Under boob sweat chaffing 🫣

Posting in AIBU because in all seriousness, where do I post about under boob sweat 😅

I'm a curvy woman who is currently breastfeeding and still carrying a bit extra weight after giving birth. I have to wear a bra 24/7 due to leaking but with this heat I am struggling!
Went for a lovely family walk yesterday and my bra has destroyed me, it was super warm I was sweating and I have a big bust. The chub rub is sore. I would normally just go braless for a little to help it heal but that's not an option at the moment.

Any suggestions to help it heal faster/better even with a constant sweaty bra on? Sorry for TMI. Or any way of preventing it happening again? I use talc normally but this weather is too much. Its on the top of my stomach and the underneath part of my boobs. I've just put a soft sports bra on for now.

It may be worth showing your pharmacist. Most have a private room you can use.

If you are sure it isn’t a fungal infection, wash the area, pat it dry and use nappy cream overnight to help heal it.

You can buy an anti chafing product called Body Glide. I found some online for about £16.

Some women put underarm antiperspirant on under their boobs but this is something I have never done.

And sympathies, it’s one of the downsides of big boobs!

Bless you. Vaseline, as a start.

CharlotteCChapel · 19/06/2025 08:46

Medicated talc is also useful. I also use DH's anti dandruff shampoo if it smells.

FetchezLaVache · 19/06/2025 08:47

Go to the pharmacy and ask for the Canesten that treats sweat rash. As a fellow under-boob-sweater, I feel you! That stuff is a life-saver.

Coffeeishot · 19/06/2025 08:49

I'd put sudocreame on it id also suggest canestan cream over night ,then you can buy liquid talc its good for changing, or just use roll on deodorant once its healed.

Yes to this. It definitely works. I sometimes also use Muslim cloths under my boobs kept in place by my bra. So no skin touching skin. I buy the Botanic ones in boots

TeenLifeMum · 19/06/2025 08:54

I spray my antiperspirant under my boobs.

I meant chaffing sorry,

Seeline · 19/06/2025 08:57

Yes - canestan cream (the athletes foot one) will clear it up quickly. I also use a squirt of my anti perspirant under my boobs in very hot weather.
Sympathies - it can get so sore

Caterina99 · 19/06/2025 08:57

Once it’s healed up - roll on antiperspirant under boobs definitely helps prevent it.

I had some for ages that wouldn’t go. Athletes foot cream shifted it instantly so it was clearly fungal related

goingtotown · 19/06/2025 08:58

Muslin facial cloths under the boob.

ZiggyZowie · 19/06/2025 09:00

If it gets smelly and infected then Athletes Foot Powder.

I was told by doctor it's the same type of fungal infection under boobs as for feet.
The powder really helps heal the skin.

Then you need prevention, i e. Amazon sell under boobs anti chafing pads that go under your bra

Whistlingformysupper · 19/06/2025 09:01

You need to use the type of thing runners use to prevent chafing.

I think there is one called Bodyglide.

Its a common issue even slimmer people can encounter - if you run long distances clothing can chafe everywhere.

Livingthebestlife · 19/06/2025 09:01

Mix Canesten with Hydrocortisone cream together and rub on area, the pain and soreness will be relieved immediately.

YellowGrey · 19/06/2025 09:03

I use lanacane anti chafing gel.

Stoufer · 19/06/2025 09:04

I agree with canesten cream, you can buy it over the counter, this type of rash is usually fungal. Also - clean bra every day, and wash under / around breasts every morning and every night, and pat dry, to stop it coming back.

LardyandMardy · 19/06/2025 09:13

I researched a similar issue a while ago and a tip was to stick panty liners to the bottom bit of the bra to absorb the sweat.

dontcomeatme · 19/06/2025 09:15

Wow some great suggestions I wouldn't have even thought of thank you everyone!

I'm sure it's not fungal it only happened yesterday and no smell or anything. But we thankfully already have athletes foot canestan cream so will give that a go today!

I tried nappy cream during the night but because I have to still wear a bra for bed, have leaky boobs, and it's currently 1000 degrees in my room, everything is just making it worse 😣

Might try the muslin trick, genius idea x

Liquid talc is also amazing for anything like this!

RB68 · 19/06/2025 09:22

I recently went for a Mammogram and they actually have a leaflet about this!

so 1. I get this sometimes - usually due to underwired bras - try and find something without wiring that you can wear on bad days - whiles big busted I just fit in the largest size of M&S crop top style bras and find these good for those days although they are not making an attractive silhouette etc they are comfy.

I use sudocreme overnight and when bad during the day - and yes gets on clothes etc so be careful what you wear., this seems to heal it when it is just chaffing

The leaflet provided seemed to suggest its partially caused by a fungal infection and as such anti fungal creams will help keep it at bay (once no open wound etc) so something like Daktarin used for athletes foot but they also suggested others. I suspect you could find the leaflet on line if you tried.

It is.

Thisismyname33 · 19/06/2025 09:28

For this I use athletes foot cansesten cream and it usually clears by the next day. Then from boots I got mega babe chafing stick which I used when healed, not had a problem since.

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 19/06/2025 09:37

I used to have this problem, a lot. I simply started spraying antiperspirant underneath and haven't had a problem since. I started doing this about 30 years ago!
