cumbriaisbest · 30/06/2025 17:48

I can't stand listenting to it any more.Tatbir, Gaza and so on. Unrelenting pain.
In addition.....
Where do I go when I die ( as a non believer?)
Where will my gay son go?

I say this as somebody who has worked in community projects and is passionately against racism.

Is it? OPs friend is muslim, not christian or jewish.
It's also not phobic to speak against any oppressive religion that conditions people women to think they're choosing it.

What's so oppressive about islam? Islam actually grants and gives women so so many rights.

I'm not Muslim. But I've spent a lot of time researching Islam and the other abrahamic faiths.

I don't see any here, thankfully.

Well, you're predictable at least. The veneer wore off pretty quickly, eh?

What exactly are you hoping to achieve from this thread, OP? A load of posters agreeing with your Islamophobia?

Islamophobia? Because she doesn’t like the personality of one Muslim person? Grow up.

Worralorra · 01/07/2025 09:15

I would say that anyone who has previously been a friend, but has suddenly become fixated on one topic of conversation, whether it’s religious, allied to followers of Just Stop Oil, Reform, or other semi-fanatical organisations, is showing you that their beliefs are overtaking their personality, and that you might want to distance yourself from it if it’s getting to you…
People change, and if you don’t like the change, for whatever reason, it’s OK to pull away.

Sortumn · 01/07/2025 09:20

Is it not possible to agree not to discuss these things?

As a teen, I had to do that with my born again Christian as she was convinced my Muslim friends were going to hell. Lots of religions believe that theirs is the only way and many people feel its their responsibility to try to 'save' the rest of us..

nomas · 01/07/2025 09:26

Morgenrot25 · 01/07/2025 09:00

Again, disliking an oppressive faith does not make one phobic.

Have you even read the thread and the misinformation and lies?

I've read the thread.
I'm not sure which 'misinformation' and 'lies' you're seeing though.

You're being ironic, right? Pretty much every religion oppresses women. 🫣

What on earth is wrong with you? Where is the phobia? I have no phobia of Muslims or the Muslim faith.
I am struggling with a situation.

Some posters seem determined to shout 'islamophobia' at every opportunity - it's pointless and does nothing to help oppressed women.

I'm really really surprised you didn't recognise the issues then.
Books written by men, telling women how to behave. 🫣

Oh no a man wrote it. Let's forget that one of the man's wife deep knowledge of the books teachings and interpretations.

It also has rules on how men should behave.

Another one who hasn’t read the thread.

I’ve read the thread. She is fed up of having to having religious and/or political conversations with a Muslim friend. So the issue is with how tiresome her friend is and the fact she’s Muslim provided context because it was relevant to the specific annoying conversations she found herself having.

Not everything is a hate crime 😳

Funny how religion and sexuality are protected characteristics, yet Muslims are getting slated in support for homosexuality and God knows what else. The fact is a lot of you here just can't treat people with respect from the heart. We on the other hand are busy minding our own business and not harassing people who happen to be a tad bit different. Sick to death of this topic of bashing Muslims. Countless thread of bashing islam and muslims when it literally does not affect you. And if you can't handle a bit of conversation then you need to grow the fuck up

What do you mean "support for homosexuality and god knows what else"

Zanina · 01/07/2025 21:55

Am I now? You're not blind look around, muslims aren't bothering homosexuals and we aren't taught to either. Muslims are always getting bashed about all sorts. Halal food, belief, rules etc etc. When we just go about our day as everyone. Just fuck off with your opinions. Mind your own business. You need to take a closer look at yourselves, people like you think you're better and above anyone who isn't the same as you.
