Mine is a cordless Dyson vacuum. Cost loads, has a poor battery, doesn’t pick up well, so overrated. Gets rave reviews - why?? My next one will be a Henry ;-) My other is overpriced, average pub/cafe grub when out as a family. Such a waste of time, money and effort. Sorry, I’m usually more upbeat…

I’m glad I’ve seen this, I was just about to buy one!

My eufy is great. The thing I regret is the Vax spot wash. I have a big upright carpet cleaner that is good and thought the smaller one would be good for the odd mishap. It just doesn’t get it dry enough afterwards.

Moonnstars · 13/07/2025 11:48

Just thought of another thing..bissel carpet cleaner. I am sure we have only ever used it once and it didn't do a great job. It's now taking up room in the garage.
The washing machine - chose a Hotpoint and that's pretty rubbish too but until it properly breaks I am not replacing it.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/07/2025 11:48

A Bosch washing machine that (unlike my former) has no ‘just spin’ function, only a ‘rinse and spin’ that you have to faff with to get ‘just spin’ and NB no instructions in the handbook!

So I mis-faffed after hand washing a jumper I’d recently knitted in around £80 worth of pure new wool, and just wanted to spin it.

But it did a lengthy rinse as well and my new jumper came out ready to fit a 2 year old. I’m still pissed off about it, and will never again buy a WM without a proper ‘just spin’ function.

You can hardly blame the design of the Eufy for trying to pick up you've left on the floor! That's what it's designed for.

I've got a Eufy and I wouldn't be without it. Cost a fifth what my Dyson Eye did and I have had no problems since buying it three years ago.

I’m not blaming the design, the concept doesn’t work for us as the cat is often sick overnight and it would then run it over before we even knew the cat had been sick …. I’m aware we need to clean up cat sick ourselves and we do.

Plastictreees · 13/07/2025 11:53

Dyson air wrap, hands down.

GreenGully · 13/07/2025 11:53

Dyson wet floor cleaner. It's no good on floors that aren't perfectly even. Practically useless on our textured slate tiles in the kitchen.

ItsFineReally · 13/07/2025 11:54

Dyson cool fan. The round one. It broke really quickly (and annoyingly just after the warranty).

Warmhandscoldheart · 13/07/2025 11:56

I brought some expensive Milkshake shampoo and conditioner from my hairdressers.
It was ok the first day after it was washed, the next day my hair felt straw like and it was a mass of tangles.
I persevered for 3 weeks with my hair condition worsening with each wash.
I'm back with my old reliable Pantene, hair feels so much better.

Petalflower98 · 13/07/2025 11:56

Dyson airwrap…partner brought me it as a present for our anniversary. I have really thick curly hair and he thought it might cut down the time it takes for me to tame after a shower.
was the opposite I would sit for ages trying to get it to do something apart form just dry my hair and anything I did would last for 30 mins. Went back to my £15 hairdryer and straighter.

i do however love the Dyson cordless vacuums… even brought my mum one.

Plastictreees · 13/07/2025 12:04

@Petalflower98 I also have thick hair which is long, I spent a fortune on products to get the air wrap curls to last… with zero success! I love my Dyson hairdryer though and cordless vacuum. I just don’t think the airwrap is adequately hot enough for certain hair types to be able to hold. Disappointing!

I'm fully convienced that Dyson is a marketing company rather than a product manufacturer because their products are absolutely rubbish.

Not great are they?! I have always found my Henry Hoover is the best I have ever had. Had my current one since 2013, and it still works as well as the day I bought it!

Babylis big hair…

Surprised at this - this gadget changed my life! I love it so much I keep a brand new "spare" for when it stops working so I'm never without one.

I've always struggled to blow dry my hair properly, using a hairdryer and brush to smooth and add volume whilst drying like the hairdresser does - and found it impossible to do the back.

The Babyliss Big Hair does this job quickly and easily, leaving my hair looking smooth but with a bit of body.

