To think Peter Andre and Emily are the strangest couple?

I went down a bit of rabbit hole the other day (triggered by a random Facebook article), checking out Peter Andre and his wife Emily’s social media.

I get that he’s pretty well off (although he only had one good song so I’m not sure how well off), but how the fuck does Emily put up with him? She is obviously very intelligent, as well as beautiful, and a lot younger than him…I guess the heart wants what the heart wants but honestly the man has the IQ of a walnut, and he is also intensely irritating. I can’t imagine them having deep and meaningful conversations because I don’t think he’s capable of that.

I know this is a mean thread but it just seems like a very peculiar mismatch. Watching a 30 second reel of him on insta makes me feel stabby, how on earth does she live with him?

But he really loves his kids....

...Almost as much as he loves himself 🤢

zanahoria · 22/06/2025 23:55

Emily does seem to be rather a different character to his previous wife

Waterweight · 22/06/2025 23:56

Shes the perfect age for him = grew up during the "Katie & Peter" reality TV years (before they both damaged their reputations) & would have seen him on I'm a celeb as a child probably considered herself incredibly lucky they broke up (with him coming out on top reputation wise) as she was turning 18

Really anybody older would remember him as a one time pop star & anybody younger would be a bit grossed out age wise but she's perfectly in-between

& As for how he made his money it was the divorce from Katie/reality TV & I think I read once he had some real estate he bought then sold when it rose (but regretted as it would have continued to rise ?) in a newspaper once

uncomfortablydumb60 · 23/06/2025 00:00

Yes, it's very odd that her DF was happy to see her become a couple with his patient.
There's quite an age gap too.
i always imagine discussing their favourite teen tunes which the younger partner has never heard.
They do seem respectful of each other and it's great they're protecting their DC unlike his ex wife KP

I saw the trailer for Jafaican the other day and I can’t believe it has actually been made and will be in cinemas. His acting is so abysmal even in those short clips. I thought I could have a laugh at the trailer but it was so bad I just ended up feeling sorry for the other actors!

Wouldthisbotheryoutoo · 23/06/2025 00:13

Seems v creepy to me, she was a child when he meet her

This thread is mean and insulting in tone

Although I have pondered the question myself

😂

My friend has been married to a complete arse for years. I’ve never understood it, but she’s clever and accomplished and seems as happy as a clam.

I assume her husband has hidden depths.

Emily is clearly a clever, accomplished woman too and from what little I’ve seen, they seem very happy. I’ve always thought Peter seems nice enough and pretty harmless. Good luck to them.

Bridgetjonesheart · 22/06/2025 23:19

It does sound rather odd but maybe she is motivated by money and that’s why she’s with him?

Yes and she would have meet alot of rich people at uni and being a doctor?

beetr00 · 23/06/2025 00:23

@MoneyMoneyMoney25 have you strayed over from tattle perchance?

ElleintheWoods · 23/06/2025 00:24

Hmmm ok let me bite…

I’m similar age and education to Emily, similar family background.

In my 20s I dated someone significantly older and quite daft, but famous from the era when I was a young teen. Honestly it just felt incredible that this hot famous person was interested in me, and it was seductive to get to know his inner world, having people stop us for a chat when you go out etc. If you’re the ‘clever girl’ from a ‘normal’ background it can be something you just fall into, something different, an experience. Especially if you’re under 30 you’ll see past their peculiarities the more you fall, that unusual life that comes with notoriety can be tempting if you’re a certain kind of personality, eg ‘the nice boy from the next town’ would bore you. Then the next thing you know you’re barefoot and pregnant 🤣

Thankfully it didn’t happen to me! My ex has done some batshit things over the years and whenever I see something, I go ‘thank god it’s not my circus to deal with’!

However my last boyfriend was also quite daft. Just not intellectual and a bit incompetent at life, but gorgeous (and crucially, a nice person, despite saying/ doing some silly things).

I’ve come to the conclusion that I just find that lost puppy personality attractive. I don’t need anyone to pay half the bills or generally be the adult, so I like the idea of going on an adventure with someone hot that adores me and makes my life interesting. I don’t always want to compete in intelligence and achievements with someone, so it quite suits me if someone adores me and tells me they think I’m so smart when I’ve simply worked their tax rate out. It’s easy, you can just switch off and feel at peace, their very different inner workings fascinate you - until they become annoying.

