To think Peter Andre and Emily are the strangest couple?

I went down a bit of rabbit hole the other day (triggered by a random Facebook article), checking out Peter Andre and his wife Emily’s social media.

I get that he’s pretty well off (although he only had one good song so I’m not sure how well off), but how the fuck does Emily put up with him? She is obviously very intelligent, as well as beautiful, and a lot younger than him…I guess the heart wants what the heart wants but honestly the man has the IQ of a walnut, and he is also intensely irritating. I can’t imagine them having deep and meaningful conversations because I don’t think he’s capable of that.

I know this is a mean thread but it just seems like a very peculiar mismatch. Watching a 30 second reel of him on insta makes me feel stabby, how on earth does she live with him?

The snippy posts about how it's none of our business/why does anyone care would be fair enough if the pair of them didn't promote and monetise their relationship for fame, money, social media attention. It's a product for them and as such, is fair game to comment on.

A lot of women also love to be seen as 'better' than another women - so for Emily, I imagine a big part of the attraction is people constantly saying how much better, classier, more attractive, more intelligent etc she is than KP, how she's such a step up for PA. I'm sure that level of smoke-blowing-up-arse-ing can paper over some of the agonies of living with PA.

I went out for brunch with PA and his brother with a group of mates in Cairns once. The conversation wasn’t exactly scintillating. (Perhaps his brother owned the place we had brunch? Was so long ago, I barely remember. Very early 2000’s)

If I was a celebrity and went out to lunch with a bunch of strangers they would get nothing from me by way of conversation. Nada. Anything else would be foolish as they would probably end up selling a story to the press or write it up in a thread like this one.

I can't imagine making a thread about the marriage of two people I've never met nor ever likely to 🙄

Can you imagine commenting on one?

oh wait……

But he really loves his kids....

Haha yeah of course he does

roseteapot · 23/06/2025 07:21

A few reasons - she was very young when she first met him and was probably impressed and bowled over by his fame, even if he is Z list. She always came across to me as a fairly insecure, serious, very shy girl (lovely though) so it makes sense she might have been attracted to someone who was confident, fun and flashy and a celeb. We are often attracted to those qualities we feel we are missing.

Regarding the doctor thing, I cant speak for Emily as I dont know her but I spent a decade of my life working with doctors and consultants and trust me, plenty of them are as dull as dishwater. Just because they have doctorates doesnt make them fabulously interesting to chat with.

If it was off camera how did you see it? Those two were very calculatedly always on camera. And I remember seeing the video extract from the show that everyone uses to show how awful he was to her. The full video tells a very different story where she is goading him and bullying. Really awful.

Ok, if you want to be pedantic, from the scenes that never made it to the show.

And no, you don’t know which video extract I’m referring to so you can’t say the full video tells a different story. He was 💯 the bully.

I don't have an opinion on PA as I've never spent much time listening to him, but I've found myself thinking similar about loads of couples over the years, both in and out of the public eye. Not just in terms of a mismatch in intelligence but often just because one of them is a rude, irritating dick or a spoilt whiney child, or a total high maintenance bitch, or they have no filter and all the social skills of a sledgehammer. I have no idea what they see in one another, or at least what one of them sees in the other when they could do so much better. But like you say, the heart wants what the heart wants and the rest of us don't need to understand it so long as it works for them.

I think most people who are coupled with someone who is pretty much universally disliked or regarded as 'hard work' in some way do know. They pick up on the negative vibes of others and spend their lives mitigating and doing damage limitation around friends and family, trying to smooth over all the feathers their giant knob of a partner has ruffled. Then again, some of them just seem completely oblivious to the fact they are saddled to a twat or a cowbag who annoys or upsets just about everybody. Or perhaps they just pretend not to notice because they are embarrassed but are stuck with them. I'm never quite sure.

GnomeDavid · 23/06/2025 07:37

@TwigletsAndRadishessome people enjoy that dynamic. Being the nice one. Having a partner who is a ‘live wire’ never sure what they’re going to do next. Some women are financially stuck. Some women believe they’ll change their partners (never seen a man believe this). Some men like the thrill of being with a ‘bitch ’. Lots of reasons really.

ExercicenformedeZ · 23/06/2025 07:47

YABU, as are all the people who say that Peter was oh-so-awful to poor Saint Katie.

theoriginalpinkpowerranger · 23/06/2025 07:52

I get the impression alot of it was orchestrated by his manager.

Roselilly36 · 23/06/2025 07:55

No one else’s business, why do people always try to poke their noses in to other peoples relationships. I really don’t understand it. Nasty and unnecessary.

Empress13 · 23/06/2025 03:02

Not to mention the 16 year age gap he was 36 her just 20 when they met. He’s appearing at a venue in a park near me soon. From stadiums to a park how the mighty have fallen!

