@Redheadedstepchild - have sent you a PM.

Thanks, I've just reported myself.

You mentioned in a previous thread about a James Walker - the nephew - who had posted in LinkedIn about them. Would really like to read it but the link is broken. Maybe it was taken down after his Aunty spotted it! What did it say?

Essentially that they are pathological liars and have left a trail of destruction in their wake.

And he's a friend of a very good friend of mine- he's legit (and well respected from what I have heard)

It would be very interesting to know why he and his wife deleted their posts, what the background is to what they said in them and whether they intend to say anymore, perhaps to The Observer even if off the record.

Oh, I am so annoyed that my exposé of the pigeon tower had to be removed for too many personal details!

Correct call, of course, OP but I really want to know the truth that lurks within the Village de Dropt.

Was there ever a Dropt Lasagne party there? With an ice cream van and rhubarb lollies?

On Simon Armitage, about midway through TSP, when Moth again mistaken for him.. why didn’t they google? They think he was a writer etc so surely with a bit of nous they’d have solved the enduring & bugging mystery?

When I read the book I just assumed the whole SA story was completely fabricated to add a bit of "interest" to the story. Not least because they don't look remotely similar

(But then I am a cynic who had their number when I read the nonsense explanation for losing their home and the ridiculous excuses why they couldn't possibly live in a "council house" )

I thought maybe just one person asked, and then it became an embellished story.

In fairness, they seem to have had a single, ancient mobile without a power bank, so usually uncharged, and without credit, and when they turned it on, it was to call their kids. Lots of references to it getting wet and not working, or having used all their credit. I think there’s a reference to their daughter saying she’s going to buy them a better one at one point. But I doubt Googling was uppermost in their minds.

How can there be?

Just copy the headline and paste it into Google - after a few hours their articles are usually syndicated and on MSN, Yahoo news, etc.

Whoever knew that a pigeon tower was a thing?

Choux · 10/07/2025 23:36

It’s a pigeonnier in French which google translate tells me is a dovecote in English.

Not a smart phone/iphone then? Ahhh…Thanks.

Yes, that's probably most likely.

DisappointedReader · 11/07/2025 01:05

I mean, it’s not Watergate!

No, it is Walkergate.

It's going to be the, "Property In France" angle. That could be a very rich seam to mine. Especially as it's summer.

I doubt it. There are no end of tumbledown properties on a patch of land in rural France. I doubt that it cost Tim Walker more than £30,000.

PrettyDamnCosmic · 11/07/2025 05:53

Aspanielstolemysanity · 10/07/2025 18:36

The Sasha/Avi story (and other similar suggestions of multiple lies /deceit ) is definitely angle I would like to see followed up

Ditto the neurologist story. Both his book review and the Feb 2025 letter are truly odd. Something feels "off" there

And I think the other angle is the French property. its just implausible. Why get into more debt to do that? It's stretching the limits of credibility.

Sue's defence of the bookkeeping being a mess she tried to fix I dont buy for a minute. If that was the case, why vanish before the police interview and show up with all the money and an NDA? That's not the behaviour Of an innocent person. If it quacks like a duck and all that...

Don't forget the nephew who says the pair are pathological liars who have left a trail of destruction in their wake.

Do you subscribe? Nothing more frustrating than a feature linked to but behind a paywall. @Catwith69lives

Can you open it, copy and paste?

The trick is to go to archive.ph & put the paywalled URL into the box labelled I want to search the archive for saved snapshots & hitting the Search button It's usually the case that an archived version will be available for any popular webpage as they are for the one in question.

This was an interesting comment under The Bookseller story. Just seen it on FB. I wonder whether they know more.

Interesting comments on the Bookseller's FB page by somebody who claims to have known Martin Hemmings and the background of Sally and Timothy Walker in Pwilheli. .

Martin H’s apparent sister also on FB recently saying similar.

Bruisername · 11/07/2025 07:19

But in both of those there are people desperate to defend her

’well she wasn’t charged’ - not seeming to understand that’s because she paid the money back!

I know. And noone innocent is going to handover £64000 rather than face some police questioning!!
