Under boob sweat chaffing 🫣

Posting in AIBU because in all seriousness, where do I post about under boob sweat 😅

I'm a curvy woman who is currently breastfeeding and still carrying a bit extra weight after giving birth. I have to wear a bra 24/7 due to leaking but with this heat I am struggling!
Went for a lovely family walk yesterday and my bra has destroyed me, it was super warm I was sweating and I have a big bust. The chub rub is sore. I would normally just go braless for a little to help it heal but that's not an option at the moment.

Any suggestions to help it heal faster/better even with a constant sweaty bra on? Sorry for TMI. Or any way of preventing it happening again? I use talc normally but this weather is too much. Its on the top of my stomach and the underneath part of my boobs. I've just put a soft sports bra on for now.

yeah sadly I found that no underwire did contribute. It just made my boobs sag a bit and get sweater/rub. I tried loads of different no-wire ones that were supposed to offer amaing support, even sports bras, but same issue all the time, so I finally decided that it really was the lack of wires.

dontcomeatme · 19/06/2025 20:23

@SnowdropsBloomingaww really ? I will have to have another look for wired nursing ones. This is just going to keep happening all summer with these bras it's too much x

You can buy boob sweat guards on amazon to wear under your bra

Hollyhobbi · 20/06/2025 00:20

As you're breastfeeding I'd just go with sudocrem for the moment. No antiperspirant.

Lardychops · 20/06/2025 00:27

Body glide or Vaseline xx

Mayne try to go bra less at night so they can flop out and get a good airing (as mine are now )
Lay something loose over them for leakage perhaps ?

Underboob sweat and chafing is such a frustrating (but common!) issue while breastfeeding—ugh, I’ve been there too. What helped me was applying a thin layer of zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem to soothe the area. Sometimes, I’d tuck in a cotton bra liner or even a folded hanky under the band to absorb sweat. I also switched to moisture-wicking nursing bras. And most importantly, I always bring a spare especially if I'll be out for a long time.

Hang in there, mumma—you’ve got this!

Liquid talc works a treat

BethBynnag86 · 27/07/2025 05:35

I'd definitely recommend Sudocrem too.
I apply liquid talc after showering.I make sure that I'm completely dry under there before applying. If you can (and I know it's probably difficult at the moment),give yourself extra time to dry off naturally after bathing;try to sit around unclothed for a while to allow that area to 'air' ,then apply the Sudocrem.
When the area's healed, use liquid talc to keep the situation under control, again, giving it plenty of chance to dry before getting dressed.
DD suffered while DGD was tiny; she pinched some of her Bepanthen and it really helped!
I've also sprayed Femfresh under there to keep fresh during the day.
I sympathise with you.I've been changing bras several times a day in this muggy weather in order to keep rash away.I hope you get some relief soon❤️

I find that the bras really do have to have underwires to keep the boobs up enough to not sweat/chafe/rub. The wires might not be the most comfortable but they are a hell of a lot better than the open sores I get otherwise!!

I 100% agree with this, a well fitting Underwired bra lifts your breasts so there is hardly any chance of under boob sweat. I'm a 36GG and I used the A bra that fits calculator and bought myself some Panache bras. I no longer get underboob sweat. Ill fitting bras will not give the lift needed to stop the sweat. Also Bodyglide is just an expensive stick deodorant. Stick deodorants are really good under the boobs and on the thighs.

BusterGonad · 27/07/2025 05:57

And non wired bras do not not lift and separate like a wired bra. All my non wired bras give a slight lift but by nature, just push my breasts together causing even more sweat.

Thank you 🥰 this is all really helpful. I've been going braless when I can and just dealing with the milk dribbles! I'll pop some liquid talc onto my asda delivery x

@BusterGonad ooh I didn't even think of using stuff like that for the thigh chaffing too! Thank you that will save my skin when I wear my summer dresses. Definitely need some new bras then, all of mine are none wired which is clearly part of the problem, I'm big busted too it's the worst. Thanks again x

Metanium is amazing. I was going to try this but I only have 2 tubes of the yellow left and I'm so precious about it 😅

Wash with head and shoulders shampoo as a shower gel. It helps if there’s any hint of a fungal infection. Apply canesten morning and evening (or pharmacy own brand equivalent- the athletes foot cream is usually cheaper than the intimate cream even though the active ingredients are the same).
Use anti chaffing gel, Vaseline or roll on deodorant to minimise chaffing. Change your bra often (twice a day or more if you can).

kshaw · 27/07/2025 09:57

Sudocrem will sort it overnight. It marks your bras though but honestly it's brilliant
