On a very gentle amble to a pub in the cotswolds this evening, a young man around 14, asked my 71 Yr old mother her opinion on 'beating the meat'.

Myself, having heard my mother's reply of 'I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean' (she certainly did, the wily old fox) but nothing else, turned to him and asked him to repeat. He then, very smoothly, asked what my opinion was on Man United. Shamefully, I told him (I don't wish to repeat). On asking him who he supported he tapped his man u bottle and ran away.

AIBU to spread this encounter far and wide to alert the church elders?

What an unsavoury comment from the young man. I hope he learns a lesson soon that it's absolutely not acceptable

I really wish! This did actually just happen. I've probably masked with humour but was, as I said above rather shocked. My mother was young in the 70s so not too bothered 😆

Dear lord, even my mother knows that one 😁...OK, I think you think I'm a teenage boy who has started this thread but I'm really not (well one did start it, inadvertently, but he's still kicking a ball around probably blissfully unaware)....anyway, my mum had a good laugh tonight and has never featured in a mumsnet thread before so that's something....

My first thought would actually be "Oh, does he watch Sorted Food on YouTube?" They just had an episode where they made battuta which they had great hilarity with because it essentially translates to 'beating the meat'.

Sadly not, I didn't realise what he'd asked so stupidly entertained his faux man u questions grrrrr. Does disturb me off even tho me and mum laughed all the way home (as is easier i suppose)

I might have been tempted to have an earnest conversation with him about how it's better to do it without resorting to porn as that blunts sensitivity and makes men much worse at DTD when they actually get together with someone in real life, if they ever get that fortunate. It would have made him absolutely squirm to have to discuss this with an elderly woman who knows exactly what she's talking about.
