I swear I'm not a pearl clutcher but slightly shocked at the amount of little girls at the Sabrina concert

I was at Sabrina's concert at Hyde Park yesterday and a good segment of the audience were little girls think between 8-12). Not only are most of the lyrics not really age appropriate but many of them were wearing hot pants and make up. Even my teenage daughter (who I was accompanying) thought it was a bit odd. The show was very PG (and there was a parental guidance disclaimer), so at least she's aware of who listens to her music.

Sabrina 69' on the back from the merch stand

We've finally reached peak degeneracy.

I remember having to stop my sister from loudly singing the lyrics to the outro to Kids by Kylie and Robbie Williams.

I′m an honorary Sean Connery, born ′74
There's only one of me
Single-handedly raising the economy
Ain′t no chance of the record company dropping me
Press be asking: do I care for sodomy?
I don't know, yeah, probably
I′ve been looking for serial monogamy
Not some bird that looks like Billy Connolly
But for now I'm down for ornithology

Well, hardly, and I didn't say that but imo it's a bit yuck to dress your child in clothes with a clear sexual reference.

I'm thinking of the Sabrina who sang 'boys, boys, boys,' the video was pretty racy, or is this someone else?

Ha me too. I thought she’d had a random resurgence!

Chikdren don’t really listen to the lyrics it’s all just sounds or if they do the meaning goes right over their head. Madonnas Papa Don’t Preach about teen pregnancy I thought was about peach flavoured poppadoms at 8 years old. Like a virgin…I didn’t even think about what she meant!
About the same time as I asked my mother was a lesbian was.

Her album cover was a disgrace.

@MyDadWasAnArseYes! And ‘Sex Bomb’ by Tom Jones, ‘2 become 1’ - Spice Girls, ‘The Bad Touch’ the Bloodhound Gand, ‘Thong Song’ -Sisqo, ‘Genie in a Bottle’ -Christina,

I mean people can say 'but what about Frankie goes to Hollywood, Madonna, Mousse T' etc etc but I doubt anyone was taking their 8 year old daughters to see them perform. Kids might have heard the song on the radio but I doubt anyone was buying their tween 'Horny 98'.

Sabrina has definitely moved on from cutesy Disney girl - in Juno the words include 'Mark your territory' (ick) 'I'm so fucking horny' 'Wanna try out some freaky positions' 'Don't have to tell your hot ass a thing' stuff about pink fluffy hand cuffs etc etc

As for kids wearing merch with 69 on it, I can't believe people can't see the issue with tweens in clothing referencing sexual positions. People won't put a picture of their kid up on facebook for fear of random dodgy men but they'll let them walk around in clothing referencing oral sex. The mind boggles.

there’s no change at all in the misogyny you’re spouting.

Teenage girls cannot do anything right.
As ever.

Their interests are facile, they’re too grown up or not grown up enough, they’re not spending enough of their time on domestic or caring tasks, etc etc.

There really is nothing new under the sun.

It's not misogyny to say that teenage girls should be able to do household tasks. That's just bringing children up to be independent and essential parenting. Obviously boys should be taught the same stuff - for their own good as much as for their future relationships.
