Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

Such snobbery - music is just entertainment, let people be entertained!

Can't stand people who are snooty about music

Loved Gary Numan and seeing his daughters perform. Really enjoyed Wet Leg. Raye and Self Esteem aren't my thing. Wasn't sure about Amyl. Peter Capaldi with FF was cool. Gutted that Blossoms dont seem to be on the replay list.

We tuned into BBC 4 to watch Amyl and Beth Gibbons. Amyl were great. Beth was boring

Inbetween were the Nova Twins. Guitar based rock from two young black women. Loved them. Not heard of them before but super catchy tunes just made for video games.

the80sweregreat · 29/06/2025 17:39

I loved it all apart from Lulu , but she wasn’t that bad in the end. I have a soft spot for Rod though.

bigfatdoormat · 29/06/2025 17:41

Rod was the absolute best. He's got all the songs could have done so many more.
Sid anyone think that proud mary segment was a tribute to Tina Turner?
Was thinking that generation were quite something Bowie Beatles Stones Elton Beach Boys Bolam Springfield

the80sweregreat · 29/06/2025 17:44

Rod pulled out all the stops and the suits! Fair play to him. All the older musicians and singers have been great.

WillowTit · 29/06/2025 18:26

loved rod saying he was going to change his shirt and have a cup of tea Grin

Spooky2000 · 29/06/2025 18:29

Honest to God, for some of the acts I've heard better karaoke in the local.

NeartoNewquay · 29/06/2025 18:33

@Spooky2000 - just said this to DH - certainly our local pub singer could sing them under the table.

scoobysnaxx · 29/06/2025 18:49

Chic are amazing.

Nile has written some of the best songs ever!

fussychica · 29/06/2025 18:57

Just enjoyed Snow Patrol. Great voice and pure sound.

Just been watching Rod and can't really agree. His band, the dancers, the violinists, every device possible in play to conceal that it is really a bit too much for him. I was getting worried during the last bit where he was in the pink suit, he looked quite unwell and very breathless. He isn't really putting a lot of emotion into it, just singing the words (not always very well). If you look at the early songs with The Faces on Youtube the singing and delivery are quite expressive and emotive but the backing is a bit crap, it's the other way round now.

All the older acts tend to do that. Even Neil Young had some long guitar solos. I saw Frankie Valli a few years ago and he had some backing singers who did a lot of the work. At 80 Rod Stewart is pretty fit. He apparently runs every day as well as the gym. I think we should make allowances. I would rather he was there than not.

It was always a hallmark of a Neil Young set that at some point the band would get into a middle eight hundred and forty four + solo long enough that a punter could go off, skin up and wander back just in time for them to be about to go into the last 4 choruses, a return solo and an extended outro.

Difference for Rod is that he probably went and sat in front of a portable air cooler whilst changing his clothes instead of a quick toke.

Kneecap are very critical of the old IRA heads , calling them out for their hypocrisy in their film. From Kneecaps perspective the old generation of Republicans are holier than thou about drugs and many of them were / are informers for the Brits - or ' touts' in the local argot.

Of course not all Irish yoof agree with Mo Chara et al. Some of them are out burning down refugee hostels and other such wholesome activities which might find more favour with the Daily Mail readership.

But it's weird how they call others out on their hypocrisy and don't realize they're the most hypocritical of all. I can't with stupid people anymore! But then the Kneecap thugs are all on drugs and so are their fans, so that further tampers the critical thinking skills.

I hope they identify all those chanting his hate in the crowd too!

They should do facial recognition and ID every single person who chanted support for this KKK act. And how stupid are they ....half of them are LGBTQ, so they're basically chanting for their own head-removal. Someone please finally give these people the memo that in Gaza there are 3 Glasto-centric things that are punishable by death in Gaza: being gay, exposed shoulders on women, and tattoos. That just took care of everyone in the audience. The level of chickens for KFC here, is almost comical if it weren't so frightening.

I'd say the Proud Mary bit was a nod to it's writer , John Fogerty of Credence Clearwater. He is Stewart's contemporary and is on the Glastonbury bill too afaik.

Abhannmor · 29/06/2025 19:39

The only thing punishable by death in Gaza is queueing up for some rice or milk powder.

Crikeyalmighty · 29/06/2025 20:22

You can’t go wrong with the cannon of songs Rod has at his fingertips - I do think this is one where it’s overall very enjoyable ( great production , good band and his girl singers are really good) and he’s a very amiable bloke - to some extent though as someone else said it’s got to be like this because vocally it’s a bit hit and Miss - he’s 80 though and to be frank few singers at that age do have their original range -he has some great tunes that everyone knows and that’s part of the appeal , like it was with Elton etc - Rod didn’t write all his best ones though - others did . Crazy Horse and Cat Stevens wrote 2 of his most known ones.

Cheersmedears123 · 29/06/2025 20:32

I love watching at home but have enjoyed it less this year. However I never judge Glastonbury by what I see on the TV, because if I was there I don’t expect I’d be anywhere near the 5 main stages.

suburburban · 29/06/2025 20:39

Enjoying Rod Stewart and guests and his Kermit look

scoobysnaxx · 29/06/2025 20:40

NOT the same!!!

TitsInAbsentia · 29/06/2025 20:44

I've just watched the 1975....why were people giving out so much shit about them? Was it because it just wasn't their bag? Thought it was a great set, sound could have been better on the telly but am sure it was great there, crowd loving it and Matty looked the most sober I think I've ever seen him although he was still drinking.
