To think it is too bloody hot?

Where I am it is also very humid with humidity close to that of Singapore. I had a shower, stepped out and am sweating and clammy again within moments. I tried to do some housework but I'm drenched in sweat and having to keep changing my t-shit, DH is the same. I can live with high humidity and even the heat but the heat and humidity has to go!

I’m not keen on people who moan about the weather (except me, I can just about put up with me), however - I do think it is too bloomin’hot! I don’t grow bedding plants anymore and have a fair few drought resistant plants but we are having to water.
It’s too hot for the dogs and I have to get up earlier than I would like to walk them in the ‘cooler’ part of the day.
Tbh, we’re just not used to this are we? I’ve not even been abroad and not sure I could cope.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 21/06/2025 18:11

Come to Scotland.

No ‘UK’ heatwave here.

it’s been 17C most of the day and raining.

BMW6 · 21/06/2025 18:13

I'm sweltering in Southampton 😡

Greenfingers37 · 21/06/2025 18:14

We’ve just cancelled a holiday to Mallorca and are going to Northumberland and Scotland instead! The heat is just unbearable!

LoafofSellotape · 21/06/2025 18:15

It's warm, we had a 5 minute downpour which just made it muggier.

RichHolidayPoorHoliday · 21/06/2025 18:15

I am South of London, it's summer weather, but not that hot frankly. Kids are still playing sports outside, we even had sports day yesterday. No one was badly affected. We put a hat on kids and give them water.

FlyingUnicornWings · 21/06/2025 18:18

I was in the car all day yesterday with the air con on, and I was so smug last night when my husband said he was hot. I was like nah, not hot.

Today I’m dying. Karma for being cocky. 😆

SerendipityJane · 21/06/2025 18:23

YANBU but ... get used to it. 35 years ago these past few days would have been extraordinary.

Nannyfannybanny · 21/06/2025 18:29

It wasn't extraordinary 35 years ago,1976 was a heatwave,no rain for 3 months. The water supply was turned off,you had to go to standpipes and queue for water..I'm in the SE corner nearest to France. It reached 33c today..I watered my plants before 6 this morning and some are wilted. I've got 4 water butts. We've had an email from Southern water asking us to cut down and there's been rumours of hosepipe bans for several months.

Depends where you are - my bit of Scotland was 27C yesterday and 25C and very humid today.

Jackiepumpkinhead · 21/06/2025 18:39

I love it, 27c here today in the EoE, been on 2 countryside walks and now sitting in the garden.

Hdpr · 21/06/2025 18:40

I love it, proper summer

Polewaxed · 21/06/2025 18:43

It’s the humidity that’s annoying, not the heat. I was on holiday in Greece a few weeks ago with similar / higher temps and it was never uncomfortably hot.

Sortalike · 21/06/2025 18:44

It was horrible here this morning (Bucks) Grey skies, 32° and humid.

It's only since 4pm that its improved - there's a breeze, which is clearing the air a bit, and the humidity is slightly better. Still hot though.

Its going to be slightly cooler tonight so hopefully it will be easier to sleep.

Musicaltheatremum · 21/06/2025 18:45

Come to Edinburgh. It's been cold all day. Rained at 3pm. Now quite pleasant. Yesterday it was sunny and 29 degrees. Far too hot!!!

shellyleppard · 21/06/2025 18:47

My cousin lives in Florida and its only 5 degrees hotter over there 😱😱 even she's complaining of the heat and she's lived there for over 40 years 🥵🤣

It probably depends where you are to some extent, higher humidity makes it worse. London's humidity is like 24% vs over 70% here, it makes it much harder for the body to cool itself.

I agree, the humidity is the killer, sometimes quite literally!

This is my daily routine here in Milan from June to September. It's pure hell. Sub Tropical climate, endless humidity, 7 types of mosquito and no aircon! I know I shouldn't complain about it though but it's not pleasant.

TessTickle0 · 21/06/2025 18:57

It is!
My children have been walking around the house in shorts, no tops complaining that it is "Too Hot"" much of today. Youngest went out to play and came back drenched in sweat.
Every time I go upstairs I start to sweat (our house is pretty bad for retaining all the heat upstairs)I am sick of my hair going frizzy and have just now changed into a sports bra, no vest! to hell with any wobbly bits!!!
Even though its rained a lot today the humity is horrible

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 21/06/2025 19:01

Well to be fair it is due to be cooler and rain tomorrow so I shouldn't complain so much, but I will! I always think I'd love to live in a place like Milan but the weather would likely do me in!
