I can't stand listenting to it any more.Tatbir, Gaza and so on. Unrelenting pain.
In addition.....
Where do I go when I die ( as a non believer?)
Where will my gay son go?

I say this as somebody who has worked in community projects and is passionately against racism.

What exactly are you hoping to achieve from this thread, OP? A load of posters agreeing with your Islamophobia?

Why is not wanting to hear someone banging on about a misinformed opinion and thinking your child is internally damned Islamaphobic?

YANBU OP. I have distanced myself from a Muslim friend of over 10 years. It’s a shame but I got bored of the lectures and “education”. Sometimes you just want to talk about general shite you know? I don’t want to talk about Gaza, culture, racism etc constantly.

Gaza is so dull isn’t it. A real snooze fest. It’s just the same relentless killing every day. So dull

You haven’t read the OPs updates in which she acknowledges that the questions about the afterlife are ones she is pondering inside her own head, not ones that the friend has actually posed.

Not agreeing with islam isn't 'islamophobia'. 🫣

The Christians I know aren't homophobic. I have a relative who is a vicar and is not in the least homophobic. He's kind.

Xcfsacs · 30/06/2025 22:28

Would you consider it homophobic if someone believed that engaging in same sex sexual relations was a sin?

I'm not sure, if it was a private view then possibly no, and it wouldn't be my business.

But if they preached it and stated that gay people would go to eternal damnation, even if I did not believe such a place existed, I would consider that homophobic, yes, and cruel.

How do you know it's a "goad thread"
Easy enough to find an outlet for any goading or prejudice elsewhere if I look.

I’m not sure what Gaza has to do with it exactly? but I’mo it’s pretty sad what’s going on there. I won’t go into it but a lot (AHELLOFALOT) of people have suffered a lot :(

Cluborange666 · 30/06/2025 23:21

This isn’t exclusively a Muslim thing. The fundamentalist Christians are just as bad. Those kind of people are bores.

FrodisCapering · 30/06/2025 23:24

OneCosyCrow · 30/06/2025 20:06

I find most people are intolerant of other peoples religion except their own. People take great offence if you don’t share their views.

And that's fine.
Absolutely no religion or worldview is automatically deserving of respect.
If you have a particular faith, or lack of faith, you're perfectly within your rights to say you reject all others out of hand.

I can’t stand it happening so understand why people focus on it, but also understand why you need a break from the atrocity, I’m not sure I understand the bit about “where will your gay son go when he dies” that’s up to his and your beliefs , I think nowhere because I don’t believe in god, some conservative christians will say hell but obviously that’s insurance and homophobic - but I don’t really get that part of your question ?

They probably think the same about Muslims.

What is Islamaphobia in this context?

The OP said her friend was talking about her gay son. The teachings are very clear in this regard.
I think it's a load of fucking shit. Is that Islamaphobia? If it is, I'll take that and raise you blatant homophobia.

"Where do I go when I die ( as a non believer?)"

The same place the bible says Muahhahahahaha!!! 👹

Zanina · 01/07/2025 00:03

But op has said they are the one who asks / wonders for answers. The friend hasn't actually said anything offensive.

Starting to think the OP is projecting about their own child

Not necessarily.
OPs friend appears not to understand that her religion is a personal thing.

YABVVU for proclaiming Cumbria is best when everywhere else in the country seems to be having lovely hot weather (admittedly too hot and we have had advantages of it being cooler) and for the next week my weather app shows nothing but rain!

God, how horrible you are, really.

I give up.

Take no notice. Some people love to guilt trip you about privilege, especially the white kind. It gives them a sense of self-importance.

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 01/07/2025 07:18

Perfectly fine to avoid someone who tries to force their religion on you, regardless of what that religion is.
