To think Peter Andre and Emily are the strangest couple?

I went down a bit of rabbit hole the other day (triggered by a random Facebook article), checking out Peter Andre and his wife Emily’s social media.

I get that he’s pretty well off (although he only had one good song so I’m not sure how well off), but how the fuck does Emily put up with him? She is obviously very intelligent, as well as beautiful, and a lot younger than him…I guess the heart wants what the heart wants but honestly the man has the IQ of a walnut, and he is also intensely irritating. I can’t imagine them having deep and meaningful conversations because I don’t think he’s capable of that.

I know this is a mean thread but it just seems like a very peculiar mismatch. Watching a 30 second reel of him on insta makes me feel stabby, how on earth does she live with him?

I think Peter Andre from what I've seen in documentaries looks like he's a narcissistic negger. I went out with a guy once for over a year who was very similar in personality. He's actually married now same as P.A but 2nd marriage same as him (and younger than him). All I can think is that these younger women must be absolute saints to be putting up with that negging crap. My ex doesn't even have P.A's money either and selfish in bed. 😂

Hmmm ok let me bite…

I’m similar age and education to Emily, similar family background.

In my 20s I dated someone significantly older and quite daft, but famous from the era when I was a young teen. Honestly it just felt incredible that this hot famous person was interested in me, and it was seductive to get to know his inner world, having people stop us for a chat when you go out etc. If you’re the ‘clever girl’ from a ‘normal’ background it can be something you just fall into, something different, an experience. Especially if you’re under 30 you’ll see past their peculiarities the more you fall, that unusual life that comes with notoriety can be tempting if you’re a certain kind of personality, eg ‘the nice boy from the next town’ would bore you. Then the next thing you know you’re barefoot and pregnant 🤣

Thankfully it didn’t happen to me! My ex has done some batshit things over the years and whenever I see something, I go ‘thank god it’s not my circus to deal with’!

However my last boyfriend was also quite daft. Just not intellectual and a bit incompetent at life, but gorgeous (and crucially, a nice person, despite saying/ doing some silly things).

I’ve come to the conclusion that I just find that lost puppy personality attractive. I don’t need anyone to pay half the bills or generally be the adult, so I like the idea of going on an adventure with someone hot that adores me and makes my life interesting. I don’t always want to compete in intelligence and achievements with someone, so it quite suits me if someone adores me and tells me they think I’m so smart when I’ve simply worked their tax rate out. It’s easy, you can just switch off and feel at peace, their very different inner workings fascinate you - until they become annoying.

I wouldn’t be fully surprised if she’s very much in charge at home.

I’d probably dump them if they started doing silly things on tv though… Mind you, as a woman and mother you probably have quite a high ‘he’s an idiot but he’s my idiot’ tolerance. And as a high achiever you don’t quit things, do you?

High achievers don't quit things.
That's what I think about her. Once the gloss has come off, she will be committed to making it work. Like most marriages probably.

Doubledenim305 · 23/06/2025 01:54

Plus there will be plenty money and nice bits of showbiz glamour when she wants it. Nice house etc etc.
I've always quite liked him.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 23/06/2025 01:59

He is an annoying fool. Very irritating.

I know loads of beautiful clever women married to dullards 😂

Yes, I'm one of them 😇

Yazzi · 23/06/2025 02:39

Hahaha OP I was wondering this yesterday too, just based off that insta video she did putting on her make-up, and I just thought my gosh she is just the most absolutely stunning woman, no doubt also very intelligent- he got very VERY lucky!

Still another marriage of a similar (if stratospherically higher fame levels) ilk is George and Amal Clooney- by all pre Amal profiles he was essentially a very amiable, friendly guy who leveraged his fame and wealth to get into doors of power but then not having all that much of use to contribute when he got there. Meanwhile Amal is a highly respected barrister working and thinking on intensely complex national and international legal problems. Yet they seem happy too!

You can be "clever", or academic rather, and still be shallow as a puddle. I also don't think you need to be super intelligent to be a doctor. Averagely intelligent with a good (often private) education and often pushy parents is all it can take. I've come across several GPs who don't seem very bright at all with some of the nonsense they came out with. I've also met lots of solicitors who are thick as pig shit but people always assume they must be really clever for some reason.

I think for a lot of doctors and solicitors it’s all about having an excellent memory!

nomas · 23/06/2025 02:53

After seeing the waynhe behaved to Katie off camera on their reality show, he looks horrible and I agree, I don’t know how any woman puts up with him.

If he hadn’t met Katie, he’d be a one hot wonder who disappeared i to obscurity.

As a solicitor- I think this is truer of doctors than lawyers, we don't need to remember all that much.
But I also think that the poster you quoted is correct that solicitors don't have to be all that smart necessarily. But it's definitely not true of doctors at least where I live- uni places and then training places are extremely competitive.

Empress13 · 23/06/2025 03:02

Not to mention the 16 year age gap he was 36 her just 20 when they met. He’s appearing at a venue in a park near me soon. From stadiums to a park how the mighty have fallen!

