One day....one day your feet will be hot and swollen, you'll struggle to stand up for long, then the siren call of Hotter will beckon you forth.....

Hotter are not wide enough for me. I am mainlining on Cosyfeet. Hikers for the winter, trainers for the summer. Its bliss to finally wear wide enough shoes.

I need Cosyfeet to accommodate my orthotics. Granny shoes all the way...(I've been advised that lace-ups are best for my feet.)

I tart mine up with different laces.

I don’t, I heard a man say once, women only wear them to show of their vaginas 😆
in the same convo the other male replied, it’s usually fat women that wear them 🤨

I'm trying to figure this out. Is it something to do with shiny shoes? [/baffled]

My friend started out like this and by then end of the year she was totally dependant. Now she needs to wear 3 or even 4 pairs a day to get the same hit.

😂😂😂

Helpmechooseausername · 29/06/2025 20:05

I live in crocs at home. What else are you supposed to wear? Bare feet / socks only / slippers make my feet ache so much! Crocs really support my feet and are so comfy. Hate them with no socks though so always wear them with little socks. And never in sports mode 🤣

Middlemarch123 · 29/06/2025 20:07

I love my crocs, 12 years old and still as good as new. So comfy.
My DD is a doctor and they all wear them on shift because they support and are comfy.
I wear leggings in the winter. Don’t give a toss what people think. One of the joys of being older!

Pistachiocake · 29/06/2025 20:39

Nothing wrong now-they have pockets and are better made these days-I agree thin 90s leggings should stay in the past!. But decent leggings and trainers are ok for work (or most things) these days. If you look at pictures from the 60s/70s people wore suits of whatever all the time, yet few of us would dress very formally even at the office now. And guessing that a lot of people on here are running around after little kids-isn't it better to have leggings and trainers at the park, than a skirt, tights and heels, as our grans might have felt forced to wear?

how old are you thinking your gran was/is?

Petitchat · 29/06/2025 20:52

I always remember the day I first went out without tights.

It was that scorching summer of '76 and the bare legged feeling was absolute bliss.

Oh...

HowAmITheCatsGranny · 29/06/2025 20:55

Even in the late nineties (maybe into early noughties) my work dress code was either tights or tanned legs with heeled court shoes when wearing a skirt. My dm (born in the 50’s) definitely considered bare legs to be unprofessional.

Oojama · 29/06/2025 21:05

I’m almost three months postpartum, with three under four. So I’ve lived in my leggings for the past 4 years and 9 months. They are unbelievably comfortable and practical, but as soon as I’m back in my jeans and the baby has stopped vomiting everywhere I’m probably going to have to burn them all.

And Crocs, eek. I know I shouldn’t. But I started wearing them at work (NHS) - bliss! Then got a pair for the garden, and occasionally popped to the shop in them. Before you know it - leggings and Crocs had happened to me. Take the as a cautionary tale! 😂

Jabberwok · 29/06/2025 15:29

Shorts and long socks are my biggest fear as a man in his 50s...but it's coming

Watch Ice Cold in Alex, and just channel John Mills rocking the look in shorts and long socks. Definitely NOT Anthony Quayle, looking repulsive in very short shorts and rolled over ankle-socks, oh dearie me.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/06/2025 21:24

If anyone ever sees me in crocs or uggs they will know I've totally given up on life.
Also a flowery dress with a short denim jacket and white trainers. Yuck.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/06/2025 21:32

I'll admit to having two pairs of Hotter shoes. A pair of trainers for work in the NHS so comfy and a pair of a animal print walking sandals which do look quite trendy under trousers, mainly because I wear 5.5 E fitting which most shoes don't come in. I like a perfect fit. And I am 63.
I don't tend to wear "old" clothes and shoes. I love fashion.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/06/2025 21:32

And my feet hurt.

Congrats on your three under four.
Phew!! Hard work...

I'm 71 and I've never worn leggings or crocs, is it too late? Have I missed the boat? I do wear pyjamas.

A man I used to work with called leggings fat girl's uniform. He was fat, apparently he's even fatter now.

Never too late...

But be careful with the crocs, my DH's feet have slipped out once or twice!

Unless he's not wearing them properly?

I wear kuddly sliders. They are brilliant for my arthritic hips, I know that sounds odd but they sort of cushion your feet and I assume they stop the shock waves on my hips. I wonder if crocs would be as good, I like the idea of them having the strap round the back.

SanFranBear · 29/06/2025 21:48

Two words (or is it three???):
Crocs Flip-Flops.. oh my goodness, best things ever for the summer and so kind to your feet! I adore flip-flops but most have very thin soles which are not good for any feet issues... these babies last forever and are just so comfy!

I've also got a small leggings collection but only wear them hiking, which I do a fair bit of - you can strike out through any foliage, brambles, overgrowth l, undergrowth - bloody amazing and make stiles so easy - and sooo comfortable! Big fan...!