I wouldn’t be fully surprised if she’s very much in charge at home.

I’d probably dump them if they started doing silly things on tv though… Mind you, as a woman and mother you probably have quite a high ‘he’s an idiot but he’s my idiot’ tolerance. And as a high achiever you don’t quit things, do you?

snughugs · 23/06/2025 00:24

I remember watching the Katie and Pete documentaries at the time and SHE was incredibly rude and disrespectful to him that he just gave up and spoke to her like shit. I think he’s a simple soul and obviously a good Dad. The children have had a far more stable life with them than Kate. Emily could leave, she’s not stupid she stays because she wants to. Katie has had the exact same relationships with all the other men since. Katie is irresponsible and selfish.

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 23/06/2025 00:27

what does your DH see in you then? Why would he want to be with anyone so bitchy who clearly needs to get a life?

HeyWiggle · 23/06/2025 00:29

Honestly, it’s one of life’s great mysteries—like how Nicolas Cage keeps getting movie roles or why socks disappear in the wash. Maybe Emily finds Peter’s “walnut IQ” endearing… or maybe she just wears noise-cancelling headphones and stares at his abs until he stops talking. Love works in mysterious (and sometimes baffling) ways.

I completely get it. I think that every time I see them. I work with a lot of doctors and they are simply put, very very clever. None of them are in relationships with thick people, most are with other doctors. I said to one of them, how boring it must be to be constantly surrounded by people so much less intelligent than you? But I guess they get used to it.

I have met a few doctors and I do not think they are massively more intelligent than other people, but then I too am surrounded by clever people who have one thing in common: they have many sides to them and they are all very human with the usual flaws. I once met a Nobel prize winner who had a very surprising childlike hobby and who came across as a bit weird. So what?

I remember that Katie spoke so badly to Pete and treated him like the paid help, completely deluded by her own “fame”. He was vulnerable after suffering a nervous breakdown and she seemed to
know how to exploit that weakness. It was awful to watch. From that documentary I deduced that she was addicted to the drugs she was given when she went under for plastic surgery. He tried to talk her out of it but she was adamant. And he can’t be that bad because even recently KP was interviewed for a podcast in which she claims that she’d wanted to stay with him but he left her.

A famous novelist said that love is where you find it. Emily and Peter Andre have found each other. Why don’t we just wish them well and leave them to it?

Oh, I suspect it’s the fact that I’m an absolute delight <preens>. But seriously, we are a similar level of attractiveness and, more crucially, ideally matched in the intellect stakes. Which is not to say that either of us are either the most attractive or intelligent people in the world, but one of us can make a joke and the other will get it, and neither of us have to dumb down our conversations, as I would imagine EA has to do on a daily basis.

If I were her I’d prescribe myself low dose Valium to keep my zen and prevent myself from bashing him over the head with a frying pan for being such an annoying tool.

Goodness me, what a thoroughly horrible thread. Just nasty.

LBFseBrom · 23/06/2025 00:52

Peter Andre is far from stupid and more than a pop singer. He is quite a successful businessman. Pleasant, kindly with good values. I can see how Emily was attracted to him and if she wasn't happy, wouldn't have had three children with him. The age difference (which isn't that vast), would have meant nothing to Emily, her father is the same amount of years older than her mum. He was doing some work with her parents, with whom he became good friends when he met Emily and she was a grown woman when she married him.

Showbiz Pete is probably very different to Peter the husband. Yes, we have seen him in reality shows but those shows do not depict a real person as they are manufactured for entertainment. So you are asking us to answer a question we can’t possibly know the answer to.

This is one of the meanest threads I have ever read on MN.

Rayqueen · 23/06/2025 01:12

Well it's not rocket science who is always been in the media for bad stuff, debt, arrests, drink driving etc etc not to mention the constant made up stories, bizarre string of marriages, bfs blah blah...so I would be applauding they've been married for years and clearly work which isn't rocket science but fact!

Lilaclinacre · 23/06/2025 01:14

I find the Dr worship on this thread very weird. I've worked and socialised with many over the years. They are all scientifically minded yes but equally some are dull, some are interesting, some lack common sense, a few were abusive, some were compassionate and funny, others downright awful. Basically just people. I've also met people who were equally intelligent and more so. See also academics.
