Name something unhygienic/disgusting but people do it

I start off:
. Holding money their mouths. It’s mainly an elderly person thing. Friends working in retail see this often. Even in mask wearing days, customers lowered masks to do this, yet denied it.
. Going to the toilet and not flushing
. Washing chicken out. People don’t realise that this can spray bacteria around. Cooking it properly will kill bacteria.
. Coughing without covering mouth. Even with Covid, people are still doing this.
. Not washing hands after using loo. In public toilets, I use hand sanitiser as seen people from certain cultures spit and mums letting their toddler DS to wee in the basins.
. On planes, people walking barefooted especially in toilets. With the quick turnaround of planes, the staff can’t clean everywhere

Chicken is washed with water and acid (citrus juice or vinegar) in the chicken bowl. The risk of contamination is no greater than raw chicken coming into contact with any other part of my kitchen.

My friends who work in retail - their managers will back them 100% if any customer demands to speak to a manager after my friends and their colleagues refuse to take their money as been in their mouths. As well as money, customers hold coupons, lottery tickets/slips, scratchcards and receipts (if wanting a refund/exchange) - in their mouths.

Asking - are these customers that do this at your work, elderly? They are the rude ones, not the staff.

I always find its middle age and upwards that are the rudest without a doubt. I’m a manager in a famous fast food chain, so employ lots of teenagers. They are amazingly rude to the youngsters and I always think how’d they’d react if that was their DC being abused at work.

They will always claim someone is rude, when the actual truth is they just don’t like the answer they’ve been given. Eg can I have this? No, sorry they’re out of stock. Oh my god how rude!!!

That's me off to hell then. My little dog won't sleep anywhere else and as I'm otherwise alone in bed, I'm happy to have him there.

I love this x

Not wearing shoes to go to the toilet on a plane!

If you have a single sink and you fill it with soapy water there is nowhere to tip left over drinks or run the rinsing water, hence using the bowl for the soapy water. Perhaps other countries are more likely to have a double sink?

Washing cutlery in the sink can scratch it
I rinse plates over the edge of the bowl then wash them in hot soapy water in the bowl, changing it as necessary. If plates are put straight in the sink you end up with a greasy” soup”

Yes. When I posted this 6 months back I was explaining why people used a washing up bowl in the UK (which others were saying was manky) as opposed to the double sinks they tend to have other places. So essentially saying the same as you.

No idea why someone would want to revisit this thread though (this is to the poster who first dug this back out). There are enough new threads where people are arguing the shoes on - shoes off, loo brushes and washing hands after the toilet. 🥱🥱

Mines random but in summer when there's lots of food on the table and people reach over you with their bare armpits when they are wearing dresses/vests 😂 I always have to pop my hand over my drink/plate

Ah, I see the "sex is disgusting" MN brigade is out early today.

Mouths are for food though 😁

Em no. I never have. Goodness knows how you'd do it in a public toilet.

Never rinsed dishes after they're washed - just dry them.

So you like dish water drying on your cups and plates?
