It’s like drinking a bouquet of flowers 🤢

I love EG; I drink a couple from Bird and Blend - Smoky Earl Grey which is a lapsang souchong blend with the bergamot, plus the slightly more regular Earl Grey Creme

I love Bird and Blend. They do the best teas. Currently obsessed with their peaches and cream matcha.

Bergamot is the top note in many perfumes...

It was actually invented to disguise the taste of the water on the Earl's estate in Northumberland.

You can visit the gardens on the estate & drink the real thing in the Earl Grey Tearooms. The cakes are very good too!

So they chose something even more foul tasting to disguise the taste of foul water. Now it all makes sense! 😂😂😂

You haven’t tried Williamson’s.

Yes! And perfumes don’t belong in tea!

Love it. Sainsbury's own is really nice.

BIossomtoes · 09/07/2025 13:41

It’s my favourite tea.

Squishymallows · 09/07/2025 13:42

I’ve only drunk earl grey for the last decade. Met my husband and he tried it with me and now he prefers it! Neither of us drink plain black tea

Francestein · 09/07/2025 13:43

Also fabulous finely ground of course, with a wee bit of vanilla

OohRains · 09/07/2025 13:43

I get it on subscription from Brew Tea Co. Along with a Lapsang Souchong sub!

ThatDaringEagle · 09/07/2025 13:43

I love Earl Grey tea - so refreshing!! :)

Auroraloves · 09/07/2025 13:44

I prefer Lady grey

Londonrach1 · 09/07/2025 13:45

Yabu. Everyone has different tastes. I don't understand why anyone drinks tea full stop it smells like a child playing with leaves in the garden and smells like old stale water. Coffee again I wouldn't drink but at least it smells amazing even if it tastes awful to me. I bet alot of people don't like what I drink... tap water or with Abit of roses lime. We all like different things which is good. I've made a cup of tea for a patient today and they seemed to like it. Think it might have even been Earl Gray

Ahsheeit · 09/07/2025 13:45

I do. Just black, on its own.

DisabledDemon · 09/07/2025 13:45

I find that the bergamot gives me a sore throat. I'd rather have Jasmine or Lapsang.

edited to include Lapsang

CoubousAndTourmalet · 09/07/2025 13:45

I used to love it, but it gives me headaches, so I can't drink it any more.

Love it. No milk, though, that's disgusting. Lemon and a bit of sugar. Much prefer it to regular tea.

Bergamot is a citrus fruit. Do you also object to lemon tea?

afaloren · 09/07/2025 13:47

I don’t drink it but I keep it in for friends who do. One of whom has milk in it which seems especially grim.

I’m a plain old Yorkshire Tea woman myself, although I do also like mint, rooibos and chamomile. Not together! And a sleepy time tea to take to bed sometimes.

@Ontheedgeofit I first heard of rooibos in those No 1 Lady’s Detective books so tried it and loved it!

luckylavender · 09/07/2025 13:47

I do. Not a big fan of ordinary tea though.

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 09/07/2025 13:47

I like it. My mother never understood why my husband hated it though!