I've bought loads of different hair gadgets over the years and most have been useless, but this is one of the best things I ever spent money on.

I have a Henry and it is absolutely great, it has one job and it does it well. No fancy functions, not much to go wrong either. It's been going strong for about 3 years now

DeclineandFall · 13/07/2025 12:30

My Dyson DC01 vacuum was a game changer back in 1995. It was amazing. Everyone I've bought since then has been more shit and more expensive. I am still using the DC03 which has had multiple parts replaced and thankfully I hadn't thrown out. I will have to replace it soon as it is making weird noises. Never had a cordless vac that was actually very good. Might need to get a Henry. Which colour though?

JMSA · 13/07/2025 12:31

Please, if anyone is in a quandary about hoovers, just do yourself a favour and buy a Miele.

JMSA · 13/07/2025 12:33

Someone should forward this thread to Dyson!

Areyouactuallyjokingme · 13/07/2025 12:33

@TeenLifeMum thank you 💐 I'll have a look.

Cremefraicheeee · 13/07/2025 12:54

Emma Mattress, returned it after two weeks. Was incredible hot, uncomfortable and absolute crap.

Also the always pan I got my husband for his birthday. It’s fine but not for the money they cost!

However love my iPad/Macbook, but I’m an illustrator and use them for work. Bought a windows laptop once, never again!

Bosch anything- back in the day when they were toppish end of the market. Washing machine lasted - 2 years. Went through a series of 3 dishwashers in 6 years. Really expensive fridge freezer leaked constantly and then died. Its like they were all programmed to conk out after 2 years.
Machine repair man told me to cut my losses and just buy somehting else- and I went cheaper rather than more expensive. At the moment the dishwasher is a Hotpoint, the big fridge is a Kenwood and the washingmachine is a Beko and they've all been great (touch wood) and if they die I won't have expensive buyers regret.

I’ve been really disappointed by Bosch stuff too - but got persuaded into buying another of their washing machines and tumble dryers. The washing machine does at least have a spin only option on it but doesn’t seem to be that special. The tumble is a nightmare - it just doesn’t reliably dry things, even when it’s set io extra dry. There’s only needs to be one fleece mixed in with a load (often happens) and it will stop drying the moment the fleece is vaguely dry (but still damp) even if there’s lots of other T-shirts and trousers and cotton underwear in there. I’d of ended up doing a late uniform wash (despite my best efforts) and I needed clean dry uniform for the next day it was a nightmare. Even taking the fleece thing out wouldn’t always work and it would still just say it was finished when it was still really wet - and that’s excluding the times that it finished because it had an error because then at least I could do something about that. Next time I need a new tumble or washer I’m not getting Bosch.

Likewise after two Bosch dishwashers giving up the ghost, I’ve tried a Blomberg from Eyronics this time and it seems to be doing well so far.

having said that, I’d had Panasonic microwaves for ever as they were supposed to be the good ones. Initially I’d had the one that also worked as an oven but realised that that was more of a faff a I’d you accidentally used the cooker option rather than the microwave option it was dangerously and killed the food and and non-glass cooker used plus it was a pain to set as it seemed to default to the cooker when we nearly always used it as a microwave. Even the microwave only options just seemed to be getting unreliable - so went for Bosch one last time and it’s been great so far 🤞 so I would actually go for another Bosch microwave.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour products. Read the ingredients, it’s just petroleum jelly (Vaseline) with a bit of scent.

I've been using the Eight Hour HydraPlay skin perfecting moisturiser for several months now and I love it! It has actually made a difference to my skin.

It contains hyaluronic acid and squalene, so it definitely isn't just petroleum jelly.

Siemens dishwasher. You’d have thought I’d have learned my lesson after the first one but then went and bought another one. Equally as shit. I gave up and bought a Miele - to go with my Miele washing machine that I love ( my previous one lasted 20 years)
