I cannot see how his ‘one in one out’ plan is going to help. I also can’t understand why France is cooperating with us. What’s the incentive?

We have high levels of unemployment and a whole bunch of graduates unable to get a job. While its credible that people from other countries are filling job roles its really not necessary.
1 in 1 out does not undo the burden on the nhs, the lack of housing or the social barriers created by complete opposite of societal norms and practices. Unless you are super privileged, then you are not blind to the culture wars that inevitably follow

So.... You're fleeing war and terror. You stop at France (as well as many other safe European countries) you choose to head through death risking waters on a glorified lilo , why ? Come on. Why ?

Were you under the impression they're French? I believe the top countries are Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Eritrea which have severe human rights abuses, which is why they're claiming asylum.

Well how do we know for a start? They rip up their passports..

But facetiousness aside, what you are saying is that someone from say Iraq wants to leave there to.earn more money. Probably a young man. So they travel illegally into the EU and then travel illegally through the EU,.entering and exiting various safe countries. All the while not claiming asylum. And then they pay the people smugglers to illegally cross the Channel to illegally enter the UK. There's no urgency. They've been travelling across Europe and no one is chasing them. So they are not in fear for their life. They then get told by some human rights lawyer in the UK that they have to pretend to be gay or a Christian that is in danger of persecution. Because then they are no longer illegals but "asylum seekers". So they can stay for processing. At tax payers expense. And we didn't invite them. And they have no fear of persecution as they travelled across Europe going through lots of countries with less generous benefits systems than ours.

Comparatively, we are money rich and land poor. I've never understood why we can't pay money towards the asylum seekers, but they live in a safe country that has more available land.

The money would build the infrastructure, we'd have less burden on our resources.
