Favourite lazy arse dinners

As per title. Tonight I have a plate of pasta (fusilli) with butter melted through and cheddar cheese on top. Teaspoon of lazy garlic mixed through with the butter. When I’m being less disgusting I melt butter and a little garlic into the fusilli, add tuna or chicken and basil, and squeeze a lemon over. But the ultimate lazy dinner is literally a heap of pasta covered in cheese.

What are your ultimate lazy arse dinners?

cook pasta, add pesto. Done.

I freeze pesto into portions in the freezer because using a whole jar two days after opening just ain't happening.

Oh good thinking, does pesto freeze ok?

caringcarer · 06/07/2025 22:42

A glass of wine

Horseebooks · 06/07/2025 22:42

Mama Thai pot noodle flavouring in with some extra red curry paste, fish balls, coconut milk, five min the. veg, five min then the noodle, coriander.

or handfuls of cereal like a pony

Black pudding slices cooked in the air fryer. Spread them on to toast then top with curried mackerel, straight from the peelable tin. Delectable. Once you get over seeing it for the first time and thinking what in the fk is this medley.

Toast. Toast and marmite, jam, sandwich spread, cheese on toast, egg on toast. If I’m feeling like pushing the boat out, jacket potato with cheese and beans.

A bag of microwave rice heated in the frying pan with an egg cracked into it and a handful of frozen peas

Fried rice, yum

Actually, that is one I love on a lazy hot day but I go with pistachios and balsamic glaze instead of feta. Grilled halloumi if I have it.

Ooo, I'll definitely try your version! Thank you.

Ladamesansmerci · 06/07/2025 22:47

Beans on toast.
Those pasta bags that take 3 mins to boil.
A kiddie meal: chicken dippers, beans, oven chips.

I also love pasta, ketchup, and cheese, and eat it when I'm ill. It comforts me, idk why 😂

Tinned ravioli

When I was single, I sometimes had a tin of ravioli with buttered toast and parmesan! Sometimes I just had a stiff gin!

Nowadays - a bag of caesar salad, sundried tomatoes, shredded chicken and nice garlic bread, or

Bag of herby leaves with some chopped cucumber and cherry tomatoes, with smoked salmon and micro new potatoes.

Freezing pesto! 😮 I’ve never thought of this. The amount of half jars of pesto I bin 😬 I always thought the jars should be half the size

Beans on toast or baked potato and cheese. I could eat those all the time. If feeling depressed or anxious a chocolate muffin and a yoghurt.

jenny38 · 06/07/2025 22:51

Peppered mackerel, packet microwave rice. Cabbage stir fried with coriander seeds, cumin seeds and chilli. Takes 5 minutes

Me too, game changer if it does.

A tortilla spread with pesto or tomato purée and grated cheese plus whatever you want to add from the fridge eg peppers and a bit of ham or chicken, heat in a frying pan until the cheese starts to melt then fold it in half (like making an omlette) and flip it. Instant quesadilla.

We do this my DC call them pizza pockets! Tomato puree one side, grated cheese (from a bag of course) and add toppings; ham, mushrooms, pepper, pepperoni, whatever you fancy. Fold in half, use a frying pan and cook both sides. Like a calzone. My eldest will make them for everyone while I fry them! Great for school holidays lunches too 🙌🏻

Cheese & crackers or marmite on toast- ultimately lazy dinner not cooking anything.

Watermelon with feta on top. Some mint if I'm feeling fancy.

Are you me, that’s all I’m eating at the moment!

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/07/2025 22:59

Scour the freezer for all the bits and bobs of beige crap and bung it in the air fryer.

AKA Iceland Tapas.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/07/2025 23:01

Also, not buying the OP as a "lazy" dinner. Was clearly fishing for compliments and superiority.

Needsleepneedcoffee · 06/07/2025 23:01

Frozen peas in the microwave
Idahoan mash courtesy of the kettle
Sausages from the air fryer.

Youdontseehow · 06/07/2025 23:03

Two Magnum Billionaires or star chasers - not even joking (although I’m on Mounjaro now so it’s now a high protein yoghurt!)

reversegear · 06/07/2025 23:04

Pot noodle

usedtobeaylis · 06/07/2025 23:07

Frozen crispy chicken with a salad. Or plastic cheese slices on toast like a sandwich 😬

PinkTonic · 06/07/2025 23:19

I’d have toasted crumpets with marmite if it was just me. Or an air fryer cheese and chilli crisp toastie. Otherwise M&S slow cooked chilli done on the hob with either microwave rice or garlic bread in the air fryer with a dollop of soured cream and chopped jalapeños on top or carbonara which takes as long as boiling the spaghetti.

Gettingbysomehow · 06/07/2025 23:20

Cereal with skimmed milk and pumpkin seeds.

Mirabai · 06/07/2025 23:20

Buckwheat noodles with garlic and mushrooms.
