Mine is a cordless Dyson vacuum. Cost loads, has a poor battery, doesn’t pick up well, so overrated. Gets rave reviews - why?? My next one will be a Henry ;-) My other is overpriced, average pub/cafe grub when out as a family. Such a waste of time, money and effort. Sorry, I’m usually more upbeat…

I love mine!

I love mine too! Run it every other day and it’s a job I no longer have to do. I think it may depend on the type of floors/ obstructions you have ?

Babyliss big hair - sits in box. Just can’t do it.

YogaLite · 13/07/2025 10:52

Dishwashers with the cutlery tray, can anyone convince me of the superiority of the tray over basket?

Have sent back one dp bought based on reviews alone.

100% agree about Dyson. I have come to loathe it.

Same, we've had our Eufy for about 6 years and it's one of the best things we've ever spent money on, my Airwrap being another.

Worst by a country mile was a Shark cordless vacuum. It had one decent outing then was utter crap and everything ended up clogged in the head, had to be unclogged multiple times on each use. I got angry and threw it in the bin in the end.

The latest upgrade on my phone has made it utterly shit, not sure if it's a Samsung thing or all androids but it's doing my nut.

Going a bit off-thread, but what is it you hate about the new Samsung os? There are lots of ways to solve the niggles.

@TeenLifeMum can I ask which home laser hair remover you have, please?

Bluevelvetsofa · 13/07/2025 11:00

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Not cream at all. More like glue. Don’t know what it’s supposed to be like, but surely not that. It resides in the bottom of a drawer.

I bought Dramatically Different moisturiser recently, after not having used it for ages. So disappointing.

Valentte diffusers. The hype is good. Everyone loves it apparently until you look on Trustpilot. The smell is pleasant, packaging lovely, delivery prompt, but- it lasts about a week.

Aww really i wanted one of these 🥺

I love my Roomba! I literally never vacuum anymore. It's great!

RaraRachael · 13/07/2025 11:01

My daughter was raving about Inkey List skin products so I though I'd give them a whirl even though they cost a lot more than my usual stuff.
I noticed no difference at all so have gone back to Boots cheapo range.

BargainQueen2025 · 13/07/2025 11:03

An automated vacuum which basically doesn’t pick anything up. It’s got one bloody job and doesn’t do it 😤 Like the OP, I also bought a Henry. Henry’s are awesome.

I much preferred the dishwasher cutlery tray to the basket. We moved to a house with a cutlery basket. It annoys me daily.

Nars foundation. Completely different colour to the website. Funny texture.

Did u train everyone in the household to place each cutlery item correctly ?

MrsMoastyToasty · 13/07/2025 11:10

My Next sofa. It was supposed to be a 3 seater but in order to seat 3 adults you had to remove the side cushions. It also broke midway along the frame with only 2 of us using it. (We turned it upside down and the frame was made of particle board and it had cracked).

Well there’s two of us, so it wasn’t a trial.

I agree about the tray. Where are you supposed to put the things like big cooking spoons that don't fit in its slots? The little plastic ridges are scratchy and hurt my fingers. The table knives are frequently not clean, despite leaving spaces between them, so many of them need to be handwashed again!

The only thing that helps that the cutlery is dry and can be put straight into the drawer and the cutlery into sections for easier unloading: e.g. all the knives in the front right corner of the tray.

Same! Smeg shockingly bad quality, I have hob and oven, difficult to use and likes to switch itself off mid cook.
Aunt bought fancy Smeg retro fridge freezer, about 2 grand, gave up the ghost just over two years, unfixable and out of warranty.

I agree smeg are hideous quality. All style over substance.

Was taking wergovy but got swept up in the hype that it was better and I've put on 4 kilos..

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 13/07/2025 11:20

I love my dyson cordless. I had a shark hoover and it was awful..

My DD16 loves the velvetiser and it gets used multiple times a day. She just uses galaxy hot chocolate powder.

I bought a beachwaver hair curling thing but I can't make my hair look as nice as the adverts and it drops out really quickly.

Blodtheplod · 13/07/2025 11:23

After reading this thread and having a Shark cordless vacuum on the way from an Amazon prime deal my heart sank.

I can confirm that it is indeed not great, not a lot of ‘suck’ on the carpets and it cannot replace my corded hoover.

Itll be ok for whizzing around the hard floors and upstairs but in a pet household it’s not going to cut it as a main vacuum cleaner 🤯

Arraminta · 13/07/2025 11:32

Just about every 4 country hotel we've ever stayed in. Typically £250 per night, but always slightly shabby, poor quality bedding, trickling shower and surly, teenage staff. Now, we either do a Premier Inn for overnights or go proper 5.

Two linen covered Laura Ashley sofas. Flimsy construction and the covers ripped within 3 years.

Jones Road Miracle Balm. Glittery, gloopy lard that smells like Germolene.

Special Edition Mini Copper that I'd coveted for months. I barely ever drove it because it was always breaking down. I was on first name terms with the receptionist at the dealership.

I got the Braun one (not cordless - not like you need to walk around doing it. Mine was just under £500 in the sale (should have been £900). I struggled to justify it but now wish I’d bought it so much sooner.

Hibernatingtilspring · 13/07/2025 11:35

Karcher hard floor cleaner. It did do a great job the first three times we used it - then stopped working. When we did a bit more research turned out to be a common problem due to poor design that meant an inaccessible part would get blocked. Ended up binning it and going back to a regular mop and bucket.

Panda89 · 13/07/2025 10:00

Another vote for the Eufy robot cleaner. Ours has twice ran over cat sick and smeared it all over downstairs. Grim.
Also it ran over a crayon once and drew lines all over the floor. Stopped using it after the above incidents.

You can hardly blame the design of the Eufy for trying to pick up you've left on the floor! That's what it's designed for.

I've got a Eufy and I wouldn't be without it. Cost a fifth what my Dyson Eye did and I have had no problems since buying it three years ago.

DryIce · 13/07/2025 08:45

What do you use instead of the hotel Chocolat sachets? Teach me!

@DryIce I sometimes just use normal hot chocolate powder. It still goes frothy. I haven't tried yet but seen people just chop up a normal chocolate bar and use too!

Another vacuum related one- a cordless Shark for me too. So many of my friends have them, recommended highly, but it’s a bit crap, hair gets stuck in it, it doesn’t pick up well, just overall disappointed.

The skin on my face is quite patchy and I spent about two years buying Temple Spa products online, usually spending around £100-£140 on 2/3/4 products every other month. Stopped during covid as no one was really seeing my skin anyway, and started using Primark serums (the Ordinary dupes!) that are about £3 each, and Lacura (Aldi) moisturiser for £1.50 and my skin has never looked better!

Yes, I switched from years of Clinique etc to Simple face wash on a night, plain water am, and Baby Aveeno moisturiser day and night. My skin is the best it's ever been.
I have a love hate relationship with my Shark vacuum. Love whizzing round with it, and being able to get under furniture without bending, but it's rubbish at edges, and spits out big crumbs!

DeclineandFall · 13/07/2025 11:43

Bosch anything- back in the day when they were toppish end of the market. Washing machine lasted - 2 years. Went through a series of 3 dishwashers in 6 years. Really expensive fridge freezer leaked constantly and then died. Its like they were all programmed to conk out after 2 years.
Machine repair man told me to cut my losses and just buy somehting else- and I went cheaper rather than more expensive. At the moment the dishwasher is a Hotpoint, the big fridge is a Kenwood and the washingmachine is a Beko and they've all been great (touch wood) and if they die I won't have expensive buyers regret.
