It’s like drinking a bouquet of flowers 🤢

Earl grey tea. Hot.

I named one of my cats after him 🥰

KWaldron · 09/07/2025 17:01

You think that the millions of people like me who drink it, are all pretending to like it?

😁

If you’re saying this tongue in cheek then yes! You are all the great tea pretenders.

If you’re being serious then you are missing the light heartedness of this post.

I'm my second favourite after Darjeeling.

Lovely with one sugar and no milk. I also love rose and violet cremes so it's hardly surprising.

SerendipityJane · 09/07/2025 17:14

I love Early Grey but simply can't drink it quickly enough not to lose it's aroma. Tried absolutely everything.

Anyone tried Wittards Earl Grey biscuits ?

Why does nothing else use bergamot ?

FourLove · 09/07/2025 17:17

Me!

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 09/07/2025 17:18

Mt mum loves the stuff.

I think its foul with milk but is good black with lemon.

But imo you cant beat a good builders tea Keep your posh teas, give me an extra strong Yorkshire tea with an obscene amount of sugar and a couple of digestives.

I used to love Brooke bond d but I dont think its around any more.

So here’s a question (no offense intended)….

How old are you regular earl grey drinkers? Is it an old lady’s drink? 😂

Im thinking like Chanel no 5 vibes or Turkish delight…

Edited

I was 13 when I first discovered Earl Grey. 55 now never looked back. Never learned to stomach a "British cuppa" (or milk in tea)

ThatLoudBear · 09/07/2025 19:55

I don't like it. I LOVE it!

user1497787065 · 09/07/2025 20:25

I only drink earl grey and have done for 40 years.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 09/07/2025 20:49

I don’t drink it often but do enjoy a mug of earl grey from time to time.

NotrialNodeal · 09/07/2025 20:50

If you like the taste of perfume than Earl grey is the tea for you!

AllPlayedOut · 09/07/2025 20:55

I love Turkish delight and anything flavoured with rose and violet and I still can’t bear Earl Grey. I much prefer standard black tea or Darjeeling.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 09/07/2025 21:04

Decaf Earl Grey.... Does this raise or lower my status on the acceptable tea drinking scale?

Enigma53 · 09/07/2025 21:09

I’m with you OP, EG is weirdly grim. If I’m going to drink tea, I far prefer a nice cup of something herbal.

ObtuseMoose · 09/07/2025 21:13

T2s French Earl Grey is absolutely delicious.

Notouchingmybhuna · 09/07/2025 21:15

Naice earl grey is gorgeous. Cheap earl grey is nasty.

Earlgreyonly · 09/07/2025 21:16

YANBU. However, I actually have a strong preference for Earl Grey, with milk - I know, grim.

Trained myself to like it at uni because normal teabags would get nicked and nobody, even desperate students, would pinch an Earl Grey. And somehow I came to prefer it.

My tea-drinking-champion mum calls it gnat’s piss, thus proving the overall success of my plan. Always plenty of tea for me!

I only drink earl grey

Me too !

EndofDaze · 09/07/2025 21:27

Used to love Early Grey but menopause has ruined it for me. It’s done a number on my taste buds and now just tastes wrong.

neverbeenskiing · 09/07/2025 21:33

I only drink Earl Grey. Has to be Twinnings though, the supermarket own brand EG is horrible.

LaughingCat · 09/07/2025 21:38

I’m not fond of Lady Grey, find it a bit too much, but a cup of light black Earl Grey is my favourite. Don’t let it steep too long and milk is a no no but it’s the nicest brew in my arsenal. Lapsang Souchong, on the other hand, I just can’t take. Way too bitter for me.

Just remembered I have some of these in the cupboard! I’ll make a brew and open them, and report right back!

I am 52 but been drinking EG since I met my now husband nearly 30 years ago. I hate Chanel no 5 and Turkish delight

Fangisnotacoward · 09/07/2025 21:54

I prefer Lady Grey, it's not as full on as Earl Grey
