

Crispynoodle · 13/07/2025 00:27

Worth a try is Dove anti perspirant and deodorant crème stick

I stink AIBU
isitmytime · 13/07/2025 00:31

Detol bar soap stopped me smelling stale and musty.
glycolic acid wiped on armpits helps kill bacteria that’s causes the smell.
is there sweat/old deodorant on your clothes trapping in the sweaty smell? If so white vinegar sprayed on and left to soak freshens it up.
I’m a sweaty person. I have to layer anti perspirants so I just the cream kind first then a spray.
I can’t wear anything tight against my skin or I feel sweaty and stressed then I sweat more.
I only shower in the morning or I shower at night if I’ve been really sweaty
i sometimes use driclor that literally stops sweat. Apply it on clean, dry skin (and make sure skin is bone dry, I use a hair drier on cool) then let the deodorant dry properly before going to sleep
stops any sweat for a few days each application

Mitara · 13/07/2025 00:33

Yes i am also sweaty and stinking in this heat.

I shower, put on deoderant, and i stink ten minutes later

pinotgrigiomum · 13/07/2025 00:33

By the sounds of it you are peri menopause I have what you describe so do my friends unfortunately welcome to the club😬👊

indoorplantqueen · 13/07/2025 00:48

I used to stink but after losing a few stone I don’t anymore. When I did, I tried everything and the best one was sure sport. Shower at night then lots on.

starfishmummy · 13/07/2025 13:36

I have an older disabled dc who sweats a lot and gets smelly. I agree with layering the products. Also is the smell "staying" in your clothes? We had this problem and frankly one stinky t shirt would make the whole wash load smell! I tried all sorts of strategies and have settled on adding dettol sanitiser to each wash load.

Fizzysister · 13/07/2025 16:58

Plus one for hibiscrub. You can wash with it (good for whiffy feet, too) but I dilute it 50-50 with water in a travel spray bottles and spray under my arms after a shower then when it's dry use my dove stick.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 13/07/2025 17:04

you could potentially get botox injections in your arpits if they are the big culprit.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 13/07/2025 17:10

Are your T-shirts/tops really clean? If not when you wear them and they warm up from your body heat, the stench of BO will be released. Wash them at 60 degrees using powder (not liquid or gel pods), wash bras every day (spot wash with a bar of soap before putting in the machine if you don’t want to wash them at 60), dry thoroughly before putting away.

I agree but all my clothes would be ruined washing them at 60! I recommend a bio detergent, that's most important and wash as hit as the label recommends.

MissPeachyKeen · 13/07/2025 19:06

Worth a gp appointment, I'd say op

catin8oot5 · 13/07/2025 19:28

Witch hazel on a cotton pad on armpits and any sweaty places after your shower. Then Mitchum deodorant

Givenupshopping · 13/07/2025 19:32

I just Googled it, as I used to have this problem, here's what it said:

What is the best deodorant to stop sweating UK?

If regular antiperspirants do not control your excessive sweating, a strong antiperspirant containing Aluminium Chloride is usually the first line of treatment. Anhydrol Forte (roll on), Odaban (spray) and Driclor (roll on) are sold in most chemists or on-line, and are available on a prescription from your GP.
