Do you wear sun screen daily? If so, what do you use?

That's it really.

I'm pretty pale and generally avoid the negative impact of the sun by avoiding the sun. I wear sun cream if its very hot and I'm going to be outside but I generally just avoid it by staying in.

But talking to colleagues recently, many say they wear sun screen daily. And I've seen similar said on here.

I tend to use dry feel factor 50+ children's sunspray for sensitive skin. I can't abide the feeling of suncream on my skin but can tolerate this

I use it on my face too but I find just having it on skin makes me sweat more and I just feel like I'm overheating with slimy sunscreen sliding off. Lovely.

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Thanks.

I wear sunscreen. Currently using Nivea kids for body and various SPF 50 on face. I like the Biore watery one someone mentioned above (I get the Japanese one). However I think the best way to avoid sun is Hats, long sleeved light shirts and floaty skirts or trousers because I am sure I miss bits with the creams. Oh and Sunglasses. And the best thing is you look stylish.

N07 factor 50 I use it every day. Someone on here said their dermatologist recommended it.

I have worn Elizabeth Arden city screen for years and it even stood the test of a summer in New Zealand where my ankles burnt really badly but my face never burnt once. It’s a bit pricey I suppose but last ages.

TizerorFizz · 29/06/2025 16:24

Biore for me too.

I really liked Altruist, I wear spf50 on my face every day of the year. I thought I had an issue with my eyes as they were stinging every evening and then one day forgot the Altruist and realised that was the issue. Just a warning before you buy the 1 litre bottle!

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 29/06/2025 16:40

I’ve used Grüüm factor 50 daily defence lotion everyday for a few years. But, I give it a break in the depths of winter because my face is the only thing exposed to the little sunlight I get (out before sunrise home before dark)

Falingoth · 29/06/2025 16:49

I've been using Skin+Me for years because I am prone to spots on my jaw/chin area.
They've just released a daily moisturiser+SPF 50 which I'm trying out. It does make my forehead look a bit greasy but I'm yet to find a decent facial suncream that doesn't to be honest. If it's not suncream making me look greasy, it's the heat.

Through the day if it's sunny I'll reapply but I don't bother if it's cooler/overcast.
For reapplying I like the Nivea Shine Control face cream (SBF50) or I just dig out an old Skin+Me suncream.

I'm also yet to find any suncream that doesn't irritate eyes. You're not supposed to apply it around eyes anyway.

Beauty of Joseon on my face, neck and back of hands of everyday, that and LRP are the only ones that don’t sting my eyes.

Same. And Bondi Sands sensitive I could tolerate too.

I'm up for trying altruist though. Anyone had issues with it stinging eyes?

Ah thank you! Yes I have real issues with eye sting. I have found Beauty of Joseon and La Roche Posay are ok though. But BoJ is cheaper.

WhereAreWeNow · 29/06/2025 16:56

Yep. Except in the darkest days of winter.
I wear Vichy (a matt one for the face) or the L'Oréal bright reveal factor 50. Both are very good and not slimy.

Limeandsober · 29/06/2025 17:02

I use Bondai Sands Face factor 50 + on ‘makeup’ days as it doesn’t pill.

They do a tinted version but I don’t like that one as the tint gets in my neck creases and makes me look grubby 😐I get mine in Tesco when it’s on clubcard special.

non makeup days it’s Nivea factor 50. I wear a factor 50 every day as I use retinol.

HippyKayYay · 29/06/2025 17:05

Ive yet to find an effective one that doesn’t leave me shiny sticky or make my face sweat:
La Roche Posey - feels sticky
Altruist - feels sticky
Nivea Shine free - sticky and makes my face sweat
Biore - feels great on, but not very effective (I doubt it’s actually spf 50)

The search continues (expensively)

Falingoth · 29/06/2025 17:15

@HippyKayYay I don't think it exists either. I use the Nivea one because it's cheap. At least I know I'm protected without paying a ridiculous price.

I also find it difficult to find a nice moisturiser with SPF included. I have to use a lightweight oil-free moisturiser or I break out in spots.

I think it's better to have an SPF separately but then I'll be lazy and not apply it unless the sun's out.

MuchTooTired · 29/06/2025 17:23

I use La Roche Posay anthelio uvmune oil control invisible fluid. Pop it on over my moisturiser, it gives a matt finish and is good for my combination skin and doesn’t clog my pores. I used to rely on my moisturiser to provide the sunscreen too, but prefer applying a dedicated sunscreen now.

ShinyHappyTits · 29/06/2025 17:24

I have tried all of these apart from the very spendy ones and the best I have found is biore watery essence. No cast, no sliminess or stickiness and delightfully moisturizing. However this has recently been usurped by the camellia and mugwort sunstick by Beauty of Joseon. It's totally matt and is a fantastic primer. I also use it over makeup as a touch up and it doesn't seem to disturb it. Highly recommend (Amazon)

Try the one I just recommended by Beauty of Joseon, it's fantastic! I agree about how sticky all the other ones feel.

Cherry8809 · 29/06/2025 17:43

I alternate between various Korean sunscreens. Currently Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit, Round Lab Birch Juice and Mixsoon Centella. All are SPF50.

AliceMcK · 29/06/2025 17:57

Pale skin here. I always use spf on my face via my daily moisturiser, L’Oreal Revitalift factor 50+ is my very sunny day cream and daily chest/cleavage cream. I also use Malibu 50+ scalp spray for my head as I have fine hair. If I’m showing skin (I try to avoid) I now use the Lacura Kids factor 50+

I do prefer to avoid the sun but will still wear sunscreen especially on my face at all times.

Maybe try letting the products air dry for longer. At 50yo I’ve finally learnt that I need to let any and all products air dry for a decent length of time for them to feel good.
