No shit.

Rispknee · 02/07/2025 15:43

Actually the one time I've cried at work was when I delivered a very difficult message, that I'd been asked to do by my boss, who then backed down when the staff reacted with outrage, leaving it looking like it had been my decision which she didn't support.

I didn't stay in that job for long after that.

Dwimmer · 02/07/2025 15:43

Goldenbear · 02/07/2025 15:38

Nige is that you?

The Labour Party is with me on this - they abandoned all women short lists at the last election. And despite being a beneficiary, even Angela Raynor recognised it would have been better to have won in a fight against any man who wished to stand for election too.

goldfishbowl2025 · 02/07/2025 15:43

Fucking vat on school fees - she’s fucked up

Mumble12 · 02/07/2025 15:43

There is a significant amount of families working extremely part time or not working at all and claiming the child and housing element of universal credit which costs tax payers significantly more then supporting disabled people who have no choice but we dont talk about that we only talk about how awful and lazy disabled people are as they are an easy target.

Talking about free school meals has precisely 0 to do with demonising the disabled. I have never expressed a desire for the disabled to have their benefits reduced.

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 15:44

WiganWheel · 02/07/2025 15:37

@EasternStandard he’s doing a reasonable job. And I seriously mean that! Better than Bozo Fuckwit and his tribe……what a damn mess they made.
I mean, for gods sake, just let everyone get on and govern. No one needs to be going anywhere because they say so or don’t support Labour.
I’m concerned that RR is in tears in the Commons. Just been through the bloody menopause myself…..laugh a minute that was…….but we all try our best. She is human.

What’s with the menopause stuff in posts. It’s more likely the sheer stress of her own party moving against her policies. And Starmer’s response to the question.

You may not have but lots on here have

Baninarama · 02/07/2025 15:44

She's a woman with an unenviable job - there isn't any money, and she's being expected to balance the needs of every department, all of whom are shouting for more.

She isn't incompetent - she's the first Chancellor in a good while who actually has an economics degree. Yes, the NI changes haven't gone down well, but if we want good services we have to pay more tax, and loading some of that on business is unfortunately more palatable for most than increasing income tax. At least the burden is shared with employers.

As for welfare, tackling this was always going to be an absolute shit show. But what should the government do? Let the bill for benefits keep climbing till the few left in work are absolutely broken by the demands of those who can't work - or try and reduce the bill by encouraging people into work. Unfortunately the government needs money and so this was rushed through - there was the mistake. But it isn't a fatal mistake and all those calling for Starmer to resign are very deluded.

crumblingschools · 02/07/2025 15:44

@Soulfulunfurling so are you saying someone with a job like that shouldn't be able to have time off for bereavement, they should just carry on. If someone in that role was having a shit time, I would rather they have time off to recover from that rather than carry on regardless, they might not be visibly sobbing, doesn't mean they are mentally in the right place to be carrying out an operation.

its2025 · 02/07/2025 15:44

What I'm struggling to understand is why a show of emotion should have such a negative effect on the markets?? Shares are down and cost of borrowing has risen since the PMQ's started??
Weather she has personal issue - had a row with the speaker - or whatever surely our economy is not so fragile as to shake by the mere sight of a few tears???

xanthomelana · 02/07/2025 15:46

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 12:55

Her mh is likely in pieces. She’ll be too stressed to
function.

Well I hope she doesn’t plan on claiming PIP for her mental health, she should take her governments advice and just soldier on with it like they expect the peasants to do.

I can’t have any sympathy for this woman when her and her colleagues have caused untold misery for pensioners, the disabled and their carers. All actions have consequences and she’s finding that out the hard way.

MargoLivebetter · 02/07/2025 15:46

@its2025 I don't think it is the show of emotion, it is the uncertainty about her future. The markets don't like uncertainty and the lack of direct support from the PM today for his Chancellor will make them nervous.

MrsEndeavourMorse · 02/07/2025 15:48

She didn't seem too concerned about the disabled people she wants on the breadline and possibly worse. She's crying for her cushy job, not the lives she wants to ruin. No sympathy.

GoodbyeRosie · 02/07/2025 15:48

alexalisten · 02/07/2025 13:21

I wonder how many people killed themselves because of her. I also have no sympathy

What a completely disgusting post.

You ought to be ashamed of posting something so vile

Cara707 · 02/07/2025 15:48

That's better than all of the suicides that would have resulted from the governments' immoral plans.

Fucking vat on school fees - she’s fucked up

That was supposed to pay for thousands of teachers and breakfast clubs and last week KS said the VAT would pay for the massive investment in housing he announced as well.

Magical VAT which is being used for multiple promises over and over again. The Ministry of Magic must have been behind that one with a duplication charm.

Nonsense. Anyone can see it bar the head in the sand Labour posters on mn.

I’m not a Labour voter (or wasn’t).

Majority of the negativity comes from people who haven’t bothered to look into the detail of policies, are wealthy, or believe the wealthy (eg the press) as they feel they’re “trustworthy”.

I understand die hard Labour supporters not liking what is happening on a lot of policies, but the current government are doing far from a horrendous job.

Starmer also has a fantastic record as a MP doing good for his constituents, and in the CPS of holding up his hands when he got it wrong, and making it better.

We really really really need media reform in this country, they really are making people scared and less intelligent.

Dwimmer · 02/07/2025 15:49

TimeforaRoadtrip · 02/07/2025 15:42

is this some kind of sickening joke?!!!! My heart bloody bleeds for them 🤢🤮

You have sympathy for Reeves who chose her situation and caused millions to worry about finances or keeping warm in winter, but not for children having their education disrupted, leaving friends, possibly mid-course for GCSEs and having to drop subjects or try and catch up on a year’s teaching? What a peach you are.

Brightanddrywithsunnyspells · 02/07/2025 15:49

3luckystars · 02/07/2025 12:43

I think I would keel over first and get carted out before I’d let the tears out in front of people at work

Edited

😂Anyone who says women aren't funny doesn't read Mumsnet.
Great suggestion for getting her on the front page, for a different reason! I can't imagine the pressure she must be under. She's not making all the decisions alone, but she is the lemon in front of the camera. They're trying to go at the speed of light to clear up the mess left for them so they can start the economy growing again, and it's backfiring. Looking ahead my biggest fear is they'll be a one term government and Farage will slide in,( 'cos who really wants Kemi? she comes over as a bit unpleasant with no sense of humour) Remember Farage's tweet saying the Liz Truss disasterous budget was: '.. the best since 1986'. And when he scarpered off after causing Brexit? All talk, no action and worse - poor judgement.
There is much worse to come I fear. I am not a Labour voter, but least Kier's heart seems to be in the right place.
Ok ...may the shouting at me commence!

So? Much more competent men might have been selected if it were not for all-women short lists.

All women shortlists are to remove hiring biases like believing men are more competent than women from the process.

Labour are impacting people on a daily basis. Look at policies to do with NI, farmers, schools, they u turned on some others.

You might be immune but many aren’t.

Ah yes the weaponised suicide risk. In other debates this has been demonstrably proven to be vastly overstated.

Bitchesbelike · 02/07/2025 15:53

Woman in being a human being shocker. Not saying everyone should be going about being emotional, but a bit of humanity in politicians isn’t a bad thing
