Where I am it is also very humid with humidity close to that of Singapore. I had a shower, stepped out and am sweating and clammy again within moments. I tried to do some housework but I'm drenched in sweat and having to keep changing my t-shit, DH is the same. I can live with high humidity and even the heat but the heat and humidity has to go!

YANBU but ... get used to it. 35 years ago these past few days would have been extraordinary.

Sadly I agree if it goes on like this and gets worse I'll have to move to Svalbard. Its a balmy 7 degrees there today!

The heatwave is ending tomorrow at least in the South West. More normal temperature between 19 and 23: and raining
.I absolutely love the hot weather and am depressed it's ending.

colibrii · 21/06/2025 20:40

YANBU the last few days have been unbearable. Just checked into a hotel down the road for some relief! I've air conditioning is on full blast so hopefully will get some sleep tonight.

orlamug · 21/06/2025 20:42

@colibrii I'm not normally an envious person but right now I am feeling rather envious of you!

Come to Scotland.

No ‘UK’ heatwave here.

it’s been 17C most of the day and raining.

It’s been 28c in the Cairngorms today! Once the fog lifted at least. Chilly this evening.

Bring on the Autumn - how can people love this? I have no energy!

Katemax82 · 21/06/2025 21:03

Im in Kent...my husband and older 2 kids are away till Monday and I'm home with my baby and 7 year old. I've been planning to get the house in order as its a tip but can't muster any enthusiasm in this heat! Also my baby is cranky

I bloody love autumn! Well I did until I moved into a bungalow with a damp problem. Now its 24/7 dehumidifiers on but hey at least its not hot

Yuja · 21/06/2025 21:08

I love it, it means I can relax and be comfortable for a few days a year- not like it’ll last is it!! (Disclaimer: I lived in Singapore for 15 years so it’s second nature for me!)

SovietSpy · 21/06/2025 21:09

I can deal with the heat in the day, but when the temperatures don’t drop at night that’s when it’s hard to deal with. Sleeping in the heat is horrible and the heat just builds for the next day. Currently past 9pm and still 26 where i am. It’s horrible. Spring is best where you can have a sunny 22 in the day but drops to 12 at night.

I'm sweltering in Southampton 😡

Not quite Sleepless in Seattle but it has a ring to it ! 😁

MyIvyGrows · 21/06/2025 21:14

Today’s been a bit rubbish because it has been grey and muggy rather than sunny and hot. There’s a breeze getting up now and it’s due to be no higher than 17 tomorrow where I am, so that will be nice.

We’ve just cancelled a holiday to Mallorca and are going to Northumberland and Scotland instead! The heat is just unbearable!

We've just come back from Mallorca today.

To be honest, it was hotter and much more humid when we landed at Stansted Airport this afternoon than it was in Mallorca. Mallorca had similar temperatures but is less humid.

In the UK when we get a heatwave it tends to be a very humid and muggy heat. Less so around the Mediterranean and I find it more comfortable if I don't do too much. 😃

SleeplessInWherever · 21/06/2025 21:22

This is my favourite kind of weather. I was having my morning brew in the garden at 7:20 telling my partner that it was like being on holiday. Love it!

We are however polar opposites. I would, and could, sit in the sun all day happily baking away, I’m like a lizard. He starts complaining in the early 20’s and cannot bare it.

Flidina · 21/06/2025 21:32

Very hot and humid in the North East today, we went to the coast thinking it would be cooler ,not a chance it hit 30 degrees, so spent the day nipping in and out of air conditioned shops, ate out so no cooking, walking in the shade, driving with air con on full, then back home into the hot tub, filled with cool water. We invested in air con units for the bedrooms a couple of years ago and they are a god send.Cant wait for this heat to die down, I hate it!

Me too

ohyesido · 21/06/2025 21:42

I went to an air conditioned theatre today and still ended up looking like I went swimming with my clothes on. Thankfully it seems to be cooling off now.

ps the Dyson fan is totally worth the money

PositivityVibes · 21/06/2025 21:56

It just so blinking humid, just had my 3rd shower of the day & I’m still mafted!

Aniceempirebiscuitandacupoftea · 21/06/2025 21:57

I live in a first floor maisonette with large windows so I’m all hot and bothered. We have all the fans blowing but it’s still uncomfortable. We drove to a supermarket this afternoon and enjoyed the lovely aircon. It would be nice to have some good cooling rain, but hang on, that’s not what people want is it!

Which theatre? Did you see anything good?
I was at the Mayflower in Southampton, it was proper chilly 🥶

BarBellBarbie · 21/06/2025 22:00

I mean, it depends where you are? It's very pleasant where I am

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 21/06/2025 22:04

I LOVE IT!!!

Sitting in the garden or in and out of the house, it's just lovely 😍

Bimblebombles · 21/06/2025 22:14

The bit of the day that I find hard is about 4pm when its kids teatime and everyone is hungry and cranky but feels too hot to eat, and its grim turning the cooker on, and our dining room table faces the sun at that time of day. DD doesn't like eating outside because of flies. And so I have to sit at this boiling hot table with the curtains drawn and it just feels like a pressure cooker!!

Rest of the day, I enjoy.

Cynic17 · 21/06/2025 22:18

9h, grow up, OP.
It's midsummer. It's the longest day of the year. Thank God we've had some light and sun recently. We were at a wedding yesterday in Oxfordshire and it was absolutely beautiful.
It will be cool, grey and damp again before we know it, and then you'll regret complaining.
Just enjoy, relax and forget about the cleaning.

Notashamed13 · 21/06/2025 22:20

Yanbu......its roasting here in SW.....I've managed to keep comfortable overnight and I highly recommend a fan at the bottom of the bed (blowing feet to head) and a spray bottle of water. Drench yourself in mist and let the fan do it's job! I was almost cold last night!