OneBadKitty · 22/06/2025 23:07

I don't get the hate for PE on mumsnet. Having watched the reality shows he did with KP I think she comes across as far more abusive than he was. There are a few episodes where he's clearly had enough of her and is acting somewhat dismissive but on the whole he took a whole lot of shit from her and comes across better than she does. Plus, he's gone on to make a success of a relationship and appears to be a decent father to his kids- the same can't be said of KP!

Agree. He is also a good dad and has a steady relationship unlike his ex.
She was awful to him on that show and people are only saying he was abusive because he hit back a few times.
Maybe he was controlling, who knows? But she had her shit together when she was with Peter so she couldn't have been that unhappy

2021x · 23/06/2025 04:52

When you are younger you have less experience of what a responsible and secure person looks like at the age of anyone older should be like.

I feel for Emily because there will be a painful stage when she realises that he is a narcissist and she can do better. She is clever so she will sort it out; but there will be a point when she is sti young and hot and he is a crumbly tedious Middle Ages man.

CrownCoats · 23/06/2025 04:58

GnomeDavid · 22/06/2025 22:27

I completely get it. I think that every time I see them. I work with a lot of doctors and they are simply put, very very clever. None of them are in relationships with thick people, most are with other doctors. I said to one of them, how boring it must be to be constantly surrounded by people so much less intelligent than you? But I guess they get used to it.

What a weird comment and what a strange thing to say to a doctor. You seem to idolise doctors. Or are you one?

You know they’re just ordinary people, right?

Her father was Pete’s patient? I don’t think he’s Dr Andre 🤣🤣🤣

has anyone ever rewatched the clips of his reality show with Katie price? The way he spoke to her 🫨

Sorry obviously the other way round, her father was Pete’s doctor. Pete had kidney stones. He went for dinner at Emily’s house and met that way. Emily was still at uni at the time. Wonder what they really think of the relationship.

RedRock41 · 23/06/2025 06:31

Pointless post. Speculation as to what someone does or doesn’t see in their chosen spouse. Dunno OP, there’s little enough happiness in the world at times, let those who seem happy together just be and enjoy I say. No one else’s business and each to their own.

Fridgemanageress · 23/06/2025 06:36

Don’t be naughty Katie/Jordan!

Francestein · 23/06/2025 06:57

I went out for brunch with PA and his brother with a group of mates in Cairns once. The conversation wasn’t exactly scintillating. (Perhaps his brother owned the place we had brunch? Was so long ago, I barely remember. Very early 2000’s)

lifeonmars100 · 23/06/2025 06:57

I have seen Peter Andre twice IRL, not deliberately, I hasten to add. Once was many years ago when I happened to be in Blackpool for a few days and he was appearing at some Radio One beach event, there he was, topless in the slightly chilly air beltiing out his one and only hit. We did not linger. The other sighting occurred when I was walking through the local shopping centre and he was doing a promotion event at the Perfume Shop. He looked ultra tanned and somewhat shrunken with a rictus grin and a slight sense of embarrassment at the low rent venue. There were no crowds of fans and admirers.

Rubyupbeat · 23/06/2025 06:58

@WintershealingI remember seeing that and realising what a controlling petulant child he is. She is a lot younger and I wonder if his sulking and controlling has been easier to get away with.
Often wondered how her parents feel.

alltoowelltmv · 23/06/2025 07:02

My ex used to work in security with a few celebs (way before he met me) and told me of how he worked with another celebrity but Peter Andre was swanning about at the time.

Apparently he was awful - rude, entitled and unpleasant. I didn't really believe my ex when he told me years ago as I quite liked PA, but it seems most people on here who have met him say the same thing, so...make of that what you will.

TorroFerney · 23/06/2025 07:07

Gowlett · 22/06/2025 22:27

I think he gifted them tickets to his gig, as a thank you to his surgeon (her dad), and that’s when he met Emily backstage.

I can’t believe his new movie is about pretending to be Jamaican. Or something like that? Who would even watch that?

Edited

There’s a really interesting discussion about it on the marina Hyde/richard osman podcast. It also talks about the massive tax incentives in the film industry, not that the two are connected they both stress.

MaySea · 23/06/2025 07:09

Daddy issues...?

Donewiththisshit · 22/06/2025 22:20

She’s also the daughter of his doctor. I don’t understand how he even met her given rules around not socialising with your patients. Obviously I don’t know all the details, none of us do clearly, but I’ve always been curious about how they met.

Edited

Theres no rules regarding socialising with your parents patients? (Provided dad isn't breathing his confidentiality).

Selfsetfree · 23/06/2025 07:09

She was young when she met him I think, possibly influenced by his job. She is a qualified doctor but isn’t her main work in aesthetics. Which probably links closely with the celebrity world particularly a few years back. Many people are clever but can lack common sense. I’m presuming there is a camera persona for both of them but it has lasted unlike his last marrriage.

If it was off camera how did you see it? Those two were very calculatedly always on camera. And I remember seeing the video extract from the show that everyone uses to show how awful he was to her. The full video tells a very different story where she is goading him and bullying. Really awful.
