Yes! They're a completely different makeup of material that only crocs are allowed to use.

Crocs have invented their own rubber/plastic?
/not quite sure?

Thedevilwearsprimarni · 30/06/2025 07:41

If it wasn’t for the fact most of them don’t have a pocket I’d wear leggings every day too and I look fucking terrible in them but sooo comfy

NegroniMacaroni · 30/06/2025 08:01

Wait till you try socks with sandals.

I worked in the lighting department of BHS during the hot summer of 1976 and we weren't allowed to have bare legs.

Reminds me my sister had a Saturday job at BHS in the 80,s her first uniform was awful ,nylon with a bow.at the neck
They did change it but it was a pinstripe dress she looked like she was. 18 going on 40.

I seem to have developed a compulsion to start sentences with "Well, when I was young..." or "I remember when..." with a critical tone and a slight pursing of the lips. I haven't said "the world's gone mad" out loud yet. But it won't be long.

Me too!!! I’ve started saying when we were kids we went to the corner shop with a £1 and got a can of drink a packet of crisps and a chocolate bar 😂

Crocs use a formula called Croslite, which is their proprietary foam, they also have better arch support.

Not to mention Crocs, the brand, don't just make slip on holey loafer type shoes. They do so many different styles of shoe. Each one is a bit different. I've got some mega crush sandals, they're very firm and rubbery, and have been a lifesaver for my cuboid bone subluxation and peroneal tendinitis. Off brand crocs that I've bought for using in the house are too soft, no arch support, not great for wide feet, and have caused me pain from a single days use.

I have some cheap crocs from shoe zone (bought for camping). They are not particularly comfy and make my feet smell. Are proper crocs that different?

they absolutely are different!! No comparison whatsoever.

You must be young, I'd have got that for half a crown

all of this. Don't waste your money on the knock offs. if you are wanting to use them because of plantar fasciitis, they need to be REAL crocs, the original fugly design and the unlined ones. If you can afford it go for literides. If you have got wide feet (mine are practically square) then get the most relaxed fit.

TheignT · 30/06/2025 11:42

Well I've blown my mind looking at the crocs site. To be fair I didn't get much sleep so maybe I need to look at it when my brain is fully functioning but there is sooooo much choice. So do I just stay with kuddly sliders or give crocs a try? I've wished kuddly would do a version with a strap round the back. Oh the tough decisions I have to wrestle with.

AngryBird6122 · 30/06/2025 12:22

@Thedevilwearsprimarni there are some nice ones on amazon that have pockets, pretty good price too

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 30/06/2025 12:57

Adding to the folk saying crocs are now trendy, plus wearing socks with sandals. For youngsters anyway!

I am 63 and dress for comfort.
This morning I was wearing a loose dress, no bra wand a large pair of fluorescent orange cycle shorts (baby leggings) underneath, crocs on feet. Lovely and comfy.
However.whilst pegging out the washing , a wasp/bee went up the back of my dress and started stinging away. Horrendous. Cue lots of screaming, dress yanked off and me left standing in garden in a pair of bright orange cycle shorts and nothing else. Husband comes out and looks horrified. Thank god all neighbours are at work. I hope.

I wore lagging’s and baggy tops for about 3 years because I was so fat( size 22 ) . My doctor put me on mounjaro last November for type 2 diabetes. By April I had lost nearly 3 stone so all my winter stuff went in the bin and I started replenishing my summer wardrobe. I have no intention of wearing leggings ever again , but will have to buy a new winter wardrobe by October. I’m 72 and for the first time for several years I am enjoying clothes .

Laggings is a much better name for them !!

😁

Actually I look worse than that!
I was in my 40's and my dad said my legs looked like 2 strings with knots in 😁

In my leggings and short nightie , Sans brassiere, watching Rodney at Glasto😁. I can't remember it even happening , it just crept up on me and suddenly here we are! .
DH is sleeping on the sofa and he is the one who wants to see Rodney ! 🤣

Edited

But he's not a Rodney! He's a Roderick!

Melancholyflower · 29/06/2025 15:57

Crocs are cool though.
Leggings are ok if they are the Sweaty Betty/Lululemon exercise type, but not if they're the stretchy jersey type worn with tunics, or even worse instead of tights with dresses.

Lululemon! Primark it is love, and I'm not ashamed. No one needs £100 leggings.

Menobaby79 · 01/07/2025 00:33

Haha! I've been all about dressing for comfort since I was about 37. I'm nearly 46 now and have no intention of changing it. I don't a crap what people think now on the school run etc. Crocs and leggings for the win. 😂
If its a special occasion, like a meal out or something, then of course I'll make a decent effort. My sister on the other hand 3 years younger than me, wouldn't wear most of my wardrobe as its not cool enough for her.
For work I always have to wear a suit though so I guess a bit of that is letting it all hang out on my days off.
I did buy some Fly boots recently though and they are so nice and go with everything, so I've started to wear them a lot more.
