As a flip side to the expensive letdowns thread , has anyone bought anything low cost that’s been good ?
I got a mascara in b and m that’s great on my long blonde but thin eyelashes.
And an ineos hand wash that is actually really nice.

I bought a mini vacuum from Amazon which is fantastic for kitchen use - vacuuming out your salad drawer, the bits of bread that are left on the worktop etc. mini vacuumThey don't have the exact one I bought in stock any more but I found another one so you can see the type - so easy to use, charge and clean.

We have one of these and I use it to vacuum dead flies from my window sills and blinds. Also good for window and door reveals.

chimichangaz · 28/07/2025 13:12

Ooh yes @zacsGranny I use it for dead flies too 🤣

Did someone on her sayy they'd had Primark T shirts for years or did i dream that ?

UpMyself · 28/07/2025 17:29

@Daygloboo , the men's t-shirts from Primark seem to last quite well.

Is the imperial leather soap even meant for the face?!

How long have you been using?

It's been going since long before different products were ever a thing. It smells nice too.

Ooh would these work on my day/night blinds? I really regret having one in my kitchen. The bloody unwieldy Dyson is useless for little but essential jobs like that.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/07/2025 20:01

@caramac04a bit off topic but don't you like the day / night blinds? I've been considering replacing my Venetian Blinds with them in some rooms as I'm so sick of cleaning them, but if they're just as bad I won't bother!

Yes I think it would be great. We have Perfect Blinds, but the flies, dust and dirt collect at the bottom. The rechargeables are light and easy to use.

A cheap filter coffee machine from Asda. I think it was under £20. Had it years and use it every day. I prefer the coffee I make in that to anything I can buy in a coffee shop.

since I’ve been buying the lenor outdoorables, I have saved so much money on fabric conditioner. Before with anything like comfort I would pour so much in and still not smell it on my clothes. Now with the outdoorables, I do a capful per load and it smells up my entire home, lingers on the clothes. So on a deal £3.50 a bottle lasts me 3 weeks instead of spending £4 a week on the other brands.

Is that a concentrated fabric conditioner or the wee balls?

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 29/07/2025 08:43

Oh god, don’t use fabric conditioner! It’s so bad for the environment. ☹️

Cherrytree86 · 29/07/2025 08:55

Fabric conditioner is a totally unnecessary product. No one needs it. Complete waste of money.

I've really gone off the smell too. I never use it and only minimal washing liquid these days.

They used to, but they have gone terrible lately. I went in recently for a few 'around the house clothes' the t-shirts were all very short. I tried on 3 sizes and they were all the same length just got wider. Material is also not what it used to be. Don't tumble dry them.

As someone else said the mens seem better. I got 2 mens ones for myself and they are much longer and feel thicker.

I used to get most of my office blouses/ tops there and they would last for years.

My MIL has venetian blinds. She says they are a complete pain to clean. She has replaced a few of the ones in the higher traffic rooms and left the ones in the rooms she doesn't use as often (so doesn't have to see they aren't clean!)

Horrible stuff. Unnecessary, stinky and slimy. Bad for the environment.

Chemenger · 29/07/2025 09:50

I like fabric conditioner, it makes things easier to iron, I use tiny amount of an eco friendly one with very little smell, I can’t stand my clothes stinking of cheap perfume. It’s not cheap though.

deeahgwitch · 29/07/2025 10:06

Anyone bought a small jug for milk that doesn’t drip ?

GrimDamnFanjo · 29/07/2025 10:11

A pill box with compartments for taking earrings etc on holiday

Two floppy magnets - one saying CLEAN and the other DIRTY. £4.
Use them on the dishwasher so everyone knows if it’s loading or needs unloading.
Such a simple thing but it works.

I need this! I've been using post it notes for years!

Friend had her car burst into flames a few days ago. A passer by got her out quickly so she had only minor injuries.

so I bought 6 x all purpose fire extinguishers from Amazon, half price at £9 each.

they are for me, daughter, grandson and son in law’s cars, and one for me at home.

hopefully never used but I feel we’re all safer

How terrifying. Well done to the quick-thinking passer by

This. Wish this and those bloody 'scent boosters' were banned.
