I sweat, so badly. I've tried all the deodorants suggested on here, I wash with bar soap, I've tried the (can't remember what it's called) something 500/600.
I shower at night and put deodorant on, them wake up smelly and shower again!
Honestly, I smell so bad!
Please help!

It might be good to check that it’s not stuck on your clothes. I have a couple of polyester jumpers that don’t get clean in the wash. I treat them with white vinegar and let them soak for a while before washing.

Perspirex!! I got a recommendation for this years ago (maybe on here).

You put it on at night after a shower and only need to reapply twice a week to maintain it. I don't even sweat under my armpits anymore, it's amazing stuff.

THIS. Perspires genuinely changed my life.

P1pp1lotta · 14/07/2025 07:01

Maybe try exfoliation - either a body scrub in the shower or dry body brushing before you get in. You'd be surprised the difference getting rid of that buildup of dead skin can make. I'd suggest once or twice a week to start with. It might also help with the sensitivity under your arms over time.

I'm quite a sweaty person but generally not smelly. When I am it's usually hormonal, although I believe that drinking lots more water and eating less sugar/sugary products has helped as well.

Also, this might sound silly but the way you apply products can make a difference too. I had a friend who would complain about her BO and she did smell sometimes very early on in the day. When we went away together I noticed she would shower, barely dry herself and then dress. Then she would just take a single swipe of her antiperspirant to her underarms. I showed her my way, which is to shower, dry thoroughly and then apply my antiperspirant (roll on) thoroughly across my whole underarm area and then continue to get ready...hair, makeup etc, so it had time to sink in and dry. Then I blot off any excess product from under my arms and get dressed. It seemed a very small thing to me but she said it made such a difference and her mum had never really taught her about this kind of thing.

Thank you for all of your recommendations, I'm going to try out all of these, for sure!

A d definitely don’t wear anything polyester. I’d try dial antibacterial soap. The white bar only and up only cotton clothing. I’ve never tried that lume stuff but it supposedly gets rid of odors everywhere on your body. My brother was a marine and dial white antibacterial soap was what was issued to the troops. I wish all the luck in the world and you do need to see a doctor. There’s any number of reasons why this is happening to you but you need to find out.

Has anybody suggested glycolic acid?

Buy a big bottle of it from the ordinary. They stock it in boots or on their website it is relatively cheap. Throw a load on a cotton pad, wipe over your face with it first if you like, the under each armpit. Let it dry for a minute then apply deodorant over. It works really well.

Take a look at Black Girl Shower Tok on TikTok.

I absolutely stink in this weather. I showeres this morning, sprayed loada of deoderant and now i stink again.

Ive looked closer at my body and i think i actually have a fungal infection under my bra. Sigh. Anyone know of a good remedy for that?

Canesten cream. A thin layer after a shower, make sure you dry your skin thoroughly. It should clear up in 7-14 days. You can use an anti-fungal foot powder to prevent it returning

Have you been to the GP? They have things that can help

I saw a YouTuber complaining about the same thing, someone recommended wiping her armpits with The Ordinary glycolic exfoliating toner. She said it was a game changer after having tried everything else.

You can also have Botox injections in your armpits to reduce sweating. People I know who have had it done say it's very effective but it needs to be repeated about every 6 months.

Toomanyweedsoutthere · 17/07/2025 17:56

I would exfoliate the shizz out of your armpits and switch to liquid roll on if you're currently using a cream stick type deodorant. I remember someone posting about this before and switching to liquid roll on helped her.

vincettenoir · 17/07/2025 18:57

@Toomanyweedsoutthere what is best for exfoliation? A scrub of a loofah type thing?

SunnySideDeepDown · 17/07/2025 19:01

Are you overweight? You may find it will help to lose a bit of weight if so.

5128gap · 17/07/2025 19:20

Since going vegan I hardly sweat at all and when I do, it leaves no odour. I know that's probably a bit drastic though. But you could maybe try avoiding meat in hot weather and see if it helps.

Flixon · 17/07/2025 20:53

Are you overweight ?

ArcticBells · 17/07/2025 20:56

I don’t have any suggestions but just sending you Flowers as I feel for you

FlyingWithBabyLongHaul · 17/07/2025 20:57

Try using glycolic acid by The Ordinary, wiped on your armpits with cotton wool pleat.

Livpool · 17/07/2025 21:06

Wipe pits with glycolic acid or put on an acne face wash containing benzoyl peroxide and leave on for 5 minutes before showers. Kills the bacteria that causes the smell. The acne stuff will bleach your towels though!

Starlingsintheloft · 17/07/2025 21:25

Is your bedding and any night attire made of synthetics? I will sweat badly in anything polyester for instance but don’t get this in natural fibres. Do you wash your bedding on hot wash frequently?

Devianinc · 18/07/2025 00:32

Everyone in the world can give you advice but you have to see a doctor. There’s a million reasons why this happening to you including having some kind of bacterial infection that’s just not causing you any other symptoms. I’m thinking you have a streptococcus infection somewhere in your body. It’s actually a very stinky bacteria. I know if you go to a doctor that they can help you but you have to go. Don’t be embarrassed, just do it bc once you get over the first time going to the doctors you’ll be fine. I myself have white coat syndrome, dumbest phobia in the world but it’s real. Get back into the world, I’d bet they know exactly what it is.

vincettenoir · 18/07/2025 09:41

I have heard giving up garlic and onions helps a lot but personally I’d rather have bo.

fixingmylife · 18/07/2025 09:49

I make a paste of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar to paste on underarms. It's supposed to work as a detox. I think it helps with BO.

SoThisIsHowMiddleAgeFeels · 18/07/2025 10:02

OP I had a problem with this a few years ago. I was washing my clothes on 30 degrees and I don't think the smell was coming out properly. They smelt clean when I first put them on but then seemed to smell. I only wash at 40 degrees now and the problem seems to have gone away.

Other things to try - if you eat alot of processed junk food try stopping it and eating only whole foods for a couple of weeks. I'm in the process of losing weight (3 stone down, 4 to go, not on WL drugs) and I think eating better foods is causing me to smell better. I mean I am still overweight although less so but eating real food seems to make me smell better.

Try using the dettol wash that everyone is recommending. Just buy a big bottle and use it for the duration it lasts. I think it does give everything a extra good clean.

Just wear 100% cotton tops. None of these cheap man made fabrics.

Bar soap and anti p we all know.

Good luck. It made me feel really self concious for a while.
