Been wearing Crocs for years. Scoffed when I heard people were wearing Crocs with socks makes sense- stop your feet sweating. Haven't done it in public though🤣

I used to swear BLIND that I'd never be caught dead in either Birkenstocks or Crocs

Now I own multiple pairs of both 😭😭😭

So far have not worn Crocs outside - they're strictly gardening/patio shoes only

For now.

😭

Arrrgh and now I've quoted the OP. Sorry. 🤦‍♀️

Aren't we supposed to quote the OP?
Is it Mumsnet etiquette or something?
🤔 😊

LancashireButterPie · 29/06/2025 18:45

Not really a leggings fan, however I recently bought some of those halara stretchy pants with wide legs after a recommendation on here and OMG they are heavenly to wear.

I am that person
I'm sat here in my legging s and crocs🙈

Me too - and proud of it!!!

although my leggings are actually cycle shorts today 🤪

We can quote the original poster, but not the original post (apparently). I think that it's because it's seen as taking up unnecessary space in the thread.

I only became aware of it after seeing other folk being told off by other Mumsnetters. I've accidentally quoted a few times myself - hit 'quote' instead of 'reply'.

itsgettingweird · 29/06/2025 18:49

Working a school so we aren’t allowed sandals or open toes. We are allowed to wear crocs with the back on.

Hence why I have several fake pairs in various colours.

I wear them with a dress in summer although I have trainers in my classroom should I need them!

I live in my Llama Leisure leggings, and wear them for everyday and for horse riding, they are so comfortable! Never crocs though, I have wonky toes that would stick out of the holes. 😁
The absolute best ad that ever appeared on Facebook, which lured me in to the wonderful abstracts and patterns that are Llama.

Wrong thread ladies. Sorry 😐

Crocs are cool though.
Leggings are ok if they are the Sweaty Betty/Lululemon exercise type, but not if they're the stretchy jersey type worn with tunics, or even worse instead of tights with dresses.

Omg I went OUT yesterday evening in a short skirt with leggings underneath. Just thought I'm not exposing my white skinny legs to ridicule. Not even fake tan works on them

susanandlucypevensie · 29/06/2025 15:55

Those little holes in crocs are where your dignity leaks out

Too fucking true🤣🤣🤣

BeverleyMackermyarse · 29/06/2025 19:07

Embrace the Crocs. I used to think they were ugly but now I own several pairs. Even worse they're not even proper Crocs, just cheap knock off's. I've started wearing them in public now. DGAF!

wishIwasonholiday10 · 29/06/2025 19:11

This is me too. I’ve barely worn anything except leggings for the last 5 years (since I turned 40 or so) although I do wear some legging style trousers at work which are not quite leggings. So far my crocs are only for the garden but I am quite fond of teva type walking sandals.

As a 67 year old, size 22 grandma, if you had come round to ours earlier in the week you would have found me in my yellow and black striped bumblebee Temu leggings, green crocs and a baggy t-shirt. Not a look to celebrate, but perfect for dragging stuff out of the shed and getting covered in dust, muck and cobwebs (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it!) I'm not going to traumatise everyone by posting a picture.

Please do! The leggings sound brilliant 😊

I lost my dignity a long time ago …..surely there’s no more to lose….. but I’m only 39 so yes on second thought there perhaps is 🤣

Looks at self wearing gym leggings and a t-shirt 😂No crocs, but socks over the top (no apologies.. gen Z were right about that one!)

godmum56 · 29/06/2025 17:12

Crocs healed my chronic plantar fasciitis. You will prise them from my cold dead hands.

Me too. I was always barefoot at home, but now I literally step into my Crocs when I get out of bed and no more pain.

RampantIvy · 29/06/2025 19:32

Where are the leggings and sock wearers? It's been 25 degrees where I am today and I am in a linen dress and underwear only.

Asunciondeflata · 29/06/2025 19:33

Barney16 · 29/06/2025 17:51

My mother wears Hotter shoes. She buys them from the garden.centre. My daughter has strict instructions to wrestle any, I ever, in the future, express a preference for, from my weak and aged hands.

One day....one day your feet will be hot and swollen, you'll struggle to stand up for long, then the siren call of Hotter will beckon you forth.....

HowAmITheCatsGranny · 29/06/2025 19:34

Sock wearer here 👋 in northeast Scotland.. it hit a balmy 20° here today lol but I’m not a fan of bare feet anyway

tsmainsqueeze · 29/06/2025 19:35

x2boys · 29/06/2025 15:58

But they are so bloody comfy .

I have the joy of wearing crocs to work everyday and i love it !
Also i have worn leggings around the house since lockdown , i am reliving the 80's ! i confess to wearing them to a garden centre today too and i don't really give a shit !

SmudgeButt · 29/06/2025 19:36

I used to wear leggings when I did a lot of walking. We used to go hut to hut in the alps every summer. Now I only have bike shorts and that's so that my fat thighs don't clap when I'm wearing a dress (very rare occurence)

Crocs. No never. Can't abide rubber footwear of any sort. I am however addicted to Birkenstocks. But that's been the last 30 years of my life.