And you sound as if you're loving that?
As my old grandad used to say "don't think bad of others, it will come back on yourself"

MoneyMoneyMoney25 · 22/06/2025 23:15

Well…I’ve never seen even a glimmer of intelligence coming from him on TV or his social media. So unless he’s hiding his brains really well, I think it’s safe to say he’s a bit dim.

As for a good husband, thankfully I can’t comment on that.

I thought he was a good guy until I saw the footage of him in a vehicle talking to KP. I'm not a huge fan of KP but the way he spoke to her was utterly chilling. I had to rewind it and listen again it was so fricken bad.

He's a deeply unpleasant person.

Motherearthisbusy · 23/06/2025 08:05

GnomeDavid · 22/06/2025 22:27

I completely get it. I think that every time I see them. I work with a lot of doctors and they are simply put, very very clever. None of them are in relationships with thick people, most are with other doctors. I said to one of them, how boring it must be to be constantly surrounded by people so much less intelligent than you? But I guess they get used to it.

I actually know a top psychiatrist and whilst she is very academically clever I wouldn’t say she particularly had an ounce of common sense. I suppose it depends what you class as ‘clever’.
Also the reason they usually end up with other doctors is because of the length of time they study to become doctors and inevitably they tend to be surrounded by them for long periods of their young adult lives.

All that said - I’ve met Emily and she’s actually a really nice unassuming girl. I don’t know anything about Peter, I just think he’s made a bit of money off his one hit, has a great appeal to a certain age range of women and just quietly lives his life. He’s not my cup of tea but I also don’t think he’s done anything particularly offensive either.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/06/2025 08:05

I have seen Peter Andre twice IRL, not deliberately, I hasten to add. Once was many years ago when I happened to be in Blackpool for a few days and he was appearing at some Radio One beach event, there he was, topless in the slightly chilly air beltiing out his one and only hit.

Lucky you!
I saw him once at a charity event where he was on the bill with some actually talented singers and comedians. This was back when he was taking himself very seriously as a serious artist 🙄 and because of that he refused to sing Mysterious Girl (which would have made it slightly bearable) as he'd "moved on" and instead made us endure listen to six or seven of the drossiest, most forgettable songs ever written. He introduced each one as "my next number one" but I'm not sure they ever even made top 50 🤦.

Richiewoo · 23/06/2025 08:26

Aren't you a judgemental person. Who knows what goes on in other people's relationships. You sound horrible.

EdithBond · 23/06/2025 08:39

Why do you think he has low IQ?

Intelligence isn’t the same as education or qualifications.

catin8oot5 · 22/06/2025 23:06

OMG is an absolute dodgepot. There was a very very funny thread about him maybe 10 years ago or so. I’m suprised it hasn’t been nuked.

I just checked it is still there. Just search ‘Peter Andre Creeps’

I’m not sure this isn’t t just take two of the same thing - probably inspired by it but designed to look “ curious.”

Isn’t this really just a Peter Andre pile-on thread in disguise op?

In answer to your question about their marriage, don’t know, don’t care but why make such intrusive, personal comments?

Yes and she would have meet alot of rich people at uni and being a doctor?

Yeah well the other explanation is she’s very stupid.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 23/06/2025 00:00

Yes, it's very odd that her DF was happy to see her become a couple with his patient.
There's quite an age gap too.
i always imagine discussing their favourite teen tunes which the younger partner has never heard.
They do seem respectful of each other and it's great they're protecting their DC unlike his ex wife KP

It's a bit odd her father became friends with his patient & was introducing him to his family to be honest at a dinner (?) - not been my experience of doctors at all so I think the whole family had a bit of a celebrity crush on him hence supporting it 🤢

OdeToRoy · 23/06/2025 18:23

Isn’t Davina McCall friends with her brain surgeon? Maybe it’s a celeb thing.

LeavesOnTrees · 23/06/2025 20:21

Who knows why she fell for him BUT at least they appear to be providing a secure home for the older two amd are keeping their younger ones out of the limelight.

Yeah. I’m inclined to think people should just be leaving them alone.

PopeJoan2 · 23/06/2025 21:12

Being able to navigate mundane everyday life is one of the most important parts of a relationship. They have children together and their lives are probably consumed by that on top of managing two demanding careers. And as for the person saying that Andre has gone from stadiums to gigging in a park - there is absolutely no shame in that. The man is doing what he has to do to put food on the table. And how many of us has come near to the equivalent of selling out a stadium while
young? He has every right to be proud of that.

And I repeat: Katie Price has recently been standing up for him. I saw a magazine headline today where she was asking why everyone was so nasty to Pete and asking them to leave him alone.

What about the way she spoke to him? It was not a good relationship. I'm not saying she was entirely to blame, but the fact is that he has settled down since splitting with her, whereas her life has been a(n at times literal) car crash.
