I can't stand listenting to it any more.Tatbir, Gaza and so on. Unrelenting pain.
In addition.....
Where do I go when I die ( as a non believer?)
Where will my gay son go?

I say this as somebody who has worked in community projects and is passionately against racism.

Surely as a non-believer you won't 'go anywhere' when you die - you'll just be dead.

Believers won't necessarily go anywhere either, they just think they will. 😬

InterestedDad37 · 01/07/2025 07:52

Tatbir is just nuts, and you have every right to point this out - you don't have to tiptoe around someone else's delusions.
I worked with many Muslim people over the years, and if asked, I would always say that I was an an atheist and strongly believed there is not such thing as a god, creator, afterlife etc. What they made of that was up to them 😀

Why are you so bothered about what islam supposedly says about gay people and what ever else you have a problem with? Mind your own business and get on with your life

Any abhorrent cult/religion that hates gay people and wants them dead seriously needs challenging!

Gallowayan · 01/07/2025 07:56

ButteredRadish · 30/06/2025 18:02

What exactly are you hoping to achieve from this thread, OP? A load of posters agreeing with your Islamophobia?

You are talking nonsense.

Why do you care what her answer is? If you don’t share her beliefs then you can worry about or be happy about whatever afterlife you want to believe in. Or none.

But can she be happy with her friend?

Chucklecheeks01 · 01/07/2025 08:02

THE OP IS THE ONE ASKING HER FRIEND!

Her friend is not pushing hr beliefs on to the OP, she is simply answering a question the OP asked.

The OP is getting an answer she doesn't like/want, where in this is her friend pushing her beliefs on her?

Clychaugog · 01/07/2025 08:02

Pretty sure the bible / torah says 'man shall not lie with a another man as he does a woman' which is widely interpreted to be homophobic

You avoiding all christians and jews too?

Most religions are problematic. To single out Islam is islamohobic.

As far as I am aware the New Testament does not call for the deaths of gay people.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

AlternativeView · 01/07/2025 08:19

Can I ask why it's racist not to like religions?

Would you say this if you had a catholic friend? Ie I'm agaisnt racism

It's all old testament stuff... Levicticus, full of vengeful smiting. There was a re-brand amd change of thinking with the new testament but I do remember getting quoted the old testament in assemblies when we were little. Get the feeling there's a lot of 'picking and choosing when it suits' that goes on.

The same Old Testament says
"You shall not wear clothing of wool and linen woven together."

Most christians have abandoned that rubbish.

Yep... and progressive muslims don't pay any attention to the bits in the Qur'an that haven't stood the test of time

Tbf, I've re read your original post and the way it is written looks like you're having a pop at Islam.

I don't doubt that you're a lovely person IRL :)

It doesn't. But homosexual acts are still a sin in Christianity.

In Islam as well just being gay isn't sinful. It's acting on it.

You're probably best off asking a progressive muslim for a qualified answer 😘

Something about a new covenant superseding OT law. Not just picking and choosing.

Is it? OPs friend is muslim, not christian or jewish.
It's also not phobic to speak against any oppressive religion that conditions people women to think they're choosing it.

Again, disliking an oppressive faith does not make one phobic.
