Will my neighbour ring the police on me for this

I know I know i'm terrible and deserve 25 to life, I'm an awful person, morally bankrupt. The heat has forced me to open all windows and all I have heard is people's shitty little dogs yapping all evening on and off. I just lost my temper, couldn't take it anymore and yelled out the window:

'take your dog inside before I take my rifle outside' and sure enough, the little shit stopped immediately.

Spare me the moral rant, I know I'm a bad person and I don't care, just wondering if I should expect a visit from the bobbies. And I have no rifle or any sort of criminal or even traffic background.

Do you have a rifle?

myplace · 19/06/2025 21:52

I wouldn’t worry. I don’t think throwing your trifle in heat induced frustration is a criminal offence.

You can't shout out of your window about rifles OP, it's kind of frowned upon.

😂😂

I wish I had the balls.
It worked anyway!

The cops will have a laugh at that one. You make their evening.

I remember being very hungover when I was about 19 and someone, somewhere was chainsawing the shit out of something. I lost it, opened my bedroom window and shouted “shut the fuck upppppp!” before retreating back to bed, I knew the chainsaw wielding irritant would never hear me over their noise but I just had to do it. I hear you on this episode.

YourZanyFox · 19/06/2025 21:56

i wouldnt normally do or say something like that, this heat has just possessed me and my house is particularly good at retaining absurd amounts of heat

I live in a park. I swear to god the yapping will send me either to prison or an early grave. It starts here at 6:45am. The same. Dog. Yapping. Every single fucking day.

straight up anti social behaviour. I also have some idiot who zooms by on a motorbike that he has modified to be extremely lous at 6.55am and again at 11pm. he is so damn loud that i can hear him with enough time to put my shorts and shoes on and step into the road when hes coming just to mess with him. i do this whole 'deer in the headlights' routine. he goes twice the speed limit. i love messing with him and pretending like i have no idea what im doing

If the police turn up say you said Trifle and you were going to eat it outside on such a pleasant evening.

Stompythedinosaur · 19/06/2025 22:01

It's not in any way ok to threaten violence, obviously. Disgusting behaviour. The police probably won't care, unfortunately.

Oh... so the dog shut up when you threatened the rifle?
I thought you'd scared the dogs owner so they shut the dog up.

SummerSun24 · 19/06/2025 22:03

I don't understand people who just let their dogs bark outside. Can they not hear it?? Madness

Have a little chat with him and ask what he's yapping about?

myself and many other neighbours have already asked this neighbour nicely, its veryyyyy antisocial to deprive people of peaceful enjoyment in the most expensive city in the uk where they pay over the odds to live

Maybe I should add that I have an autistic son who hits himself in the face when he gets distressed by loud noises

I live next door to a school OP. Every. Single. Day. A woman brings her fucking howling dog on the school run.

She ties him to my neighbours fence - on the inside on the neighbours drive. And he absolutely howls and howls the whole time she walks in the school, drops her kids off and walks back.

I can regularly be heard at 8.30 and 3.10 shouting "shut the fuck up" to nobody in particular out of the bathroom window.

I feel your pain - after 2 years of this I am ready to kill somebody... anybody will do - just make the howling stop!
