It’s like drinking a bouquet of flowers 🤢

Oh and yes to Williamson’s. My favourite. Tetley’s Earl Grey is actually surprisingly good too.

WhycantBarryswim · 09/07/2025 13:29

It's called FPW in our house - flowery piss watery. I hate it but DH loves it! He's obviously wrong.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 09/07/2025 13:29

It's the only tea I'll drink. 💙

Tryingtokeepgoing · 09/07/2025 13:29

I don't like english breakfast / builders tea at all, and never drink it, but I will have earl grey, green or cammomile tea when the mood takes me :)

😂

I have to confess that I am not British. So my tea drinking palette is probably not very refined as I thought it was.

Im a good old cup of plain tea (English breakfast I would say) and here in SA we drink rooibos but I’m not sure I would consider it a true tea.

I'm British and I hate "regular" British tea, always have. I mainly drink matcha or loose-leaf green tea, but I can manage Earl Grey because it taste less like the grass bin after a week. There are lots of us heathens out there!

Love it! Grew up on it and much prefer it to any other tea, can't stand green tea but can tolerate 'builders tea' if Earl Grey is not available. My husband hates it but my 16 yo son also prefers it.

DazedandConfused1234 · 09/07/2025 13:30

I love it, and so does my 15yo DD. Only tea she likes. I have trained her well!

I also like Lady Grey but haven't had it for ages. Must get some...

Did you know you can get rooibos earl grey? I have it in the evenings.

AnotherEmily · 09/07/2025 13:32

Earl Grey is beyond awful!

Dorset tea is my favourite tea.

Us South Africans would never do that to Rooibos. 😂

My mum does. Won’t drink anything else.

i always drink it when I’m ill because I always used to have earl grey tea with several spoons of sugar when ill.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 09/07/2025 13:33

It's the only black tea I drink. Can't do builders...

Francestein · 09/07/2025 13:34

I love it, but it’s getting harder and harder to find with real bergamot as opposed to bergamot essence. For some reason, bergamot essence just makes you taste bag the tea is brewed in.

Loose leaf is the way to go. You don't need to faff with a teapot, just get yourself a ball infuser.

Love earl grey and clearly by reading this thread and the poll results it shows I am not alone in that so you’re wrong Op 😄

Ontheedgeofit · 09/07/2025 13:35

I’m being educated in Bergamot, thank you.

I had no idea what the flavor or aroma was about. Just assumed it was some weird British tea.

you do know that YOU are the weirdo though? 😂

ThousandYardStare · 09/07/2025 13:38

I love EG; I drink a couple from Bird and Blend - Smoky Earl Grey which is a lapsang souchong blend with the bergamot, plus the slightly more regular Earl Grey Creme

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 09/07/2025 13:39

Ooh, I love it! Prefer it to “normal” tea.

Ontheedgeofit · 09/07/2025 13:25

I always stand in the tea section of the grocery store and wonder who buys it and it’s all of you!

Early grey is the second best selling tea, or as I like to look at it, not as common ;)

It was actually invented to disguise the taste of the water on the Earl's estate in Northumberland.

You can visit the gardens on the estate & drink the real thing in the Earl Grey Tearooms. The cakes are very good too!

No no…. It sets me apart from all of you.

It’s going to become some sort of character judgement for me in future before I befriend anyone… ‘So…tell me what kind of tea you like?’

Looks like I may end up with no friends. British friends at least. Us here on this side of the equator know ALOT better.
