Do you wear sun screen daily? If so, what do you use?

That's it really.

I'm pretty pale and generally avoid the negative impact of the sun by avoiding the sun. I wear sun cream if its very hot and I'm going to be outside but I generally just avoid it by staying in.

But talking to colleagues recently, many say they wear sun screen daily. And I've seen similar said on here.

I tend to use dry feel factor 50+ children's sunspray for sensitive skin. I can't abide the feeling of suncream on my skin but can tolerate this

I use it on my face too but I find just having it on skin makes me sweat more and I just feel like I'm overheating with slimy sunscreen sliding off. Lovely.

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Thanks.

I've been using La Roche Posay Anthelios for about 12 years now, its expensive but I only go through about 3 per year so actually lasts longer than you'd think.
I used to work outdoors and it was the only thing that would stop me burning (and developing sun related aging on my face) and I really recommend it.

Wolmando · 29/06/2025 13:30

But are you actually going outside or putting on to sit in the house and maybe go out to the bins or put washing out, I wouldn't bother if not actually going outside for above that sort of time.

Helpmefindmysoul · 29/06/2025 13:31

I saw a dermatologist who recommended some; can’t remember them but she said Boots Soltan range was very good. Since then that’s the one I use although on my face I use the Eucerin anti pigment spf50.

Well no I wouldn't for that. But going to work etc. I probably spend about half an hour a day outside as part of my job. But have to go to and from work

Maybe I don't need it? But (younger) colleagues who do the same job claim to wear it daily. I just wondered really what other people use or how much time they spend outside.

Thanks. I'll take a look at this.

I wear Paula’s Choice spf 50. Works great under makeup. I generally avoid the sun

DueyCheatemAndHow · 29/06/2025 13:38

I wear an SPF 50 from Beauty Pie which works well as a make up primer too

LuckyNumberFive · 29/06/2025 13:38

I used the Garnier vitamin C brightening serum cream. It's SPF 25.

Alucard55 · 29/06/2025 13:45

Altruist is good and inexpensive.

SundayFundayz · 29/06/2025 13:47

I wear this under my make up every day, it’s really light

strawberrywhining · 29/06/2025 13:48

I really like Altruist.

leopardprint17 · 29/06/2025 13:49

Garnier glow spf50

Hazelmond · 29/06/2025 13:50

Altruist. I have a mega 1 litre bottle on the side and am finally using sunscreen as much as I’m supposed to! Unlike the vast majority of sunscreens I’ve used (including those recommended at great expense by a dermatologist in my acne years) it doesn’t clog my pores. https://altruistsun.com/products/altruist-sunscreen-spf50-1-litre-bottle

Another fan of altruist- reasonably priced and you only need a little.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 29/06/2025 13:51

I like altruist or goop or ultra violette. Usually get at least one in my beauty advent calendar (two last year) which is a good opportunity to try new brands as formulations are developing and improving all the time. It’s not like putting regular soltan on your face.

OrangeBlossom28 · 29/06/2025 13:52

Biore watery essence (SPF50) for the face and Altruist (also buy the 1 litre pump bottles) for the body. DH has had a BCC on his forehead and MOHS surgery to remove it so he has to be extra careful.

SheilaFentiman · 29/06/2025 13:53

The Nivea face moisturiser with spf 50. But mostly I wear a hat.

NoSoupForU · 29/06/2025 13:55

I use Trinny London BFF cream on my face. If I'm wearing a tinted moisturiser or something on top it acts as a primer too.

GreyCarpet · 29/06/2025 13:57

These are great suggestions! Thanks. I'm checking them all out.

Are they intended to be used as or in addition to moisturiser?

Clearly, I have no idea! 😁

The beauty pie one is over moisturiser. I like it because it's really light, you don't feel you're using anything

Boots Soltan is great.. Very moisturising

Titasaducksarse · 29/06/2025 14:18

Vichy capital soleil factor 50 for face

PickleSarnie · 29/06/2025 14:22

Skingredients is brilliant. Spendy but it lasts for ages. Has a bit of tint so I use it instead of make up. Probably a bit pale for anyone with olive skin or darker though.
