No sympathy for RR.
Just disgust at how our country is being run.
I thought the Tories were terrible.
This last year is a whole new level of horror show.
Where does this end?
Our poor kids.

I googled what is Rachel reeves net worth and it came up 2 million in 2025

I just googled it too. 2 million dollars is around 1.5 million pounds. I would have thought a lot of people living in the south east would be worth that.

alexalisten · 02/07/2025 14:38

littleblueenvelope · 02/07/2025 14:37

@alexalistenbut that wasn’t going to happen?

We didn't know that at the start for months also how the government are flip flopping we still dont know that at the start we where being told if you lose pip you would also lose lcwra thats people's whole incomes

CherriesOnTheTop · 02/07/2025 14:39

alexalisten · 02/07/2025 14:35

But it is factual how long do you think disabled people last on the streets. How long do you think people live with bo income.

Nobody is left with no income in this country. If you were found at assessment to have the ability to work you'd be on the same money as those out of work and required to look for work.

How is any government meant to tackle this in a year? This happened under the Tories watch. I completely agree that economic migrants arriving illegally should not be given any right to remain but what do we do with them once they are here? If they were setting up huge tent cities the country would be up in arms, they have to be housed. The Tories were far too slow to build any kind of proper infrastructure to tackle this and it has ballooned out of control. It sounds easy to say ‘kick them out’ but have you any idea what a complicated process this is? Even leaving the EU can’t help us with this so the promises of ‘taking back control of the borders’ were a lie.

Lots of things are a complicated process but there is no will by Labour to tackle uncontrolled migration. There was at least will by the Tories when they brought in the Rwanda policy but Labour was against it from memory.

The lucrative world of public speaking.

Acquaintance married a wealthy woman, went to live in her naice mansion in Henley. She organised his life quangos left and right, investment advice. He was minted within a few years. Now he was a nobody before. Imagine being a minister who'd been in power. China, UAE, USA , would be throwing money at you to lobby for them.

Has no-one noticed these countries buying entire blocks of flats off plan in our cities.

Wait till they buy up hospitals, they've already got nursing homes.

We're the cow of opportunity.

She looked like she’d been up all night crying from the moment it started, then half way through a tear fell down her cheek. I felt really uncomfortable watching it. This shit show isn’t hers and hers alone.

Agree. My belief through my career that was that the big things going wrong are rarely one person’s fault. I do wonder what Keir Starmer is like as a boss.

?

First there was no info, so it was a fear, not a fact that you would have no income and be living on the streets. Then once there was info it was clear you wouldn't have your income taken away and that other benefits wouldn't be affected. So still not factual.

Edited to say other benefits

sunscreenqueen · 02/07/2025 14:40

I haven't agreed with her on many things but she does have a very difficult job and I wouldn't want to be in her shoes. Crying is a form of stress relief and to my mind it is healthy. Sure it would be better if she could do it privately but she is only human. I felt the same when Theresa May broke down during her resignation. I'm not a fan of her but she was essentially a decent public servant trying to do her best by the country. She has probably been missing sleep, and as I am the same age as her she is likely in peri. Its only a few tears let her cry, dry them and get on with hopefully doing a better job.

You think this is worse than the Tories? Do you have a short memory?

I don't care who you vote for - there's a woman who was visably upset at work and looked like she'd been through the absolute wringer she needs support and nothing else. No talk of policies or other stuff just full on support in her role to deal with whatever is being thrown her way at work.

Maybe get a third or fourth job? Give up netflix?

Take in ironing?

Edited

But if you have ever been through the pip process yourself would realise pip assessors cant be trusted to make the right decision everytime hence why 70% gets changed at tribunal. I absolutely should of always been ok but it doesnt mean I actually would of been.

Absolutely this. I'd be resigning. Head held high.

I think she is utterly terrible at her job and would imagine her to be quite twattish as a person but I agree. This is not ok.

AI. It would probably do a better job.

She wanted a bloody job that she wasn’t qualified to do! An exceptionally difficult job at the best of times and now you want us to feel sympathy for her when taxes are set to rise AGAIN. Honest to god I’d rather cry for my poor kids who are going to be saddled with this debt till the end of time. Trillions of pounds owed and a population who is too mentally ill ti work. Wonderful.

BeakyFlinders · 02/07/2025 14:44

Haven’t RTFT but the Independent, Fail and most of the major papers are leading their online pages with the story and pictures of her crying.

SunnySideDeepDown · 02/07/2025 14:45

People cry all the time at work. Politicians are humans too - Rachel as continually been bullied since being in office. I hate politics.

If you're privately educating a SEN child to avoid them being bullied at school, yes. Bullying ruins lives and can lead to suicide.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 02/07/2025 14:46

She’s still a human being.
